    Complete Guide to Gods: • The COMPLETE Guide to ...
    The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
    The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

I do think that some of the Nords have gotten a little lazy Whiterun looks like shit so I agree with you when it comes to that. There should have been some kind of repair to the city after the battle for Whiterun I mean they have a valid reason to fix that crap and they don't do anything. Seriously I don't think most of the Nords really want the Empire there you know the outlawing of Talos is all you hear about pretty much throughout the whole game. At least the Nords are still Nords the Imperials are mixed race that have descended mostly from Nedic and Nord stock.

    I just made a new nordic mage build using some mods, he's a nordic history enthusiast and is as true a nord as any. However, he follows the old ways and is a mage and seeks to become greater than any of the dragon priests of old, even taking on his own dragon name. This video just inspired me even more to play on him and keep him as nordic as possible. He has no mercy for elves, reveres the dragon but devours their souls. Worships the old gods, but reveres "newer" gods of nordic origin such as Talos as a mighty hero. It's fun overall.

They landed in Skyrim and went for Mournhold, from my understanding. Mournhold is rather eastern in Morrowind. Near the coast. If Akavir is east of Tamriel, then why didn't the Kamal just land in Morrowind and just take Mournhold within a day or two? Instead of getting chased across Tamriel on their extremely roundabout way only to eventually fail in their goal? Doesn't Mysterious Akavir mention that Akavir is larger than Tamriel? 1) Snow Elves presumably like cold weather
    2) Magnus was the architect of Mundus, so presumably the Eye of Magnus could assist the user in re-architecting the world
    3) Ysgrammor was so angry/concerned about what the Snow Elves were going to do (or had already done) that he felt the need to eliminate them entirely
    4) Atmora froze over the following centuries, forcing its abandonment
    My theory is that the Snow Elves were trying to use the Eye to remake the world to have a climate suitable for them. Ysgrammor saw this as genocide and worldwide destruction. He was able to stop them from completely remaking the world, but they changed enough that Atmora would be doomed to freeze.

      I would guess it was more reactionary.
      The Snow Elves wanted to keep the Eye of Magnus from the Nords because they were not nearly as advanced or intelligent. The nords fought back and lost. Then came back and started wiping out the Falmer, then the Falmer used the eye to try and freeze Atmora, but lost anyway.

    Theory time:
    Giants are shown to have pointy/elven like ears, yet are supposedly also descendants from the Atmoran (proto) Nords, just like current day Nords.
    All Nords and other human races supposedly lost their long life spans that were like that of Mer when Alduin/Orky (don't remember who did it) turned them all into children.
    Could it be that this is a metaphorical way of saying they lost their long life spans, and thus became "ignorant like Mer children" due to their short lives?
    Let alone that all races of Man originally also had, not only long lifespans, but also pointy ears?
    I do believe it might not be possible as I think I recall a story about Ysgramor who was hunting that might contradict that, but I'm not sure when Alduin/Orky stole all races of Men their lifespans. (before or after the Atmoran Nords came to present day Skyrim)

    I like to think that Atmora was one of three things. Either it was an old elven site where the summer-magic slowly faded, or a volcanic area which changed over time, or else it was just a fable - a warped spoken history, the old speaking well of their old homes. I tend to think the first one is fairly likely, as the Nords seem quite intrigued by patterns and motifs as well, which could be inspired by the elven ruins. You could see their rune-work motifs as crude copies of the flowing Ayleid or Altmeri lines. I also think that the fact they share a reverence for winged things and things of the air, to be a curious coincidence, not just in the divine analogies.

    • @neerGdyahS
      @neerGdyahS Před 4 lety +4

    • @TheTdroid
      @TheTdroid Před 4 lety +13

      To be fair, the Thalmor and the Empire are both planing to go to war again. The peace is temporary. So let's not pretend Ulfric is changing anything there.
      For my own part, the Empire seems to be dying and they showed themselves perfectly willing to sacrifice the provinces to save Cyrodiil, as we saw with Hammerfell, so I can hardly blame the Stormcloaks for wanting out.
      Also, fun dialogue from Morrowind:
      "The Emperor is getting old. Don't know how much longer he'll hang on. So is the whole Empire, for that matter. Getting old, that is. The Emperor and the legions have held the Empire together for hundreds of years. It's been a good thing, by and large. But maybe it's time for a change. Time for something young and new. What? No idea. Because I'm old. Old dog doesn't get new ideas. But maybe young folks like you should try some new ideas. I don't know. Could be messy. But change is never pretty." - Wulf, Avatar of Talos

    • @caspianhorlick4529
      @caspianhorlick4529 Před 4 lety +5

      On the one hand I understand Skyrim's hate of Talos worship being outlawed, but Ulfric dragging Skyrim into a bloody civil war is the worst response possible. The Stormcloaks and the Empire need to unite against their true enemy, the Thalmor, who are watching the citizens of Skyrim destroy each other.

    • @neerGdyahS
      @neerGdyahS Před 4 lety +6

      @@TheTdroid You're completely missing the issue, it's not that Ulfric is pushing for hostilities with the Thalmor. Like you say, the war is going to resume anyway. The issue is that he's weakening both Skyrim and the Empire with his actions. He's giving the Thalmor what they want and setting them up to win. Regardless how you feel about the Empire, the Thalmor are bad news, and powerful. Which is part of why the Empire would be willing to sacrifice to preserve themselves.

      Funny observation; the Reach as described in the Pocket Guide, 1st Edition is nothing like we see it in Skyrim. However, the *Western Reach* as decribed under the High Rock section is very much fitting with the Forsworn. So it looks like the Nords held onto land from High Rock, at the very least.

      We are currently in the Skyrim Dark Ages.
      The Nords have been servants of the Empire for centuries, and have slowly decayed because of infectious Cosmoploitainism.
      The same thing happened to the Imperials themselves; the old ways were more advanced, more powerful, more worthwhile, but the Empire has grown fat, lazy, and is now rotten to its core.

    • @TheTdroid
      @TheTdroid Před 3 lety +6

      In short? Because Tamriel is regressing, not advancing, technologically and magically. While a fictionalized version of history, the in-game book series "Last Year of the First Era" makes a point of the coming of the 2nd Era changing everything, which lines up pretty well with the current state of things.
      Another possibility is that things only seems more badass and advanced in the past because we're looking back with incomplete information.

    • @iwonakaplon3399
      @iwonakaplon3399 Před 2 lety

      @@TheTdroid honestly id argue that its less to do with regression and more with the lack of a central power thats invested in skyrim. the high kings under the empire seem to have less power over the other holds than they did when independently ruling, so great feats of architecture and such just aren't as possible. take ancient Egypt for example. the pharaohs ruled with an incredibly tight grip due to their control of the nile, and hence their word was absolute and unquestionable in most cases. thats really what made the pyramids possible. compare them with, for example, the later Muslim caliphs and sultans who would rule Egypt. they either didn't have the same power, wealth, and influence as the pharaohs of old did, or like the ottoman sultans were more interested in bettering their capital and the real core of their empire, and so even tho they were all more technologically advanced than the ancient Egyptians, none left such longlasting monoliths.
