Some years ago I became interested in Elbert Hubbard. The resident crafters of East Aurora, the artist colony he founded, used wood and copper to create functional art, but it's his printed work that I collect. Hubbard was a philosopher and a writer, so it was natural for him to go into publishing. "The Philistine," which came out monthly, was something like a portmanteau of a magazine and a pamphlet, and an outlet for his views on subjects like racism, capitalism, and misogyny. I have the "Founding Fathers" editions of the Roycroft Press "Little Journeys to the Homes of the Great" series. Biography in Hubbard's time was more like hagiography, but the handcrafted books themselves are beautiful objects. I hope you get thousands of views, and that you keep going with more videos!
Thank you for your comments. I had not heard of Elbert Hubbard. What an interesting man and what a sad end to his life. Thank you for your kind words. I do intend to create more videos, so please keep looking out for them.
I'll look out for them!
