OSU has one of the largest fan bases. Very high preseason ranking means more of those fans are watching games because of national implications. Which is the reason they're in ABC's primetime slot almost every week bringing in big advertising bucks. Even when the game is predicted as a blowout against a non ranked opponent. More competitive games could be put in the headlining game of the week slot, but usually ESPN lands on Ohio St. Although, it was a blowout, just not the one on paper. Don't worry, O$U won't fall far in the rankings, and exceptions will made to squeeze them into the playoffs if they finish the season with only 1 or 2 loses. Even with the absence of a conference title, because, they're great on paper.

The last time I remember a Purdue team beating such a highly ranked Big Ten team was when they beat Plaxico Burress and #5 Michigan State. Drew Brees and the Boilers put up 50+ and we were chanting "Overrated" in the stands by the 3rd quarter. We had to switch it up and chant "Drive Home Safely" to the same cadence so we had something new to chant.
