This week, Jack, Ethan and Edwin attempt to get the abandoned Mk2 VW Golf GTI project finally finished and legally back onto the road. They'll clean it up with a satisfying detail, then take it for the UK's challenging inspection, the MOT. Will it pass and be ready for a roadtrip in the next episode, or will it fail and need more mechanical work after the tester finds everything wrong with our GTI?

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Jack has turned into a QUALITY presenter. Awesome confidence and delivery!
Fookin right. Fine journalism. 👍 I've not subbed to Anal Alex because it's way way too shouty.
what happened to the short guy?
@@hennas87 he started his own yt channel called autoalex
He got fired
Couldn’t agree more
You can see Jack is growing into his lead role and Edwin is a cracking addition to the team!
Edwin’s been at car throttle for a while just hasn’t been in the videos much
@@kaanSakyol shouldve put him in earlier hes jokes
@@yeahyeah4433always behind camera
So refreshing to see a youtube car get finished quickly without them buying another 7 first 👍
I think I know who you are referring to...
@@crazyforcars dang son :P
😂😂😂 shots fired at everyone knows who
I was thinking the exact same thing.
@@Josh.Sanderson who is it
So just 47 brake calipers then! Well done. So nice to see it on the road.
Super funny! I’m loving his humour!
It’s like putting the centre back in to a polo 😂😂😂 I love Ethan he’s a unique human being.
It'll break his heart when he finds out that's not how Polos are made 🥲
I've just bought a mk2 golf and it's a lot easier buying one that's already on the road
What fun is that…pulling the engine and your hair out, cleaning it and your bank account out, trying to find your sanity while trying to find all the replacement bits that are missing or broken are all the things you could look forward to 😂
If you have a spare £9k lying around prices are still insane . I won't be owning another oak green GTi sadly
Oh this engine isn't staying in jt haha going something else
That’s like putting a rubber on while your misses is already on the pill what’s the fun in that 😂
You don't say.
"there's a car under that dirt" 🤣🤣
Lmao what are you doing here underpaid intern
You need a raise ASAP!
Hey youtube!
also why does this have 41 likes?
@@1203fildguy's just watching some CT whilst shitting on company time
@@1203fild Hahahahahaaa!
When Alex left I thought this would maybe just end slowly and at first I wasn’t sure if I was enjoying it but… I’m definitely starting to enjoy it again, it’s come on leaps and bounds since, jack you’re smashing it, keep going lads!
Honestly think it's better this way
100%. Alex was overly sarcastic and often came across as if he was trying too hard to be funny when he was on Car Throttle, it sometimes came across as mean spirited (mainly when it was directed at Ethan). Alex is much better on his own channel and has become a better presenter when he's surrounded by people like Taylor that match his energy.
Likewise, this channel has become much better with Jack taking on the role of the main presenter, he's self deprecating and sarcastic without coming across as hateful, and Edwin is mechanically knowledgeable while also being effortlessly funny.
The role switch up was the best thing to happen to both channels.
@@shona5512 couldn't have said it better!
@@shona5512Agreed, Alex on CarThrottle always played the role of the sarcastic but sensitive bossman
Alex couldn't have made a huge difference, just look at the subs.
This is the best this channel has ever been, love the new dynamic
Every time Edwin said “read right brake calliper” got better and better hahaha loving the chemistry between the guys and juicebox stash
What a series this is turning out to be! Sub 14 minute BTG ?👍
“It’s going home” at the end is so heart warming, it bought a tear to the eye.
I'm impressed - Jack is incredible now. Also, new tricks/camera pans etc. are a great addition. 10/10, heck time to watch CT again
Just got a mk2 GTI, already bought 13 rear right brake calipers
Alex was absolutely the centre of the Car Throttle team, and the channel could have suffered without him. The dynamic now is great though, and the content is as good as ever!
The only problem is there isn't enough of it!
I never liked Alex.
I love the fact you guys haven't made it mint, it looks used and like a true survivor, 100% the best decision to keep the rust patches and the imperfections, thats part of the cars story. Looks great 😊
Imperfections i agree but i would never leave rust
Rust kill it. Not to leave it otherwise its called rust killer 😅
I think they replaced the rear right brake caliper
When ? I must of missed that bit 😂
No, that was the rear left caliper!
The question is, did they replace that many (which is possible) or was it comedic effect
they also replaced the rear right brake caliper
Proper wholesome content, love it
Jack, Ethan and Edwin are all really fun to watch. Top work guys, this has been a brilliant series.
Must say jack and Ethan have made the series better . Jack so laid back 😅 made me fall in love with this channel all over again well done guys
amazing work, appreciate the mention of everyone who helped on this project, and not just claiming that Jack, Edwin and Ethan did all the work on the Golf
Mot advisory : Rear right brake caliper binding across 50% of axle
lol
loving edwin being on camera his humour goes really well with the others alex was a little bit aggressive and wasnt on the same humour
All Alex did was shout 😂
Imo Edwin tries too hard and isn't funny. He knows alot about cars and fixing them up, but I feel like he's pushing Ethan away, at least his screen time
This is honestly the best series you lads have done, really great watching the car come back to life!!
Love this serie's guys! Please do more restoring old classic car videos!
I can’t believe Edwin didn’t end that list of changes they made off-camera with a cheeky “and very well done if you got any of those at home.”
A golden opportunity missed to confirm that he’s Richard Oscan’s voice twin
Brilliant again guys :) it’s so good to see you putting that great car back on the road
And the love you show it
It’s exactly what I did with mine and it’s is a battle at times but so worth it when behind the wheel driving it.
Keep going superb content
Thank you Vdub:)
Cheers for the support, lads!
I'd love to see you guys restore the body on that GTI. Make it look and drive great! Nice work on getting it back on the road again. Can't wait to see more!
Absolutely loving this series!
Loved this series! Great work to see if back on the road
This is a great series, keep it up boys!
Repping the @juicebox lads🇮🇪🇮🇪 great vid lads👌
Satisfying to see it run! Well done guys! 👏🏽
Love your videos on the golf gti mk2 I currently have a white one, 8V GTI 89. Currently doing it up. Keep up the good work
So great to see it run! Well done guys! 👏🏽
Loving this! What a great car and a great series! You’ve got your mojo back! Godspeed to Wolfsburg. Godspeed.
What a fantastic series ! Looking forward to the next video!
Bringing a car back to life is definitely a challenge. Basically, anything that is made from, or contains rubber ir plastic will need replacing.
I know, having had several petrol and coolant showers!
absolutely amazing, glad to see it back on the road. should definitely bring it to the mk2 national meet. 21-23 july at curborough this year.
I love this, taking the channel back to three mates dixking about with cars... Perfect format 👌🏻
This is awesome. I
Can't wait to see more adventures with the gti.
One of my favouite series on the channel and on youtube. Can't wait to see more with the golf!
The moment you get a project like this back on the road legally is sooooo satisfying, congrats guys 👍😎
Great great little series and great great little car, good work, this team really does work and its this type of content we want from car throttle
I thought I was going crazy when I kept hearing rear right brake calliper!! This was an awesome episode 😊
The boys repping the Juice box merch. I would love a Collab between Neil and you guys 💙
Very nice MK2 😎
Class seeing everyone wearing @juice///box hoodies too 👍
this brings me back! i had a mark 2 gtd with the same exact issues you guys encountered, brake system is a pain to fix and its a chronic issue with golfs, the headlights the same, leakages everywhere, the water radiators on those used to break easily, same with the water reservatory... i miss that car everyday! 600k km in and i finally sold it due to overheating that i couldnt waste time or money into!
Awesome to see the Golf back on the road! Excited for what's next :)
Sad that nobody's giving enough props to the videography team especially the editing team... the time and effort they took to make this video feel alive! Quality is no match with other car related youtube content

I love Edwin feigning that he's explaining what's being done.
Nice work guys. Great series
Eyyy! Grat video and series chaps, you three are excellent!
Well done :) pretty satisfying result!
Loving this series so much!!
This is so good. Your dynamic is an absolute thrill. Inject it right into my veins, please.
Yes yes yes. Quality video. Keep the awesomeness coming
I'm a bit later to the party on these, but this series has been some of your guys's best work to date. Very well done.
Top job as always fellas!
Top job guys. Didn't wait for the end, just checked on the reg. Impressive turnaround from first go on the ramp!

I had an A reg Mk2 GTI in Silver, one of the very first Mk2 GTI's and these vids bring back so many fond memories!
thanks for putting another one back on the roads
I just smiled so much watching this.
Good work lads
Awesome! Can’t wait to see the trip to the mötherland! 💪🏼
loving these projects!!!
Nicely done ! Now off to the Nurburgring ! 🎉
Fair play lads, love seeing vehicles getting saved like this. Obviously it's winning no awards for looks any time soon but it could and should be on the road for many more years now
Welcome back lad's. My fav vw dub of all time 16v.❤❤
My recently revived SW20 MR2 had been in a unit for 13 years, collecting dust and as dead as we expected. She may have cranked with a fresh battery and some V-Power but she was in dire need of resto work. So my mate did just that. He dropped the engine and gearbox from the car, fabricated new brake and clutch lines, as well as replaced the old heating matrix lines. Once that was done she got new filters, new fluids, new gaskets, a new clutch and release bearing, new brake discs and pads, strut top mounts, a radiator, throttle and handbrake cables as well as a Rev4 speedometer conversion.
13 years of sitting in a barn and she flew through an MOT and is now happily back on the road. Goes to show that if you have the time, money and resources, anything can go back on the road
Keep this trio going guy's, that what makes this work!
Amazing series!
Freaking awesome content guys. So much better than most of the stuff out there.
To be continued... Can't wait to see the next chapter with this car!
Keep this series going. Well in lads
Lets go another vid on the GTI
Sunroof is love, MKII is life. :) Unreal to me that you passed MOT with rust hole in the door.
Really enjoying this series, hope you continue to get it looking mint! I took a punt on an old Citroen AX which hadn't seen an MOT in 10 years, and with a bit of TLC I got it through. Really rewarding process to bring something back from the brink.
💕💕 great ending, enjoyed watching this
These three are so good together, very entertaining.
Good luck on the ring!
Again, amazing content, a billion years better than before.
This is so vindicating. My '90 GLI had all the same brake issues. At one point the compensater decided all the fluid was better outside the car. Likewise the o-ring above the oil cooler also decided all the oil was better outside the car. Similarly the water pump...and heater core. Similarly the fuel pump. This series is a blast. Well done, guys.
Ohhhh road trip yeah 😂 glad you guys got this back on the road and not in a scrap yard, great job ❤
Well done lads 😊
Great video and great news it's got a mot now road trip
Great Video as always ❤
That ending was a banger smashed this vid like 😊
Top stuff Lads!.
You guys should bring it to the Mk2 Golf national meet next weekend.
Pretty sure you know the way. It’s in Curborough 👌
The highs and lows of dealing with old, cheap previously unloved cars in one video. Good work you lot.
This is awesome! Love seeing old gear being fixed up and made to work again (a rear right brake caliper) plus so much better to see something get a new life (a rear right brake caliper) instead if going for scrap. I’ve enjoyed all three episodes (a rear right brake caliper) so very much hoping to see more of this car in the channel in future. A rear right brake caliper. ❤
Well done chaps, lovely car 🎉
The problem with lightweight cars having disc brakes at the rear... I mean, I fixed up my dad's old Charade g102 (also stood in tall grass by a forest for 10ish years) that he had plenty of problems with the back brakes, but after I replaced everything except the drums, they have worked perfectly since.
im about to make a video doing the power steering rack in my mk2 and this is all the inspiration i need
I also had many break issues with my mk2 and replaced every single brake line and hose also master cylinder and calipers but its so worth it
i love your new photography channel
Been waiting for this 🤩
