    I can never seem to get the pin out to change the blade so I have about 20 of these , I have gotten to where I just consider them a consumable on the job.
    Also the leave a ridge on the outside of the pipe which eats up time on the job using a file to remove, and these cutters where only used on a small job once before the job I just did. just purchased the Milwaukee ones, and they do not leave a ridge but they take a little getting used to.
    any tips on the ridge problem, like I said I don't think the blades have much use on them to be the problem.

    is the 1/2" copper tube pipe 1/2" on the outside diameter, or 1/2" on the inside diameter on the copper tube, where I am it is named 15mm copper tube / pipe which is the outside diameter, with a wall thickness of 0.7mm, inside diameter 13.6mm for half hard temper.copper tube.
    we have an equivalent tube cutter, but when I used it, it dented the wall of the copper tube a bit, which I did not like, this was years ago, so may have been improved ?
    I was using imperial size copper tubse, when I first started plumbing, it was a heavier gauge then.
    General RH12 1/2" Autocut Ratchet Handle,
    General RH34 3/4" Autocut Ratchet Handle
    General ATC12 1/2" Autocut Tubing Cutter
    General Wire Spring ATC34 3/4-Inch AutoCut Pipe Tubing Cutter
    General ATC1 1" Autocut Tubing Cutter
    are good., if you have enough space between the tube, and the wall, it's a shame they don't make the pipe clips longer, and life would be easier, and more functional.
    your videos, are great, well worth watching, thanks.

    I have three of the Autocuts in my toolbox. 1/2", 3/4" and 1". They are great for all tube cutting, not just close quarter.
    But, those are my back-ups. The tube cutter I use most is the Milwaukee M12 copper tube cutter. Cuts copper pipe up to 1" in about 6 seconds. I picked up a refurbished one a couple of years ago. It cost me 50 bucks for just the tool only. It takes a little time to get used to centering the tube within the rotating cutting assembly, but once you got that down, you 'll wonder why you ever cut tubes manually.
    Have you used one, Julio? Just curious.
    Anyway, everyone should have the Autocuts in their plumbing toolbox. Excellent tool!

    what r the disadvantages of cutting with a grinder with metal disc ?. once you cut it, debur, clean it ...does it make any difference ? i am talking 1/2 or 3/4 copper pipe. yes you could cut at slight angle by mistake ..but the pipe is 1/2" into fitting anyways once soldered. thoughts ?

      Pablo the reason is because it’s dumb

    • @pasqualeparente9776
      @pasqualeparente9776 Před 5 lety +1

      My thoughts are that in close and closed quarters, if the grinder cutting disc pinches and breaks it can and will do damage besides hurting you or even killing you. When using a grinder you should always have the guard installed and stand on the furthest side of the spinning disc. This is not possible under a sink or many other situations. This is my opinion, you do what you want , but remember if something serious happens to you, it is your family you are leaving behind. Check out some videos of grinder accidents, I believe you will use your grinder less often.

    • @MarcVette
      @MarcVette Před 5 lety +2

      @Pablo - Several reasons -
      1) A jagged cut edge makes it harder for the tube to slip into a fitting. You'd have to do more work sanding, filing etc just to get to the edge a tube cutter gives you.
      2) An angled cut creates a weak point when seated into a fitting. Yes, even though it is a half inch into the fitting, the seal relies on that perfect edge from a tube cutter setting at the stop of the fitting.
      And, if that isn't enough -
      3) Microdust will be generated when using cutoff wheels on metals. It won't just flush out when the water is turned on. Like mini metal shavings, those copper dust particles would linger on rubber surfaces. Playing hell on the rubber washers and seats as they rub against each other when opening and closing. Not to mention clogging the faucet aerators.

    I have checked most of your videos and your link for the 1/2 inch of auto cut doesn't work. Give me a new affiliate link so that I can buy one.

    This video sounds like propaganda after finding one major weakness: it is more likely to spiral than shear. Of course this happened at the most stressful moment possible: in a tight spot, the first time I tried to use it. Beware of videos that are long on praise and short on critical analysis.
