    • @tdotw77
      @tdotw77 Před 9 měsíci +3

    • @IDuBStepSZ
      @IDuBStepSZ Před 9 měsíci

      Moly grease is better, but as long as a good quality grease is used, it's unlikely to make that much of a difference.
      Long term, if it doesnt get regreased again then there will likely get more worn down. They do generally use very hard steel for the gears though, so it's going to take years to see significant wear.

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  Před 11 měsíci +31

      Good question, simply answer feedback.
      This is actually a good way to tell how good a brand is. It's actuly not a good thing to simply replace every broken tool. That's now cheap disposable tools are some cheap and useless.
      Big brands want thier tools to work right so they use the spare parts being sold to see what parts are failing most often and identify any repeat failures.
      So if this where a common problem, bosch will redesign and improve the part. You see this quite often. And you can see what parts have been redesigned as they normaly get a new part number.
      This is what keep the quality high.
      When a manufacture simply replaces a tool with out fixing or looking at it, it means they have designed and built them as cheap as possible to make the disposable. And have no interest in if they fail.
      Also this shows how cheap disposable tools actually are, as they have already allowed for the extra cost or replacing tools in the price if the unit to begin with.

Mass produced, throw away car engines like the new Mini. The Germans found that out in WW2 where a cig butt could stop a Tiger Tank. Im building a 81 RM465 from a frame, its a full nut and bolt restoration or build. I use white spirit to soak and clean the parts i get. Is that what you use to de-grease everything? Cheers.

Things like bearings, gears, bolts, spacers, stuff really baked on I put in a jam- jar or tub of white spirit and leave them for a week or 2. It really does the trick and its cheap. Problem is it takes a while. Are you over in Ireland? I'm after an airbox and a tank if you know anyone with any early 80's big bore Suzuki RM's lurking in any sheds. Took me 5 years to find an engine.m for this thing. Just a chipping away lol.
