I have a small antiques shop and have been watching Dr. Lori two years or more - she knows her stuff.
The thrift store does NOT know the values of lots of goodies. We appreciate your insight, education and advice.👍😊
The experience Dr Lori has is extensive- learned over many years- your average volunteer doesn’t have that much experience. And if thrift stores over price folks may not shop there.
It also depends on their market. If they aren't selling online, then their market is limited to who walks thru the door.
Two weeks ago in Podunk,Ky… I bought a Christmas platter for $2.99 because of a special word on the bottom. TIFFANY. I took an offer for $160 and shipped today!
I never pay attention to people who have negative views..love your videos and learn so much from you! And I respect the fact that you teach us alot of things for free. Most people complain cause they have nothing else better to do and love to start/cause drama! Keep on teaching us...we love it! For those who don't they are free to leave the video at any time!

I love your rants and raves! Anyone who has a profession they have studied and worked to attain has to deal with these types of people. When it happens to me, I simply say “OK” and walk away. Why would I spend all of my time and money getting degrees, etc., perfecting my craft and achieving my goals to turn around and give someone the wrong information? Keep up your good work. Your so right, these thrift stores have no idea what they are pricing! Their job is to price it and get it on the floor! Bought a Tiffany and company crystal vase for $3.00 at goodwill!! But,.. no, they know what it cost!🙄🤣

I think a lot of resellers forget in their greed the whole idea to a thrift shop. I have heard resellers say stuff like the person that donated this was ,so dumb. Many donate out of the kindness of their heart to help raise money for people who are hurting. I have a friend thats very well off that redecorates their house every couple years and he is very well aware what he paid new for his items ,but donates to help raise funds for the needy. A thrift is a charity.

Dr. Lori is truly remarkable. People often mock those who are the most experienced in their field. But in reality they do that because they themselves feel threatened by the knowledge the person they are mocking has that they don’t. Keep being a wonderful resource to those who will happily take your help.

Thrift stores vary, even within the same chain.
However, in December I picked up two Lladro figurines for $2 each. Today while at a nearby thrift store, different chain, they had two Lladro figurines in the case. One was $14.99 and the other was $24.99.
The store (the first with the $2 Lladros) where I picked up the pink Archemedes Segundo Murano shell you appraised for me I only paid $4 for. I see mass market paperweights (cloudy, rough bottom) in the second store for $10 or more each.
Sometimes it's being in tbe right place at the right time.

Great video Dr Lori! Several years ago I had you appraise my Aunt's items that her children and grandchildren didn't want after she had passed. They sold the items through their social media accounts and were blown away by the fact that they were able to get your stated appraisal price. There were a few that actually went for more locally just because the people who knew her wanted them and had no idea they were being sold until they saw it advertised. Makes your statement of "ask everyone " so true. Thank you for your dedication!

I have a great relationship with one of my op shops (thrift store) and they know they have valuable items on the shelves however they’re run by volunteers, they don’t have the time to individually look up each donated piece, they don’t have the expertise of experience with selling on a marketplace platform and finally they’re in the numbers game, they need to keep the lights on, they need to sell sell sell.
I was in a small town thrift store last week, one that I have loved going into. It's usually one person swamped with donations trying to get things in order. This time there were 3 workers (standing in the way, small store). Every item I was interested in was unmarked so they would google it. Pretty annoying.
You are so transparent, your website is clear, everything is well written, easy to navigate, simple to use and filled with accurate information. As far as the naysayers out there, social media unfortunately breeds misinformation. One person will make a statement that is incorrect and people run with it as truth…people need to fact check what you truly said before making comments! Dr. Lori, your education alone speaks for itself and your reputation highly regarded. And, yes, I can’t stand when people don’t put a face to their unfounded claims.❤
Some people have nothing better to do. I appreciate all I have learned from you. I have been going to auctions and thrifting since I was little, and I continue to learn something new everyday.

I love it (NOT) when people tell you how wrong you are on appraisals or you don't know what you are talking about, then go "shopping" for appraisers with less knowledge or credibility. They shop until they are told what they want to hear. You get what you pay for. Loyal fan!

My former spouse harassed me until I purged (essentially, gave away) the majority of my collection at yard sales. He's a husband of the past. I now have one who would like more space (as would I), but he also appreciates the intrinsic value of my purchases, as well as the coolness factor, which, in turn, makes me appreciate his coolness factor.

I enjoy learning from you tremendously. I respect your education, your fluidity of knowledge, your amazing work ethic and the way you teach.
However, I really encourage you to try to develop a thicker skin and not let liars & other annoying folks with ulterior motives get to you. It is true for all: the more you are in the public eye, the more nay-sayers you will have. It is impossible to respond to them all and trying to do so will only drag you down.
Luckily, the vast vast vast majority of your viewers know your value and can see these criticizes for what they are -- be they ignorant, self-motivated, or just plain mean-spirited. Remember too -- oxygen fuels flames -- starve these guys of attention and you'll be doing yourself -- and all of us -- a big favor.

It is impossible. I used to say too my "picky" newbies... Ummm?...do ya really want to piss me off BEFORE I make your drink or order your food? I would never spike their food or drink but the statement would often snap them out of their stupidity.
I was blessed too have a bar top full of regulars that found my sense of humor very funny AND recognized the truth.

Please don't let those negative jerks get you down. But ranting is good. It gives me a chance to say how much I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with those who want to learn.
As a teacher and a student I learned to laugh at the student who changes their answer to a test question every time they ask another student (on an open book test) ---until they turn in the test with the wrong answer. It is comparable to someone asking you for a value and then going to ask 3 or 4 other "experts" for the value and they end up selling an item for too low or can't sell due to wrong market, time, etc.
Your advise is invaluable to those who take it. I love to re-watch videos and guess the value you will say. I also play the Tuesday morning games at home. Please don't get your feelings hurt and stop doing what you do. Both YOU and YOUR STAFF are doing great. I only wish your videos were even longer. ❤🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🦋

My husband is having a fit at the amount of inventory I have!! He says I will NEVER get it all listed …ever!! Dr. Lori my son moved out, left some of his things, my in-laws both passed and we had a whole household to empty. Plus I had been buying on online auctions. Yes it’s out of hand!! How do I get it listed faster or should I give some of it to charity? The only things I won’t let go of is my jewelry collection!!!

I scroll past naysayers. I’ve been following you long enough to know that you have the education and expertise to know the true value of items.
People that think you overvalued an item are basing their knowledge on prices they found on the internet. Prices set by sellers that do not have your education.
These people have ruined it for many of us because we know the true value yet can’t sell it because they have deflated the price.
Sometimes I have to wait for those undervalued items to sell before I can sell them for what they are really worth.
I appreciate you and thank you for all you do to help us.

I have a small booth in a seconds/antique/junk store. There are things that don’t sell in my store that sell better on line. Duh, I don’t try to sell those thing. You have to know your market. Just because I can’t sell Precious Moments and other such things from booth doesn’t mean Dr Lori is wrong. I am responsible for knowing what my market is, not Dr Lori. I have learned so much about the things that do sell in my booth. I am now pricing things so mush better because of watching Dr Lori. Old toys, cartoon related, and odd things sell best for me. Oh, I laser cut and make earrings, they sell well. Thanks Dr Lori for teaching this retired nurse a thing or two. This little side hustle keeps me active and on my toes.

My question is, have you ever been stumped? Has anyone ever brought an object to you that you DIDN'T know about right off? Do you have a photographic memory? I've never seen someone recall such a vast amount of knowledge, in as many different types of objects, as quickly as you do! Do you ever have to double check, read a reference book, or do some follow up research? I envy you your fantastic memory! 😳
