    I superglue those tiny pieces to a cheap #2 pencil, then you can sharpen til it is gone. Snap off the tiny bit left then sand and use again. Love your channel, keep sending us your great content and stay safe.

    As a graphic designer, non-photo blue is a life-saver! I can sketch out using NPB and then ink over it. When I go to copy it, it does not detect NPB and only the ink.

      Non photo blue is awesome! It was developed for drafting for blueprint. So you couldn't copy them! Photocopiers and some scanners do not pick it up so it is great for sketching!

    I use a Posca to put a white dot at the bottom of each pencil that I have a back-up for. If I have two or more back-ups I just add more dots. Then, when I need to replace one I grab the back-up and put the dots on it, if need be.

    What I do for backups is have a full set of Prismacolor 150 and pull from there when I need a new one. Then I write on a sheet kept in the backup box when I take one out so I know what needs replaced. When I have a few on the sheet or when I am art supply shopping anyway, I buy what I need. Keeps me super organized.

    Great video as always, Rachel 🥰. I don't always get a chance to comment but I love all your videos and am catching up on the older ones too. Loved your little tour of your art store. We have them in UK but not many & not local to me. Also thanks for great tip on the Crayolas, I have a set now and they are lovely 😍 Also good as a first layer to save the more expensive FC Polychromos I only have a set of 12 🙈, but treated myself to a 72 Prismacolour set for my birthday last month 🎂🥳. They're all so much more expensive here ... I need to come to Chicago for a craft stock trip hehe. Take care and stay safe XxX 🙋🏼‍♀️🦋🐈🌈

    Great video! I ordered the KUM sharpener based on your recommendation and it has been a game changer for me. I really enjoy using my Prismas now! I used to shop the Blick on State Street downtown. I miss the Loop so much. Been WFH since March and we are not going back before March of next year. Sigh. At least I have my coloring books!

    I too like to use Crayola in conjunction with other pencils (especially PCPs). And are you aware Crayola now has sets of 120? I bought mine not long after getting the 100 set; the additional 20 have some unique colors, e.g. asparagus and midnight blue.

    You are so lucky to have such a beautiful Blick art store to go to! I order online from them but it is harder. I need to make sure I get all the refills I need for a while at once. For future reference Crayola pencils have a 120 set on amazon. The extra colors are beautiful and well worth to get.

    Thanks so much for the shopping trip. I would love to visit a brick and mortar Blick's. But there isn't one near me and I should quarantine 24/7 anyway so It's a moot point. We did have a local Jerry's Art-A-Rama but that was taken out by the March tornado. I'm grateful both retailers are on-line. I also check Wal-Mart online. Even though It's usually not the lowest priced option, there's a large selection of coloring books and some products and brands you won't see in store. And I know it isn't the first time, but thanks again for sticking up for the Crayola 100 set. There are some great colors in that box. Outer Space, Harvest Gold, Blue Bolt, Mango, a good selection of earth tones and pinks too. I have full or partial sets of 9 different brands and sometimes only a Crayola color will do. I mean, you gotta love a brand with a color named Fuzzy Wuzzy.
    I've rambled on long enough, but I want to finish with a big thank you. I've been watching and learning from youl for a couple of years now. Thanks for sharing your talent and your time. This is a good place to hang out. Stay safe everybody.

    New to your channel and while I have been coloring for some time, I am just starting to with with blending and Gamsol. Thank you for the great video. We had a Blick art supply unfortunately it closed. I used up my outer space pencil as well. It is such a good shadow color. I store it separately with blenders and white pens etc. I have been putting off replacing it since i have used up 3 so far and it feels wasteful to keep buying a full set of pencils . For now im using prismacolor's black grape, it is stronger so not as easy to use. Im going to call crayola and ask if they can sell a pack of crayola "greatest hits" lol.

    @FernCurtis Před 3 lety +1

    Rachel-you really need to glue your short ones to a regular graphite pencil so you can use all of the pencil up, like at least one other person mentioned....that is precious lead your throwing away otherwise! I am not quite there, but that’s what I am going to be doing when I do get pencils that short!

  • @maureennevers9039
    @maureennevers9039 Před 3 lety +1

    Kudos for the extreme restraint in Blick! So I’m wondering why you would not use the set of new/full pencils and keep the shorter/used ones for backup? It’s still not wasteful, and you could enjoy all the beautiful pencils instead of having them tucked away. Also if you don’t use certain colors much you may never get to the new one 😳!

  • @brendarocheck3988

    I have ordered from Blick. In fact am expecting an order to arrive in a few days. On an order of $45 or more, they’ll ship free. I’m trying to get all the Prismas. I can find some Prismas locally at Michaels, but they carry only about 1/3 of the colors. Thanks for the videos, Rachel. I enjoy them. I guess I am going to have to break down and buy a set of Crayolas to see for myself. I already have Prismas and Derwent Procolours. More is better, I guess.

      Deidre Lewis, we might not have many brick and mortar stores, but you can find many supplies online. Try artsavingsclub.co.za for Polychromos, Caran d'Ache Luminance and Pablo, Derwent Inktense, Procolour and Coloursoft. They also have Bruynzeel and Goldfaber. Many of them are available open stock. Deckle Edge in Cape Town (they also have a brick and mortar store) also has plenty, like Caran d'Ache, Derwent, Polychromos, Lyra and even Colleen. Stencil-art.co.za is a local supplier for Prismacolor Premier (also open stock available), Derwent, Koh-I-Noor and Polychromos. You can also try Artist Warehouse. I mostly buy art supplies online, and the service from these shops have been excellent! I just don't know how stock levels will be at the moment. P.S. artsavingsclub usually have great Black Friday deals and often run a Caran d'Ache promo for Black Friday (That's how I got my Luminance and Pablo's practically half-price!).

      Crayolas are awesome, i grew up using them and will always have a full set in stock. As far as quality, they are wonderful, maybe not as lightfast as my luminance or polychromos but neither are my well loved prismacolors, and the crayolas dont break like the fragile prismacolors either.
