Fun fact, this video actually predates the coining of that name, Trakata*. The RPG that coined that name actually was only released shortly before I made this comment. It's also a wild experience to have someone reply to your youtube comment 15 years later.
I've ALWAYS loved this lightsaber duel as a kid. It was the FIRST lightsaber duel that was ever to be put on CZcams in my opinion, and it's one of my FAVORITES! This is a youtube classic guys, you will enjoy it! :D
Your films are a major inspiration for my entire career on youtube and will always respect you’re ambition. Travis , Ryan, dork man, Brandon, all of you are so big and responsible for the pillars of early youtube! Thank you so much
16 years later and this is still the best lightsaber duel on CZcams. Great job Ryan, Brandon, Dorkman, and everyone else who works on these. I will always be waiting patiently for a new duel. May the force be with you all.
I remember watching Ryan VS Dorkman for the first time years ago with my cousin. He asked me who I thought would win, and I said the guy in the blue shirt. I couldn't have been more wrong.
I finally found it. I remembered this video out of the blue about a week ago and have spent hours trying to navigate youtube's algorithm to find it. This is good shit right here.
Nerds rule!! you guys are awesome, it mustve been so hard to piece together all that perfectly, like fighting with just an unreleased lightsaber but then edited it all to make it work! I'm eternally grateful, you guys opened a whole new world
Ryan, big fan since Dorkman1. Not only do I hope they hire you as the main duel choreographer for all future Star Wars movies (especially 7) I hope they let you be in the movie in a battle as well. Cameo's by Brandon and Dorkman too!
The rotoscoping technique this team used shows incredible attention to detail. Way better than current day light saber battles. The camera work is amazing as well. I saw this when it came out and it is still impressive in 2024.
It’s embarrassing that two guys on a budget can produce a waaaay better choreographed lightsaber duel than a multi-billion dollar media conglomerate with limitless resources and plenty of source material to draw from.
Definitely one of the first ever CZcams videos I watched for sure. This was amazing as a kid back in the day, it's a long time aspiration of mine to make something like this one day.
Forget about the effects...how do you choreograph something like this?! Great job, love these homemade sword/saber/lightsaber duels, better than the "real" thing!
You are all wrong, look at that: "Due in part to recognition from Ryan vs. Dorkman, Wieber was offered a job at LucasArts, where he worked from September 2003 to October 2004 in the visual effects department. I think an idea for the next great video you guys could do, would be a team-up: Brandon and Dorkman against a few of the Ryan clones. That would make for an epic video. Though I really do enjoy the videos you guys already have out, and think you all did a truly excellent job on all this. They're hands down the best lightsaber videos I've ever seen, outside of the Star Wars movies themselves.
During the battle in Ryan vs. Dorkman 1, that Ryan with the blue shirt was another clone. In the very end when the other Ryan came and stabs Dorkman, he was the original Ryan, I'm assuming!
I remember I downloaded this during a lightsaber duel contest back before it had the lightsaber visual and sound effects. I pooed myself in awe of it then. And I think I just pooed myself in awe again. Awesome.
Lightsabers can do that. Brandon's lightsaber always got cut off in the videos by Ryan's saber staff. That's like one of the common battle routines that Ryan and Brandon have. Brandon always steals one of Ryan's half blades, too. :)
When will Ryan Vs. Brandon 2 will hit the youtube? I've seen some of it uploaded by other users here but it just cut off right before the fight finished... You guys are really good!!! Stay tuned for RvB 2!!!
A superb fight. Fast paced action, well choreographed, nice effects, excellant camera angles. This Video is second only to the RVD Series. Ironically enough, both actors in this vid contributed to the production of the RVD series. -5 Stars
@Brandon Flyte When will we see an HD remaster of my favorite battle? I first watched it 12 years ago... are you guys old and tired now too? "You were right about one thing, Master. The negotiations *were* short."
This question's probably been asked before, but what's the music in the background during the fight? I know the music in the end credits is Battle of the Heroes, but its the main music I'm looking for.
the high res version isn't available anymore. Is there any way that it could be uploaded here please ? Or have a download link along with the sequel ? That would be even better since youtube can lower bitrates on upload. RvB 1 was available on the ryan vs brandon website, but it's down now, and using the wayback machine can't lead to the file.
Jesus christ! That was really good! Brandon was from the beginning the badass one:D The style of grip and work with legs, seemed much more confident from the very beginning...truly amazing
Very nicely choreographed. Question on the double saber though: That looks like a very small connection between the two hilts. How sturdy is it? Is that the Maul saber, or a custom job?
@ChipNick87 No the song at the credits was battle of the heroes. The song that plays during the fight is called "From Below V2" and it is from Unreal Tournament.
another amazing lightsaber fight :D this is really well done. but i was just wondering as another lightsaber duelist (yeah me and my friends spar with pretend lightsabers) do you prefere double bladed or single bladed lightsabers? i think double is better and easier lol :) anywho, keep up the excellent work! :)
hey great job I liked it a lot, The next one you guys do make sure you guys go all out. Pull no punches. keep it up guys. I am looking forward to the next one.
What kind of locking mechanism did Ryan use on his paired lightsaber? I am wanting to make my own for a duel and would love to know how he made his. Thanks for the feed back!
18 years old and still one of the best saber fights the internet ever produced.
This deserves a HD Remake.
About that...
@@theredstonehive ?
There is a second one, which is essentially that. Look up "Ryan vs Brandon 2".
it's 2006
@@brandonburkest6229 no it’s 2020

now it's been 17 years, still badass af, and always be.

😭I want my childhood back😭
makes me wanna break out my old lightsaber lol
I miss these days😭
I miss those days too.
I know, I miss these years.
I was 8 when I first saw this back when it was new in 06 god I feel old
Hahaha, I love the way Brandon fights. Turning off the saber, the way he flipped the saber when he got it from ryan. What a badass.
It’s called Trikata

I don't know. When CZcams came out, I was just watching videos just because I could.

First youtube video I've ever watched.

Mine I'm only a teenager and I feel old watching this. These were my childhood.
Back then when people used to make videos for fun and not for money or something like that :)
MrAlexman13p yeah. Also before CZcams got screwed over by all those changes.
I miss the old CZcams. It was so much simpler and so much better

One of the best fan films regarding rotoscoping I’ve seen and I first saw this back when it first came out. Love it! Very professionally edited
Brandon should be anakin skywalker
I kinda thought he was a depiction of Anakin Skywalker
Yeah it was like Mustafar all over again
He is not a true Anakin until he slaughters a bunch of children
why thank you
That was some pretty awesome work you guys did. As Ryan said on Mavaloharly's "LightSaber Duel Kaito vs. Haku": THESE ARE AMAZING.
Kylo Ren is that you?

Brandon, you did an amazing job on RvB! I can't wait to see the finished RvB2! Great work!
It's 2021 and I'm still here.
11 years later, one of the best videos on CZcams for me.
Back when I thought no one would put out videos like this. I was so proud to be a nerd when I first saw this. And I still am.
Ten years later I now know it's the same Ryan from the Ryan vs Dorkman vids. Holy shit these videos were great!
Forget about the effects...how do you choreograph something like this?! Great job, love these homemade sword/saber/lightsaber duels, better than the "real" thing!
It's funny how Star Wars fans make better lightsaber duels than Star Wars itself.
the second part after the green lightsaber is destroyed is kinda what an alternate Anakin and Obi Wan fight would have been like.
Why they never hired you for the choreography in the prequels or the force awakens is besides me.
I think Ryan is in the VFX credits for The Force Awakens.
chris magaleoun Ryan and Brandon both work for Lucasfilm now
When the prequels came out, they would have been too young to work for Lucasfilm, nor were they well known, they were just fans making home videos.

Why is always ryan dying?
Ryan vs. Brandon 2 seems to imply that Ryan's been the villain all this time, so that might have something to do with it.
Colton Hunt Yeah, because of the clone shot, Brandon can never find the original Ryan!
During the battle in Ryan vs. Dorkman 1, that Ryan with the blue shirt was another clone. In the very end when the other Ryan came and stabs Dorkman, he was the original Ryan, I'm assuming!
He's local Shaun Bean))
Because he has a bunch of clones
