I used to be such a spider plant hater till I saw one in desperate need of a rescue in wilko for £2... hes now one of the biggest plants i own already and needs another repot after barely two months 😭😂 just rescued another one from a shop i cant bear sad spider plants anymore lmaoo
If you’ve got room, you can also place the pup in soil while it’s still attached to the mother. Once it’s rooted you just snip it off. Guaranteed success 👍🏻
i’ve heard some people mention this and really love it!
I’m going to try that!
Thank you for this tutorial really helpful and your easy steps were great. Your funny and down to earth. Thanks again. Chris
This is so wierd. My spider plant had just recently grown a baby for the first time. PERFECT TIMING KAT ♡
YAY! that's super exciting 🤩
I always start a plant project and say to myself "why the $%!& did I do this?"
We love you Kat, and your content!
thank god i’m not alone 😴
Such a coincidence, my spider plant has a baby and she will NOT root, so I'm happy you made a video about it!
glad it was helpful! 💖
LETS GOOOO SPIDER PLANT TIMEEEE
🕷 THATS RIGHT!
Lol love the chaos, your videos are always awesome and entertaining 😄
if there's one thing i'm good at...it's chaos! 🥴 so glad you enjoyed!!
Hi, thanks so much! My spider has pups and it's my first spider. Your video was so informative..
Thank you for this very interesting video ! ❤
I love the chaos and frustration in this video so much. I know I wouldn’t even attempt to dig at that monster. Whenever I look up how to propagate a new plant online and I see a blog and the first thing it says is “root division” I quit😂
literally never uttering those words on my channel again 😭
If you're interested in a slightly different way to grow spider plants, it's also fairly easy to pollinate them and grow the plants from seeds(just brush the flowers with a q-tip and you'll pollinate the seeds), and the seeds also have a fairly high chance of eventually sprouting, I have one that popped up today from a cup I planted probably December
this is so interesting! never considered pollinating them. maybe i’ll give that a go some time ☺️
@@GoodandPlanty I'd really recommend it, plus it's a good way to get spider plant babies, but still keep the vines full
Enjoyed your video, very helpful. Loved your honesty . To cute!
I bought this plant in 2020 I still have, I done too many propagation I am so happy it gave me too many new plant so I don't have to go back shop for looking this plant again, even the one I bought in 2020 still looking well.very reliable plant for sure.
I just got one and I’m so excited
I just did a root separation and repot. I wasn't into it very far when I was like why the %#$did I start this?!? Showing your process and challenges is very encouraging because we can see that everyone has those moments. Now I'm 🤞🏼🤞🏼 for my (now) two spiders.....
Thank you, you're awesome! ❤️❤️
Hey Green Godess, I use Strike rooting powder for cuttings, planting tubers or rhizomes like potatoes or ginger or turmeric. Good for stimulating old seeds
Wow wow wow, those ROOTS!!! Crazy!
i know!!!! 😱
This was the best video! It was hilarious! :D
I cant wait until mine is that huge 😩😍
my secret was buying it big 🤪
The video is very entertaining and funny😭🤍
haha thank you!!
I had zero success propagating 4 spider plant pups in water, and then on my 5th try I used soil and it finally grew roots! I think it also has to do with the fact the first 4 props were fairly small.
that's why i mentioned both methods! i think it's a toss up as to what will work better for people
I waited to cut my pups off until the pups were pretty big & had some aerial roots. I placed them in water until the water roots were about 4 inches long. All 5 took to soil beautifully & in only about 4 months are huge & 1 is putting out a baby already.
@@WoodlandT ooh aerial roots 😍 I have pups, will now wait for those roots to come through.. thanks!
Thanks for this video - honest and fun. I loved it. You have a pink calladium in the background of your video. My leaves have started to droop and shrivel since temps dropped (zone 6); any tips?
Lol awesome video and cool Taz shirt
thank u 😎
This video speaks to my soul 😂😂😂
I’m so impatient. I somehow managed to get a sprout while propagating a medium spiderette in water. It seems like it’s been forever waiting on it get pups. In reality, it’s been about a month. I have two small pups so far. So fun watching them grow!
Also, hurray, found an answer :)
I got tons of babies all over my kitchen and they are growing so good and I just took them from them from the mother to soil and they took off like crazy and if you water them with half water and half milk they grow so fast its unreal it gives them calcium and you don't have to fertilize them
milk!! omg i’ll have to trust your word on that one lol. the smell of milk grosses me out 😭
@@GoodandPlanty if you add water to your milk it don't have no smell to it and it don't leave no smell behind when your dirt dries up I been doing this for months and no smell no problem I wish I could show some pictures
I’m trusting you while heartedly, I really hope this works😅😭
😂😂😂 the struggle is so real
i gave it my all 😭
I'm trying to save my few spider plants
for me, soil propagation works best when the baby is still attachted to the motherplant while rooting... =)
I had a curly spider plant (chlorophytum bonnie) pup and it started pushing out babies while i was rooting it as well as flowering twice all wholistic rooting in just regular tap water - crazy
Have you thought about rinsing the soil off so you can try the root division?
sphagnum moss works the best for me when propagating spider plant babies
another great prop method! never tried it for spider plants
@@GoodandPlanty yeah i had many spider plant babies rot or dry up in water bc i couldn’t keep up with them 😂 but sphagnum moss worked very quickly for me!
After you do the water propagation, which place is best to station them? Indoor by window or outdoor indirect light.
about how long did it take for the little babies on the runners to got to “medium & large” babies?
I had to aucally slice off a piece the size of a pie it was so root bound it was the only way to go
I have three babies from my gran and I have one in water and two in soil and I’m scared they will rot😭 it’s only been three days so I need to chill, this helped😂
Once I've cut off babies what happens to the rest of the stem left on mother plant please. Do I need to cut off completely or leave alone? Thanks 😊
"This video is just now like an anti root division video"
LMAOOOOOOO
Can I use filtered water instead?
Could you link the soil mix you use please? I can’t seem to find the video.
Great video as always ..do you have an ivy plant? I've never notice in the back ground ..just wondering
Thank you
thanks! no i don’t have an ivy
@@GoodandPlanty is there a reason for not having one? I love them
Also.. would it be horrible if I put a smaller plant in a bigger pot? (Like in a pot larger than the plant really needs just because I already have that pot?)
Hi! I am a new subscriber. Would you please make a video or tell me how do you water your hanging plants in macrame? I have a ceropegia hanging and I don't know how to water it. 😁😁😁😁😁😁
oh my god watering macrame hangers is the least favorite part of my care routine 😭 i think the best way is to just get a step stool and water from above. if the saucer is filling up too fast and you want to add more water, use a turkey baster to remove the water.
What soil did you use
I wait till pups have brown roots then i sip off put right into soil never put into water
I'm curious why root bound plants grow babies better? I just repotted a spider plant but I still want more babies 😭
I’m ready to go my herbarium 😳😈
Noticed you left the stem aka umbilical cord you need to remove that completely it takes from a lot of the life the plant could be getting
Omg ıve been water propogating it has ROOTS but ı dont know hıw to put them to soil
(I know it know)
happy to help 🥳
Youre spider plant so big !!!!! How!!!
i bought it big 🤫
Look at all the monkeys
just cut the root ball horizontally and throw away the bottom half. then you can separate the plants, they can easily re-root. no need to fuss so much. planting should be a joy, not a chore
agreed! i didn’t want to do that here because i didn’t want to actually pot them separate and sacrifice any roots
Gumtree
4:55 'fill up a pot with the same airy soil I talked about earlier'. Hmmm, earlier where? Certainly not in this video. It would be helpful to name the source so I can locate that more easily. thanks.

You talk too fast!
I did this recently with 6 all in the original pot from the nursery.... it took HOURS idek HOW I got them all apart😭 I don't blame you one bit for using the baby instead hahahaha I put all 6 in different pots so I won't hafta deal w/ that again even if I let them go for a while😂 after I did I shit you not ALL of them started shooting out babies. Now I'm tryna push them on friends/family🥲
I bought a Bonnie spider plant it had 17 Baby plants...I had a whole bunch of them to give away, but not many people to give them to lol I still have 5 I think...
more spider babies for you!! ☺️
@@GoodandPlanty I'm definitely not complaining lol
Cute spider plant 👍🏻
thank u!
