- An introductory demo of the UGS Probe Module. This module is available in the Platform version of Universal Gcode Sender as of October 2017 and can be used to automate probing and workspace coordinate system management.
This is the first thorough demo I've made for UGS, please leave a comment or thumbs up the video to let me know if you'd like to see more like this in the future.

Thank you for posting this video. I was totally lost before I watched it. After watching it I was able to setup and run the probe module in UGS. There was one problem that I encountered with the accuracy oh the x/y zero point. I measured X and Y offsets but had tweek those numbers to obtain better accuracy for those axis.
You are amazing Will
Great video. for some reason my xyz probe when run in xyz will travel almost the entire way down the probe after it does the z and then the x. cant figure it out. it is actually working perfect on the x and y probe and the z probe but does it only on the xyz probe setup, any idea thanks again, Bob
Hi,
Any chance to add the 'initiate probe' to Key shortcuts ?
This could be VERY useful when using an external keypad ( the Xbox / PS or any other method of connection )
Many thanks !
Mto bom video Amigo, estou usando esta Plataform em minha CNC, show de bola, controlo também pelo celular kkk blz.
What is the "probe x offset" number 13.44 and the y offset 14.12 represent?
The g0z0 not working on my universal g code sender
I wish I had that block as that is perfect to have for most things.
Hello, very useful video. What I want to ask you is how can I decrease the return to Zero button's descent rate to the zero position. Trying to land too fast so sometimes he skips teeth
Do I have to go through every one of those steps every time I place a new work piece? If so, it seems like its faster to just find zero manually.
Can't get this to work on Chilipepper with a 3018 as it throws soft limits but a standard macro for probing works just fine.
Great video! Can I ask what touch plate you use and where you got it from? Thanks!
how to capture image use ugs platform?
What g comand are you using to to test that the z probe worked
Great vid! Is there a way to probe the center of a circle? I think they are also called corner rings?
Edward Blanchard I'd like to implement that one of these days, along with a few other more niche probe routines, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
Probing the inside of a circle and outside of a circle would be awesome.
how to give tool diameter?for 6mm shank 3mm tappered ball nose bit
Will, where did you get that nifty rectangular probe unit? I have the round one that works with my X-Carve, but would love to get one like yours? Will it work with X-Carve?
It's called a "triquetra", it's a simple device that works well with grbl machines.
Would the probe addon work for any machine or is it firmware dependent? Would love to be able to probe all 3 axis on my Millright Mega V I just got the build complete and learning all the software now.
I've only tested it with GRBL. I believe thats what millright uses so it should work for you.
Kraken Studios any luck getting this working with Millright? I have the carve king and got the probe to try this out. Trying to figure out how to connect it to the arduino board.
Is possible save current work to continue in next day on Universal GCode Sender ??
same question, why the values a not the same ? Not a round bit ? ;-)
@Will, Please consider adding a setting for probing for the "inside corner" rather than the "outside corner". I built a touch block that has the contact surface on the inside rather than the outside for X and Y axes.
Can we probe cavities as well os corners, Centers of circles, Great effort Thanks, Dennis
"You see it did a double tap there."
Not on your webcam's 5 fps...lol
But seriously, still a good informative video.
Id change the puck grapgic, it looks too much like an endmill in CAM software. Id change it to a diamond or right angle triangle, with the dimensions coming from the X and Y offset (side lengths)
Julius Jahn I kind of like it. Makes a good representation of a touch plate.
A link to the probe module would be awesome!
Jeff Wahlig it's already built into the latest nightly build, just open the window from the plugin menu!
nvm it's built in!

Great video but it is almost unwatchable with that many adds turned on.
i don't understand what the -10 is about
On most machines the Z axis homes in the positive direction (so it is raised all the way up). When probing you need to probe in the negative direction (all the way down). In this video I was probing down 10 units, so -10.
Does that answer your question?
thank you. What pinout does the touch plate use? im using cnc shield. also where did you get the camera plugin :)
FoxyBingo the grbl documentation on GitHub has a good section for wiring these things.
I updated the description with a link to the camera plugin.
Thank you i couldnt find that via google. Ive also seen a coolant control plugin if anyone knows where that is. thanks
No problem. The "Overrides" tab (open from window menu) has a coolant button for Grbl 1.1
