Clearly happened after Claire. She was possibly hit by a car while jogging, or may have had cancer. Luke, Haley, and Alex are all grownups. This "son" was Cam and Mitch's 2nd adoption but they both passed away.

People forget that remand isn't a mere personal benefit and isn't taken lightly: dude would have been dead before justice was served, and that is a valid reason to hold a person in custody of the State
@@nsahandler No you're actually completely wrong. We don't put people in jail for their own protection, that's preposterous. Remand was the right call because he was charged with four counts of first degree murder and was potentially facing the death penalty, not because he might have been taken out by a vigilante.

Not only is this an idiotic statement, there is literally a type of arrest called "protective custody" that is literally incarceration for the purposes of keeping material witnesses safe.
Which is insane, you're not supposed to do that. The defendants attorney has a right to make a bail application, and the judge is supposed to be impartial.
Because I don't watch Law and Order, I didn't see this episode. But I'm going to say that there are too many things and people pointing to him being the murderer... for him to actually be the murderer.
So it seems likely that the murderer is someone else and Phil Dunphy is really the innocent guy we know and love. 😊

While the son did the shooting turns out he's actually a kidnap victim. Capshaw kidnapped him as a child, told him his family was dead and then Stockholm syndrome set in. I believe the kid took a plea and is going to be getting help, they also reunited him with his mom and sister.

This episode was a tough one for me. SPOILER
The child that killed the people was kidnapped and was raised by the kidnapper. The kidnapper brainwashed him he eventually went on a shooting spree while the boys real family thought he was dead. He probably wouldnt have ever done it had he not been kidnapped. I feel bad for that childs family because they already thought they had lost him once and now he lost again in a psychiatric hospital.
It really give me some chills with all the matter of the sniper, by the way this don't escape from justice

Those victims we connected to his dad in some way I can remember how but it pissed the kid off enough to kill em
From what I remember. The kid killed them as he didn't want his father to lose his job with the fear of the two of them being on the street. The kids biological mom and sister are alive not dead as he thought, and Capshaw kidnapped him and brainwashed him into thinking he was his son. The kid doesn't recognize his mom and sister and says they are lying. The stress of the kid being kidnapped led the biological father to commit suicide. I' getting long, but eventually the kid pleads not guilty by insanity and the jury buys it and is sent to a mental institution.
The episode is based on the events of the D.C. snipers, but of course twisted into a fictional story
