Charles Fourier drawing video: • TIMELAPSE: Caricatura ...
Fourier's book on cuckoldry: www.amazon.com/Hierarchies-Cu...
"Socialism: Utopian and Scientific" by Engels has a section on utopian socialism generally, and Fourier in particular: www.marxists.org/archive/marx...

So, he was the father of clickbait too? I mean, "the 16 misfortunes of married life" are just a few steps away from “16 things all married people HATE about being married”
Glad I’m not the only viewer who immediately had clickbait pop into my head when those lists were being read out
I agree to an extent. But, it's truly only clickbait if the content delivered is not worth the viewer's time, or a complete bait and switch. I imagine Fourier dedicated much more time and effort to his work than 26 year old Communications majors living in Brooklyn.
Dude is the Buzzfeed of Philosophy
The category you're looking for is "listicle"
1010ZZZ1010 lol
“A serious and good philosophical work could be written consisting entirely of jokes."
-Wittgenstein

Well that's still better than a bs metaphysical system alla Hegel
Zizek's entire body of work
"Any schoolkid that doesn't pay attention gets the philosophically clear ass beating" - Wittgenstein
Wittgenstein once received a bulldozer as a gift. Upon climbing into the controls, he pondered whether or not Bertrand Russell ever sat in a bulldozer. He then declared that God exists.
90% : wife-related bafflement. 10% philosophy.
who doesnt want to be his wife
This is an outrage!!!!
if fourier was alive today he'd definitely be making top 10 lists on youtube
He would sneer at top 10 list and call them pathetic.
Then he would put out a top 899 Minecraft mods evaluation 10-hour video and break down the list in four different ways based off of different metrics
Fourier is obsessed with clickbait titles I see
lmfao
I always just assumed it was a poorly done Schopenhauer portrait. Informative video!
Yeah I was thinking Schöpenhauer also.
2020 Sanders: Make the Oceans into Lemonade
Okay look. The oceans have horded the top 1% of the top 10% of usable salt for the past several decades. Meanwhile, the working class of our country are struggling to put salt on the table. With my amendment to the Lemonade Bill, I'm proposing a small contribution of the oceans in exchange for much needed lemonade redistribution. It's time the ocean pays its fair share of salt. No more empty salt shakers for the working poor!
I prefer Joseph Fourier's philosophy that all functions are just a sum of cosine and sine frequency components.
@Real Donald Trump By the duality theorem, the inverse Fourier transform is proportional to the transform of the reflected function (varies with convention). Therefore, it would still be a Fourier Transform, only backwards in it's arguments. Perhaps space and/or time.
*adds Fourier to the mountain of books to read and accidentally causes an avalanche*
Stay calm, I'm sending help.
way too relateable
He looks cute in a nonsexual way. Like he looks so angry
Strange because he was apparently a nice, kind of head in the clouds dreamy, fellow if this video was anything to go by.
C'mon, you'd hit that.
The first tsundere waifu
He looks like he is trying to look angry while holding back a laugh.
He looks like he has a foot fetish
"Wife" is metaphorical here.
Was expecting a joke video but received a fascinating essay on how a difference in perspective on even small societal issues can lead to a much more productive way of thinking
7:56 my dude was a one man buzzfeed team
This is amazing. I wrote my BA thesis on Charles Fourier in my youth. You have done a great job presenting his thought. Fourier needs do be known and read again. There is so much that we can learn from him. Many of his predictions are coming true. For instance, the emphasis on gender issue was already envisioned very clearly in his Le Nouveau Monde Amoreux (The New World of Love). He was a brilliant and estravagant thinker like no other. His system of 12 passions is also very valid and its application to what we would call the "psychology of work" is also very relevant today. It is no surprise that some advanced companies are implementing policies that go in a similar direction. The only thing that is missing in this video is a discussion of the crucial notion of "Work as Playing " which will be retaken by H.Marcuse.
What was your thesis called? Is it online anywhere?
+1 above comment, very curious and want to read!
Interested too!
@@RegardeLeBeauMouton Thanks so much for your interest! I really appreciate that. Unfortunately, it is in Italian. I would love to translate it in English. I may attempt that and let put it up on the internet!

7:52 Fourier would’ve made a great Buzzfeed writer. The man was a master of listicles.
This whole thing somehow reminded me of Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon"
a standard western musical scale has 7 notes. 12 notes are all of the notes in the western music within a single octave (so all the notes before any single one is repeated)
Thank you for the correction!
@@jonasceikaCCK you're welcome!
I mean, we do still use a 12 tone equal tempered system though,
But I mean those 12 tones are pretty arbitrary but it’s a fascinating idea none the less,
This dude was definitely some kind of pattern recognising visionary
it means the chromatic scale - scales are sets of pitches, and our notes are a set of pitches
the term is used the way mr philosophy used it, but rarer (only in the context of tuning)
@@jonasceikaCCK its not entirely accurate though! The 7 notes he's talking about are the diatonic scales
Congratulations on your book deal! That's excellent news and I look forward to reading it.
Congratulations on your book deal! I'll be very interested to read it, as I have learned a voluminous amount from you thus far.
Glad to see another vid, really enjoyed this one since I never knew much about Fourier!
This channel is so relaxing yet thought provoking.
i'm genuinely sooo happy that you're gonna have a book published
Thank you for this video. I just finished Proudhon's "What is Property?" He criticizes fourierists of his day pretty thoroughly, and been looking for a bird's eye view of this thinker outside of Wikipedia. Thanks.

just a latenight tipsy note; lofi beats with your videos are very, very relaxing, your narration has a pretty smooth rhythm to it
Literally just finished the chapter on Fourier in Callinicos' "revolutionary ideas of Karl Marx" and this drops (worth a read for a concise and understandable connection of marxs fundamental ideas and analysis to modern capitalism if anyone's in need of a good summary)
Is there a .pdf of Hierarchies of Cuckoldry anywhere?
Because I feel like I'd get my own page in the book being forced to pay $12 for something written 200 years ago

Thought for a moment this was the same dude that came up with the Fourier Transform Function. Was about to say this guy was a genius on a whole other level.
As close to damn perfect as it gets. Both educational & hilariously meme-able.
Gday from the Zero comments mate
ok, that video is already my favorite of yours.
This video is amazing :) thank you for introducing me to the face of the channel, he seems a real interesting read, if a bit out there
Thank you for this (I still wish I had watched the animation video before it was taken down)
Thank you. I had heard of Fourier, that he had proposed a utopia, but that's all I knew. This video is a brilliant exposition (though I found watching the drawing proceed to be a fascinating distraction). This video is an example of how one can (choosing wisely) receive a rich education for CZcams. Thank you.
An analysis of cuckholdry actually seems like a pretty good way to try and figure out the shape of hierarchical power structures and their contradictions.
Yeah that's what my ex-wife's divorce lawyer and now husband told me
This video is the peak of informativeness and entertainment both at the same time.
Thank you for masterpiece video.

Fourier is my favorite utopian socialist especially for his critique of work.
@@cosmicwakes6443 My existence is being forced to perpetuate the killing of the third world in all commercial interaction, and all commercial relations within the third world perpetuates the killing of the third world as well. Capitalism is horror.
@@cosmicwakes6443 The critique of work is the critique of capitalism at one of it's most fundamental levels, work is nessicarily the basis for a class relation and arises directly out of the generalization of the value-form.
@@cosmicwakes6443 good job, you took a societal issue and used it to claim someone's personal failing. Now go watch the video again.
@@NihongoWakannai It wasn't a personal attack, but rather, I emphasized the inequality in our world engendered by imperialism. It is deluded to think that the west in general doesn't benefit from imperialism at the expense of the global south.

Absolutely amazing.
Excellent video!
Mystical Cuckold just sounds hilarious to me for some reason, just the mental image of a surprised and shocked shaman or alchemist. Sigh, guess this is another title to add to my list of books I have to read, simply because the title/subject matter seems so odd that someone must have put a lot of thought into it for it to ever have been published (The Gay Science taught me not to judge a book by its title).
Will you make any more movie analyses? Really loved that stuff along with the music analyses like the K-Pop video or the world music video
awesome, as always
Honestly I mistook the title to imply Joseph Fourier was both a mathematician and a philosophy.
I love this channel
The city I live in, Northampton MA, was once a fourierist commune!

In case you didn't know by now: he released a link to it on the community tab of his channel, which takes you to the video on Google Drive.
Side-note: it really sucks that the video was taken down and will probably remain so, as I believe it's actually my favorite Cuck Philosophy video - it honestly gave me several really profound feelings of a refreshing change in perspective (both in how to see Studio Ghibli's films, and it affected my broadest outlook on the world), also it made Heidegger's ideas a lot less intimidating for me and more resonating.
@@kristianj.8798 thanks man :)
I'm not sure if I agree with your politics (if you have any), but I like the intelligent discussion and subtle sense of humor. Exploring different ideas in depth while keeping a sense of levity is an accomplishment in itself.
Does any of you know about fiction heavily inspired on Fourier's ideas you would recommend? Since I learned about him and read a little from The Theory of the Four Movements, I've thought it would be pretty awesome a cartoon inspired on his utopia. Not your standard American children's cartoon, because the free love part is quite important, but when I hear about that fantastic planet, "lemonade sea" and riding giant tigers (also friendly whales, sharks , crocodiles, hippos, working with people) I can't help but imagine something like Adventure Time crossed with some Ron Regé Jr. comics.
The ending was fucking hilarious. Great vid.
This was amazing
lovely video thanks!

amazing. thank you.
Huh, that under-regulation of the economy & over-regulation of the personal actually really captures the problem with the right wing.
"Capitalism requires the family (as an essential means of reproducing and caring for labor power; as a salve for psychic wounds inflicted by anarchic social-economic conditions), even as it undermines it (denying parents time with children, putting intolerable stress on couples as they become the exclusive source of affective consolation for each other)"
