    What helped me with rosacea while having an anti-aging routine is to wait around 20 minutes after washing my face and then go with other products. It really decreased irritation. I started investigating different forms of Vitamin C and went for more stable and delicate ones that are better for rosacea skin than pure ascorbic acid that can be highly irritating. I use serum with 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbyl Glucoside combined with raspberry ketones. I can do retinal every night without issues - I will double cleanse, put hydrating serum mixed with peptides, azelaic acid 15%, retinal + heavier moistruiser :) For morning it would be splash of water + hydrating serum (skin79 water biome ampoule) + vitamin c serum + peptides (mary & may 6 peptide complex serum) + azelaic 15%/geek&gorgeous apad (depanding how my skin is doing) + sunscreen.

    I suffered from rosacea for months before I knew that’s what I had. Rosiver (Soolantra in the USA) changed my skin. It’s expensive, but one 60g tube lasts me over 6 months. I have had no rosacea flares since 2021 and when I realised I could, reduced to using only 1-3 x / week. Highly recommend for rosacea!

      I’m sorry you’ve had no luck with it. If it does nothing to help your rosacea, maybe you should try other treatments. Have you tried Finacea / azalaic acid? I will pray you find something that helps you! I fully know how horrible it is to manage it when nothing is helping!

    Late to this video, but I wanted to chime in about my own retinoid frequency. I've used retinoids over three years now, and, like you, every time I try going every day, it just doesn't work out for me. That made me reluctant to even try Tret, but I finally dipped my toe in at 0.025%, and you know what? It's FINE. I've actually had ZERO irritation, ZERO purging, ZERO anything except better results. Maybe that's because I got my skin going so long with OTC retinol, I don't know. I started off twice a week for two weeks, then three times, then every other day, which is where I am currently and plan to stay. Bye, non-Tret retinols! Eventually, I may try to go to 0.05% strength; we'll see. I always do an ultra-hydrating routine, with or without Tret, and yes, I do use azelaic acid with it. I had been using Peach Slices, but now I'm trying the 14% Azelaic Acid Booster from Isomers and I really like it so far.

    • @ChristaEvelyn
      @ChristaEvelyn  Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! Very similar to mine, years of OTC retinoids, with the last year quite focused on retinal; then... finally starting tret which I never could have imagined years ago.
      I haven't tried Isomers - thank for the recommendation!

    Hello Christa! Thank you for such a fantastic video! Over the last year, my rosacea has become more reactive, and I have had to prioritize my skin barrier health and decrease my usage of tretinoin. I had been using Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid Boost, but I began to experience an unpleasant tingle, so I decided to try The Inky List’s Azelaic Acid, and thank goodness the tingle has gone away, but I’ve found if my sunscreen or base makeup is too emollient then things can begin to pill. Sigh, the struggles of finding a great skincare routine, LOL! Happy Sunday; I hope you have a fabulous week!

      @ChristaEvelyn  Před rokem +1

      Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! I love the Inkey List azelaic acid too :). The struggles of pilling are real, I try to let each layer of my routine dry down in between steps, and then mist if I need to apply something to damp skin - but... in the AM that is tricky because of time!

    I'm experiencing a bit of perioral dermatitis so turned to a 10% azelaic acid emulsion, which also contains a little niacinamide and salicylic acid, after ruling out a fungal cause. Using it once a day during sleep hours under a non-reactive moisturizer or squalene, and it's stopped the dermatitis in its tracks. Unsure what triggered the dermatitis (suspect it's hormonal + weather exacerbated) but paring back my skin care routine and adding azelaic acid has certainly been helpful.

    Thanks Christa- highly informative and helpful!! I consulted an online physician called “NURX”- sent face photos & was prescribed 15% Azelaic acid. I love it- but your video reinforces my confidence. I will continue my journey to healthy skin barrier. PS - I’m seeing that eating more green cabbage, & celery juicing support my micro biome and skin. Also am using oil of oregano internally and a product called “Solaris” internally to deal with gut parasites I might have picked up in Egypt March 2023 ( along with too much sun and heat despite my hat- hence the rosacea flare up). My insurance company decided they would no longer cover azelaic they now consider azelaic "cosmetic" not medical!! So I was on the hunt for a good azelaic acid because I cannot go without this for my rosacea. I finally found Dermatica Clarifying Azelaic Acid 20% Cream (they have a 15% also) and OMG!! Just as good as my prescription and does not pill! Does not dry me out!! They added ceramides, squalane and glycerin. Price is good for me too way better than the $100 pharmacy would charge me plus I found a youtuber (Dr. Alexis Stephens) that has discount codes so I'm sold and will never look back!

    I can use Retinal daily, and my skin seems to really like it. (I even use salicylic every other day, which my skin also really likes, and in the same routine as retinal.)
    I use my azelaic acid in the morning, and I've seen amazing results! I definitely recommend everyone who has rosacea to try azelaic acid at least once.
    I've thought about trying to go up to using it two times a day but I haven't had the guts to try yet, though this video is making me think about it, lol. (When I get irritation it normally hits fast and hard, so I'm cautious of switching around my actives in my routine, and of new products that contain an active.) I'm one of those people who did have a little bit of that biting-feeling irritation that azelaic can cause initially, so if I try I'll definitely do it slowly.

    Hi. I’m on a prescription with tretinoin, vitamin C, kojic acid, hydroquinone, hyaluronic acid and hydrocortisone. I have melisma and some rosacea. My skin is not really affected by this prescription but really I have not seen any improvement either. Before I started the prescription I used over the counter retinol and azelalic acid. I’m thinking about adding the azelalic acid back in my nighttime routine. Because I wear makeup I keep my morning routine simple with moisturizer, primer, sunscreen and some makeup. I have pores so the makeup helps conceal them and makes my melisma less noticeable. I’m hoping getting back on the azelalic acid helps me too. I wonder if you tried a prescription with the hydrocortisone in it if it would help with the irritation?

      PLEASE READ: Today I had to stay for 6 hours in the hospital because of azelaic acid. After 10 days of use due to Rosaceae, my face, my eyesight, tongue and throat were swollen with strange pressure on my throat and on my chin. I had already noticed that my face was purging in the first 10 days, but I continued to use it after having seen the dermatologist for a double check. In the last two days my face started to get puffy. This morning at 04h30 AM I woke up half choking and with swollen eyes. I used Skinoren, 20% azelaic acid. At the hospital the nurse told me that she had seen more cases of reactions to azelaic acid. It triggered histamine upon renewing the deep skin tissue. This product can be dangerous. I will never ever come even near it.

    does vitamin c always need to be applied before azelaic acid and not the other way around?

    • @ChristaEvelyn
      @ChristaEvelyn  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I really don’t think it matters. I apply my products based on consistency (thinnest - thickest consistency), but also make exceptions. My prescription AA is quite thick vs my preferred vit c is very watery.

      I clearly remember Dr. Dray saying in one of her videos that it made absolutely no difference if you use a retinoid at night. I trust her advice completely, so a water cleanse for me even the days I use a retinoid at night :)

      @jonirischx8925 Před 27 dny

      This is anecdotal, but if your retinol cream that you use at night has chemical exfoliants (BHA, AHA), like mine does, it makes sense to use a cleanser in the morning to get them all out. I've noticed that if I don't use my cleanser in the morning, and just rinse with water, my skin feels irritated the whole day.

    I have rosacea and derms have been trying to get me onto Azelaic Acid but concentrations of 15%+ tingle and sting so much that I always give up on it. Now I've been testing out azeloglycine but still am not sure if it does anything.
    On other notes, I'm able to use tret every night (0,025) and red wine and sun exposure are definite triggers for me too :(

    Is this as good as c vitamin?

    • @ChristaEvelyn
      @ChristaEvelyn  Před 6 měsíci

      It is used for different reasons. AA works to reduce inflammation, and can assist with clearing out the pores in turn leading to less acne, whereas vitamin c focuses on collagen production, brightening the skin and acts as a protector from environmental stressors (because it is an antioxidant). So depending on your skin needs - there is a place for both!
