Scarf Osteotomy

An 'osteotomy' is an operation when the bone, in this case, the metatarsal bone is divided and 'moved' into the correct position. The bony bump is usually trimmed at the same time. The operation aims to narrow the forefoot.
Because the operation involves cutting the bone, it is held in position afterwards with screws or pins until the bone heals together again. During this time, foot is usually protected in a special post-operative shoe.

I underwent this surgery on both foot joints at the same time one year ago. I have three screws in each foot holding the bones in place. So far everything has been fine. Surgery went smoothly and the surgeon and medical colleagues were very professional. I really appreciate whoever it was that made this video. I had this surgery in april they didnt shave the bone at the end the surgeon explained that the NHS dont do this anymore because there is nothing wrong with bone its just in the wrong place i was told 12 months before full recovery ... i was playing golf after 6 weeks cant rate the NHS high enough

Depende que tipo de hallux valgus tengas, si es un hallux leve moderado sin hípermovilidad no tendría indicacion en primera linea con una mini scarf o una chevron bastaria.
