Even after buying the Lumix S5ii, I still wanted to get this camera. It has been worth every penny, and serves as an amazing A or B cam in my situations.
It’s fantastic. But the open gate recording and auto focus really drive the upgrade. But all cameras are great these days! Just down to what tool works best for you!
@@Mandeologul Thanks, am considering getting a FF, still keep my M4/3 gear. Decided against Canon rp. This might be a good option as I have Panasonic caméras.
@@Lepewhi it will feel really familiar if you have other Lumix cameras. I agree it will work great with stills. I can certainly try and get a video on it, but there are some good ones out there showing the photo side!
I love my s5 it has given me a good introduction to fullframe filming, I have a 24-105 Lumix f4 with the s5 for handheld filming it is absolutely brilliant 😎, the focus is not that dramatic you just have to know the limits of the system and work with it. I switched from a Sony 6500 two years ago, also a great camera. For me the s5 was a great start for filming in vlog 10bit, for my way of filming the stabilizer is more important. i used the s5 with a 35mm Zeiss flektogon which is brilliant in body stabilization. @@unbroken1010 Problem is the same my friend :) If you set AFL+AEL to OFF in menu and then switch from AFC to MF /AFS via the back dial or via the lens button the camera reverts to AEL lock via shutter half press instantly ( Leica Q3 and other Leica SL do the same ... #1 reason I stopped shooting Leica M cameras ... also the reason you can not shoot Zeiss ZE lenses on Pana/Leica with ANY adapter )
The camera community is single-handedly turning the word ‘value’ into a countable noun, I find this pretty strange. It could be ‘a good value purchase’ or it could be ‘incredible value’ ‘a value’ seems bizarre. These little linguistic things are so funny. I suppose it’s important to remember that language is malleable.
I have the GH6 and now the s5ii. I wanted the s5 but there was a 30 minute limit on 4K60 videos. I love using the GH6. But I noticed the difference in the detail. There's more of it on the s5ii. The colors are about the same. A little more punch on the s5ii. The s5 is cheap now. Maybe I grab it sometime.
@@ThatGuyOverThereWeird I don't have much experience with the GH6. S5ii is at the top for me, but the GH6 will still have it's place. Really comes down to filming types/application in my opinion.
@@ThatGuyOverThereWeird I have both, the GH6 in 5.7K has much nicer details than the S5II, the S5II image look rough (worse than the S5). Of course low light is much better on the S5II. And I disagree, the colors are not the same between the S5II and GH6, GH6 colors are nicer in my opinion.
I got the S5 OG and a Blackmagic video assist 12g for $1,300. It's effectively a Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6k for about half the cost.

the original s5 has no 6k open gate but it has the 6k photo modus. this creates a 10 bit 6k open gate video! you can use it like any other video file
But I think that it's only 30fps
No, the S5 6K photo mode is not open gate. It has a big crop.
@@aiseurnae5976 The 6K photo mode is more like 5K 5184x3456 - plus you can do 5.9K RAW with a Ninja V.

With Davinci Denoising you can film at ISO25600 and it will work :D
I even done a video generally at ISO51200
I’ve had to bump mine up, and Davinci saved the footage!

Worth for Matching for sure. The Image quality is very close between the S5 and S5ii.
