    So, now you are a mind reader huh😇 what great timing. I have tried several times to
    grow a spider plant indoors to no avail, so this week I have started one in leca (stop smiling).
    I am a pro at spider plants outside growth my thought now is deeply on the water factor because I keep water outside or collect rain water.
    So when you said it I just screamed bingo….it’s the water.
    I am so thankful for free baby plants and Nora’s valuable and easy to understand videos TFS. 🤗

    Thank you for the video, it was very helpful. Just a quick question, could you use aquarium water conditioner to clear chlorine and other contaminants from the water before watering spider plants?

    Is it okay to use bottled water? If im growing in soil is bottom watering better for this plant or top watering?

    Water conditioners for aquarium/pond fish is cheap and available everywhere.
    They remove chlorine and chloramines in about 15 minutes.
    I only need to add a few drops to my gallon watering pitcher. Super easy.
    Too bad they don't remove fluoride.

      I don't but probably should because a lot of people ask me about it so stay tuned.

    Ive heard a lot of ppl in the plant community using the water treatment you would use in fish tanks to make it safe for your fish to live/breathe as city water is NOT safe for most fish or planted tanks! In the past I've had freshwater tanks and when my water needed treated my snails would climb out above the water level. They would return once I had the right pH and the water treated appropriately. We have HARD water and use a water system that take some sort of salt for cleaning it. It is well water but that salt was what my fish didn't like. Our system is set to clean every few days, others are set to clean every night, but in my case since it was every few days, I would get my water for my fish in the evening a cleaning was due. That seemed to help a lot. Obviously, doesn't help if you're on city water but the fish tank chemicals very likely might since they do work for planted tanks and I am seeing people using them for a fraction of the cost of stuff specifically for plants.

      @@TheLecaQueen hmmm I think Richard from Sheffield Made Plants is adding it to his water now and is having success even with calathea 🧐 🤔🤣 it's fun watching ppl who also love plants give tips that don't cost a fortune or take a lot of time or even a specialty shop!

      @@MarisaAndChew Not completely, but it is so minimal now that I have to get right up on the plant to notice it. Same with my calatheas. The newer leaves show just a teeny-tiny bit of browning on the tips or edges, but no where near like it used to be. But also, I'm not sure if I am using the correct amount of conditioner, (I only put a drop or two per gallon of water), or if my water has chemicals in it that the product doesn't delete.

    Will drops that are used for fish tanks treat the water for plants?

    • @MaryGatdula
      @MaryGatdula Před rokem +1

      Yes, but even better is to use the water from the fishtank when you are doing the cleaning/water exchanges. Don't throw out that "dirty" water! It's great fertilizer too!

    So, much like my money tree, everything I do (or don't do) will cause distress of both plant and owner. Thanks for the fantastic tips, and hopefully I can improve my poor spider plant's moody disposition. If not, there's always tip №7 🫠
