  • Full review on the Parajet Maverick Atom 80. If you want to skip all the preliminaries go to:
    1. 4:07 - initial breakdown of what's included after the un-boxing
    2. 9:00 - Full review after the assembly and engine break in
    3. 24:15 - Final updates
    So far it's a beautiful machine, well constructed and the Atom 80 has been smooth as silk with 1 pull starting. Now, I'm just waiting for some nice weather to fly!

      Yes, I have flown and owned a few but not always by design. Just finished flying the first 10 hours on the Maverick and won't be switching for some time if I can help it! Thanks for the comments.

    I actually have the "Fly Products" Eclipse now. (have never flown a MacFly). I will do a comparison between the two when I have some time on the Eclipse. So far, in general, I am really liking the Eclipse. The Maverick is also very nice and I think it will probably be up a toss up for some. Stay tuned...

    Nice video. Thanks for the info. I didn't notice if anyone else comment on your audio levels, but they seemed to be inconsistent between some of your shots - some were quiet and others were louder. Just an fyi. 8^)

    • @loums52
      @loums52  Před 5 lety

      It is 16.25 inches in width to the inside of each swing arm. It definitely is a snug fitting harness but comfortable unless someone is very wide!

    I thought I heard you say 5 hours of motor break-in?
    That's insane.
    Start it, run it up to temp, and do a full cool down.
    Start again and run up to temp, varying the rpms mid to medium high. Run for a bit like that and let it cool again.
    You shouldn't go full throttle right outta the gate but babying it for hours does nothing. You want some load on the rings. You actually even need them to wear a little. I think that scares people if they don't work on their own motors, but that is part of the break in.
    Torque check the bolts, do a final inspection, and pin it!
    Never had any issues with any of my 2 strokes, new, or rebuilds.

    • @loums52
      @loums52  Před 5 lety +1

      Parajet with the Atom 80 has a very detailed break in period with a specific oil mixture. First phase of the 5 hour break-in is a series of run up and idle and then cool down for a total of 4 cycles and then the remaining portion is a max of 30 minute flights with gradual acceleration and deceleration for the balance of the 5 hours. If one expects Vittorazi to honor any warranty claims then I would recommend anyone using their product to follow their protocol.

    Great video, thanks. Was that 46 lbs with the reserve?

    • @loums52
      @loums52  Před 5 lety +1

      No, the reserve adds about 3 lbs. BUT the whole unit feels really nice on my back. I flew yesterday with almost 8 liters of fuel and it just felt so comfortable that I wasn't even thinking that it was at all heavy. Super easy forward and after landing I was just talking away with this paramotor on my back and not even thinking about it!

    @sirrabo8804 Před 5 lety +1

    You mentioned you got rid of your Top 80 because of the weight limitation, but then you ended up getting the Atom 80. Is there that much more power with the Atom 80 than the Top 80?

  • @MrCoolcool666

    Hey Lou, Have you tried the epsilon 9 with the maverick? I ordered the hybrid risers for mine so i can use my epsilon as my PG/PPG wing when i start PPG, Thanks!

    • @loums52
      @loums52  Před 4 lety

      I have flown with the Epsilon 8 as well as with the Spyder. Overall, I actually liked the Ep 8 the best. The only thing I missed was the higher cruise speed that the Spyder provided but for everything else I always liked the Ep. 8. I think the Ep 9 would be at least as good and apparently it may glide better??? The hybrid risers work well but not as much trimmer travel as with solely PPG wings. As a dual wing, I think the Epsilon 9 would be great. The Spyder was NOT a great PG wing.

    • @loums52
      @loums52  Před 4 lety

      ...also you are cautioned not to use a speed bar with the trimmers out on the Hybrid risers.

      @loums52  Před 5 lety

      Probably very slow to climb, especially at any altitude. You might be running a long time to launch! A Moster 185 much better but unfortunately also heavier and not as good on gas. If only there was an "Atom 125"! A great wing would help but still would be very iffy.

    Nice video. I'm 61 and find this sport fascinating. I'm a private pilot, fly several drones, 5 meter Prism traction kite and water kite experience. Where would you recommend training? For a 200 lb guy what Parajet and sail configuration would you recommend? Thanks, Rick from Kansas

    • @loums52
      @loums52  Před 4 lety

      Thanks! You would definitely need a larger engine then the Atom 80 and Vittorazi does make the Moster for your weight range. There are certainly other engines and paramotor frames out there. If you are in Kansas, check out the USPPA website for some local schools that try to follow a standard curriculum. There is also Blackhawk Paramotors in Kansas (I believe) and they have a "love them, not so much love them" following out there. They make lots of videos so you can check them out and see what you think. BUT do NOT think about buying motor, frame or wing before you train. Hopefully your instructor will have some different options and he/she will advise you on what fits best. AND see if you really like the sport before laying down a chunk of money. You may love foot launch or even decide you want a wheels launch configuration instead after some training. In the meantime, it's fun to just search around first and there are LOTS of training promos online but always remember it is no substitute for real training. A LOT can go wrong unless you train properly. Best wishes and hope you decide to train.
