Honestly you need to know how to evaluate your sources in everything. I think it is the most valuable thing my professors taught me.
In this world we live in today, with so many frauds, you are so right! It’s exhausting, but you even have to check your food before you leave the drive-thru to make sure it is accurate! Lol
You made a very poignant point on a video years ago how people assume that ‘new’ art, say from the last decade, isn’t as valuable as ‘old’ art. Great point. Just because something is dusty doesn’t esteem it, and every great artist has to start somewhere. Slay on, Doc!

I had a clock repaired and gave the weights with it. Picked it up, my weights were missing , the ones that were returned weren't mine but I had no photos to back me up. Lesson learned always take photos

In the mid-90's I worked for a large hotel, the starving artist painting sale came there 2 years. I got to work as a cashier. I also got to purchase at cost. I would constantly review the work and ended up buying 3 pieces. One large sunset on beach and 2 smaller ocean waves at shore. I love them. The big beach scene glows it is so beautiful.
THANKS DR. LORI for your incredible information about myths and lies. I actually have a poster you APPRAISED for me I paid about $6 for it from a goodwill store and have owned it for over 20 years, it was appraised to be worth $500.

I’ve been to estate sales that we’re selling everything in the house, even paper plates, paper napkins etc. Yes, I agree that estate sales are not always high end but is nice to visit them where the items are art and collectibles 😊
Thanks for telling us about your book on Seymour Lipton Dr Lori. I'd never heard of him but I love abstract expressionism and modernist / mid-century sculpture. I guess he's not that well known here in Australia so I'm excited to find out more about him. I found a copy of the book on Ebay just a few minutes ago for US$12 + $8 postage (AU$31) I think that's a real bargain ! Of course I'm excited to now own a tome penned by your good self. I am constantly amazed at the knowledge that you share with us freely. The tip about keeping your clock key is something that I never knew. I do not have a keyed clock but, if I did and it needed repair, that knowledge could save me a lot of heartbreak! Thank you for all you do. I bought and love my loupe!

I'm OBSESSED with fenton art glass prior to the 70's. A video about how to identify whether or not it is authentic would be AMAZING! I have a framed mola I got for 25.at locaal estate sale because I like it.
I think it is a "ducks on a lotus pond" theme based on my own research.
It looks good on my wall and the price was right.
I buy what I like, and on the cheap. That mass produced stuff fools people.
A fool and their money are easily parted.

Looking for "a ring of fire" to identify antique milk glass, or at least pre-60's. I've seen people mention this online quite a bit, but I have seen this "fire" in pieces from the sixties that are supposedly less desirable?

I do have a tough time convincing some people the really good original art doesn't come in styrofoam frames no matter what was paid for it.
I also think that Lizann Myths would be an excellent drag queen name.
Wait, so is "starving artist" an actual term to describe a certain type of artist? Lol my parents said I couldn't major in art in college because I would become a starving artist, I just thought it was a saying.

I always hear thrifters not buying depression glass because it isn't worth much anymore and the same with Hummels.
That's not true, Deb. This is the problem when people listen to misinformed "experts." Depression glass and Hummel figurines continue to be collectible and valuable. Watch my video on Hummels to learn which ones are worth big money. Thanks For watching.
