The rule is: for a minor song - go down one whole-step from the minor chord and play a major chord. I am using the simplest form of a chord here - triads. So here I am playing A Minor - G Major, back and forth. Pretty cool?

Thanks Robert. I've been doing a similar thing with an Am/Em progression on the G-B-E strings. Three voicings ascending from the 5th fret. I had meant to work this out on the D-G-B strings. You have already done the heavy lifting for me. Thanks.
You are a no fuss teacher that takes teaching slowly .No frills in the video but teachers should not be too frilly.thank you again
Wow, this is a 💡💡💡💡 moment. Thanks Rob.
Its a powerful yet simple concept.
I hope you have more of this type of clever videos.
Nice! You're the man, Robert!!!

I so needed this lesson. Now I can play around with this for hours & it sounds great regardless of the chord sequence or the tempo! Thanks Robert.

Very nice way to show how these triads work. You are one of the best teachers on the internet. Thank you Robert
A great great teacher !!!Thanks so much!
I also place often the thumb of the left hand horizontally at the back of the neck. It feels comfortable to me. Nice to see that a proper guitarist does the same.
I really love this sound progression! Wanted something to learn that sounded like Eric Johnson. Thanks so much Robert!
Awesome lesson ,great teaching. Thank You Robert.
Very welcome
I am not easily impressed. Really dig your calm, intelligent approach to teaching. Your lessons must have be shot in HD since they always come out clear and clean, You are doing a great service and a great job. Keep up the excellence.
Your lessons are very good, i will start familiarizing myself with different triad shapes on each string and randomly apply them to my playing.
I am a Brazilian guitar student, I like to thank you for this class, it´s the best class I've already seen ever... Thankou Robert Renman.

Deceptively simple, but enormously helpful. Thank you for posting this!
I just got through commenting on your question about ideas for two minute videos. One of the two key ideas I mentioned was concerning the application of Triads. Less than 30 minutes later this video shows up in my feed. Great video!

+Angel Martinez good to hear
This is a really nice lesson. I'm trying to get to the point of playing with other people. This is the kind of stuff I've been looking for.
I'm a beginner guitar player. This is the first time I've viewed one of your videos, I just happened to stumble across it and I'm glad I did. Your instructions are better than most guitar lessons on CZcams. I enjoyed the "SHORT" example of soloing using these chords, that opened up another approach for me. Would like to see more on soloing (full or Triad) chords.
Cool, thanks! I have lots of lesson on triads...
Super worthy, Robert. my practice vid for the weekend!
+miked765 great thanks!
Wow! This helped my brain connect the fact that I way underuse the Dmin chord form as an alternate voicing! I'm still working on seeing it as a distinct section of the CAGED chord/scale format.
Super fun riff.
Thanks Robert. One of your best. KISS. Love when I can learn something in 5 minutes.
Glad to hear!
Great lesson thanks
My pleasure!

+Tom Goldsmith guitar thanks!
Cool lesson.been learning all these voiceings latley.nice to get away from the plain old open chords
+Michael DeMatteis thanks
Have to agree with you Robert.... triads surely help the melodic aspects of improvising. There are many different approaches too. Where you're starting with these diatonic triads and grouping them in "triad pairs" is a great introduction. Then, as I'm sure you're aware, there are SO MANY DIFFERENT CONCEPTS which can take one from basic to more advanced soundscapes. Thanks for your no B.S. lessons!!! Best regards from Montreal. - Glenn :-)
+Glenn Michael Thompson Thanks! I'll be in Montreal in November for a few days.
Ngl it was trippy seeing you take your hands off the guitar and seeing the guitar stay in the same spot lol
Man you are a beauty....
