The left stick control makes all the difference… as someone that has played violin for years, I find it shocking a video game requires as much practice as a musical instrument.

I use both analogue joysticks, left for steering, right for accelerate, left & right buttons are for rear & front brakes - works much better for me.

Kinda opened my eyes on this one. Im a huge motogp fan, i like the technical aspect of it, lover tight racing and stuff. But i come from sim racing, mostly gt3, dtm and have been racing for 6 year and i struggled alot here at first.. i didnt use a controller for a few years and im definately gonna have to try that left stick technique. Great tutorial. This is my first moto GP game so I was absolutely staggered by the difficulty of it. I have hundreds of hours in F1 games and went into it thinking it would be a similar play style. How wrong I was. I've got a steep learning curve ahead of me but it's vids like this that help to ease you into the basics thanks.

@@kaltinhomer4853 yeah! I’ve been playing a little more today and following his instructions of “you have to already be turning when you starting to break” really works. I couldn’t even get a lap down when I wrote this but I’ve just done my first race. You’ll get it quick I’m sure.

Been trying to tell loads of people to use the left joystick like that for years, it seems impossible to adapt to for most people for some reason. Been doing it since the early days of GP Bikes were leaning forwards and backwards was actually necessary to stay on the bike ;)
The only difference, i unassigned leaning forward on the left joystick as i have the habbit of keeping it pressed forward on the straights, something i picked up on GP bikes and never been able to ditch. Back then it actually tucked in your rider on the straight, now it sits up the rider and slows you down..so it had to go.
It’s a must for bike racing, otherwise they are all over the place. Good idea with the lean forward but I do use it shop the bike wheelieing out if corners sometimes
I’ve not watched the whole thing yet (my boss has a small problem with YT at work, what a jerk) but I do love this new overlay!! Much easier to see the sticks for steering!

This was very useful, thank you. Especially the controller overlay. I've played all of the Milestone games since about 2013 and 2022 has been my least favourite because I just cannot get comfy on the bike. Having watched your video I think I might be being too binary on the left stick, just going left and right, rather than treating it like a clock face. Going to give that a shot and see how I go!

I kinda "pump" my brake. By hitting L2 like a trigger for many times in order to brake. My brake gauge on the dashboard goes up and down everytime. It helps for me this method!

My left stick technique is letting me down, and I’m too heavy on the breaks. I’ll be leaning back more now, too.

Personally I would recommend learning without. I find the racing line doesn’t always give you the best line. It’s also best not to rely on such assistances 👍🏻

Just watched this and the one you did in motogp 21, i feel confortable when i play the game not doing the forward analog stick to stop wheelie as i think it don't work in motogp 24, don't know motogp 22 as i played last year, but about the analog i just go left and right applying the right pressure dependind on the angle of the corner and pushing the analog backwards when braking as i feel i can be more precise entering the corner, helped a lot, still, it's about finding your style with i think is funny because anyone here can have different ride style in your hand lol.

When I play this game to me no matter how gentle or aggressive I am with the steering he just seems to lean really slowly especially on direction change
Are you turning late? Like you would do in a car. The rider doesn’t lean slowly it’s more a case of leaning the rider in before you reach the corner rather than only starting to lean in the corner. Hope that makes sense 👍🏻
Ur great mate but i have the problem that when i go to a corner the bike is too heavh and steers with difficulty can u help me?
I have struggled with the game, never having a good feel... then I remembered I originally played it on PS4 and it didn't seem that hard, before updating to PS5. Now, PS5 uses a force feedback kind of effect on the triggers and possibly the sticks too. I'm having a bad flare-up of either carpal tunnel or osteoarthritis in my left wrist and thumb, and the bike seemed stiff, needing a lot of pressure to move it to where after 10 laps my left wrist was throbbing. Using a thumb extender on the left stick helped a bit but once I turned off the controlled button effect, boom... big difference. Bike feels lighter and responsive. Coming out of corners I can gently lean on the throttle now, It's not even pulling it much it's more just a pressure, to carry a little throttle. Same with brakes, much better response in trail braking. So it seems, I wasn't fighting the bike, I was fighting the controller. Couldn't get smooth on throttle or brake which was pushing the bike all over. It was from watching this video over and over, and your Ride4 and WSBK videos that got me back to playing those titles and it was then I started to wonder - why these three games felt different?. It's because they use the PS5 controller effect differently. MotoGP was worse, WSBK not so bad, R4 was very good for response. So thanks for the videos for making me keep looking for answers.
Just take your time with it mate, it’ll click eventually and when it does it will be extremely rewarding 👍🏻
I love F1 but really struggle with this game due to the issues you mentioned. Practice, practice and more practice required!

realism check: whatever physics simulation they have that dulls the pitch response of the bike is also keeping the rider on the bike if you stab the rear brake in the middle of a turn. It's an assist feature that you just can't turn off. weird game
I'm fairly new to xbox games and only downloaded this one today. I spent most of my time in the gravel. This should help. I've ordered a licenced controller too.

Yes mate, the rear brake is extremely under appreciated. You need to use both a lot of the times 👍🏻

Trying to take turns like F1. That is one of my biggest problems right there! Always too late in the turn.

You use semi-automatic gears?! 😲 Switching gears is THE most fun part of any racing for me so I'm a bit surprised actually ☺
I do, but I do end up doing a lot of the shifts myself still, you’ll see in some videos that I double shift because the game shifts just before I do
Yeah man great tutorial. It's helped me realize that I should not have bought this game lol. Been watching this video and playing for three weeks now and have not gotten any better. Doesn't matter how slow I rotate the analog stick, I can't get the rider to lean soon enough. I end up try to rotate faster and then it's leaning way too early.
I go light on the brakes and can't slow down enough to get through a turn clean. So I'm just sort of at a loss here. Great tutorial, dumb student I guess lol.

@@DrAce46 I guess my main issue is where do I start rotating from? If I'm braking I obviously can't hold up on the analog stick so I typically move the analog stick to the left and rotate counter clockwise to get the rider to lean. I find I often rotate too much to the point the joystick is at the down position cus I just can't the range of motion down. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually but this has been the steepest learning in any game I've played and I got platon Sekiro lol. I know you can't compare the two but as far as difficulty goes they're in line with eachother.

DrAce- Did you edit any of the steer, etc. inputs/gamma numbers in the options/controls menu? Would you recommend this game if I already have GP 21?
No mate, I left everything default and still have it on default 👍🏻
Guess im gonna have to fix my pc so i can play this game properly. I have been playing it on Nintendo switch and its fun, but impossible to play without heavy assists. The triggers on the switch are just buttons lot linear inputs so your throttle is either 0 or 100 no in between.
Yeah you’re at such a disadvantage when you’re playing with a linear button press as the throttle and brake

Amazing tutorial.. Plz suggest.. I am looking to upgrade my controller for pc.. I have ordered the xbox wireless series x.. Will the LT and RT buttons provide variable pressure like the Sony ps5 controller. And do we actually need the Variable pressure or the xbox controller is fine.
Thanks mate it’s my understanding that only the PS5 controller has the special triggers, I’m not sure about Xbox controllers in general to be honest.
I use a DualShock 4. I find that controller has the smallest deadzone on the triggers and analogue sticks

I use an old razer raiju and its way to sensible on the gas plus im always on the frontweel at braking. Im very soft at break and gas. Works in rims but this games control is crazy
I wanted to try a ps5 controller, it is shown in the menu but inputs wont registered.
When I use my PS5 controller I just connect it via Steam and it works with no issue mate, try it that way 👍🏻

The rajiu controller is shown as xinput and i can break and accelerate out of the box. Thats crazy.

It’s much more difficult than RIDE 4. Braking is different and the bikes are heavier

Yeah the games have moved away from the arcade style from many years ago. It's much more realistic now

Yeah same controls. I don’t change anything in the calibration I just leave it default
Why they don't break in a straight line at the end of a straight? Instead, they weave from the inside to the outside and then go towards the apex
I can’t say I’ve noticed them weaving across to be honest, some corners such as turn 1 in Portimao helps as you can swing the bike in under braking which helps reduce speed
Hi 👋🏻 there I’m one handed and I use PS4 my controller settings are R2 for Acceleration
Button X for Rear Brake and Square Button for Front Brake
When I press them they don’t seem to break very well and I end up falling off the bike?
And
When I move the left Analogue Stick a little bit the bike doesn’t move left or right?
Then when I move the Analogue Stick completely left or right the bike goes left or right but goes to far left or right and I can’t get round the corners and end up falling off the Bike?

How do you instinctively know what racing line to take? I've been playing for nearly a year on off, no idea how anyone goes so gentle on the brakes but for me it's about where the position the bike to avoid oversteering
My goal is to always hit the apex and leave the corner with the most amount of speed. So you can play around finding the best line to suit you but most importantly it comes from the brakes. If you’re braking too late into corners you’re always going to exit slowly out of corners.

The apex is the inside curb, so you need to get as close as that. Best advice I can give you is follow other players on the track or even the A.I and watch which lines they take 👍🏻

Coming from MotoGP 19 to 22… the steering and braking feels so foreign. Like you miss the corners if you use the braking markers like 19. And the steering is so slow and heavy….
Yeah it’s much more realistic and somewhat unforgiving. Keep focusing on learning the tracks and braking points 👍🏻👍🏻

Pull it too hard and you'll do a stoppie, be gentle with the brakes :D
Instead of just pulling back k you can look into MOTOGP braking styles. Blipping the rear brake also keeps the rear down.

all my race setup buttons is like that since ps2 NFS carbon. I've never get used to R2 for accelerate
The issue with that is there is no analogue press. With a linear button you can only go full throttle. That’s why the triggers are needed to be able to gently apply the throttle when needed.
That control scheme is funky though! 🔥

I don’t use mouse and keyboard for racing games, it’s impossible due to the lack of linearity in button presses

What is the ride height device?
It helps to keep the bike from wheelieing. It squashes the bikes aerodynamics for straight lines 👍🏻

Keyboard is extremely difficult due to not having analogue sticks and triggers that you cannot half press. Use a controller mate 👍🏻

Take what this guy said, go to MotoGP Academy, select Red Bull Ring and drive Sector 1 until you can do better than the gold time (with competitive controller settings). Repetition, repetition, repetition... :D Rest every 15 minutes.

Great video. Ive tried playing this game and find it so fucking hard 😅. If youre like me and dont have time to spend hours practicing a game its probably best stick with 20/21. If all you want to do is get home from work and pretend to be Valentino Rossi for half hour or so then this game is not for you.

I hate the way the bike turns and doesn't make sense and the tutorials are even more confusing
If the bike is not turning in the corners it will be due to not getting the it right on the brakes. If you brake correctly you’ll be able to hit the apex. Focus on that bit mate 👍🏻
