New Soup on the DS was my first ever proper video game when I was 6. I remember the long car journeys spent running around with the blue shell power up. As a 12 year old I remember playing New Soup U on holiday with a friend I made there. When Wonder comes out I'll be 19, gotta admit this is the most excited I've been for any Mario game, it looks incredible! Will always be grateful for the New Soup series for the good times and for allowing us to get this far.

With the NSMB series being the revival of 2D Mario since Super Mario World, it deserves a grand farewell. The first ever Nintendo game I played was New Super Mario Bros DS, and I've loved it ever since, forever my favourite game. This series will always hold a special place in my heart... 😢

I don't care what anyone says, the entire NSMB series is great and NSMBU (especially with NSLU) is one of the best 2D Mario games alongside SMB3 and SMW.

These games, mainly the first two, were my damn childhood, I'm feeling nostalgic just remembering having ideas for the power ups, being like Mario, wishing I could make games like these. Good times.
Oh and the multiplayer of the first two games are the best ever, fun screwing each other over lol
This series may not have been that interesting, but it's still one that I will hold dear as a part of my childhood.
But it was time for the series to move on, and I couldn't be more stoked to see what Mario Wonder brings to the table.
I actually think these games are pretty cool, the game design is quite astounding.

NSMB DS is still one of my favourite Mario games. I'm not old enough to have played many classics or rich enough to have owned many of the Nintendo consoles, but DS holds a special place in my heart.

Out of all the NSMBs, DS is my favorite with Wii U coming close (even tho i barely played it). Wii and 3DS can take a walk, though...

I truly believe that NSMB was a step back from SMW 1 and 2. And even though they added cooperative multiplayer, it was super clumsy. The only unmitigated plus was the boss fights.
3D World did multiplayer much better

NSMBU also has similar world map puzzles to Wii, like the red and blue switches in Rock-Candy Mines
NSMB was my childhood. won the first game in a contest, got the 2nd game for christmas and then bought the switch port of the wiiU game more recently, so sad my childhood's ending, as a lot of my childhood games have closed down, shut off servers or otherwise ended, and with Martinez retired, it's bitter swett, but super happy that Mario and nintendo as a whole (And their subordinates) are trying something new. with Open world Pokemon games, Truly new Mario games, and Mario kart trying new ideas with ever entry, it's so cool to see how far Nintendo has come.
the original new super maro bros will always be my favourite nsmb game (and not just because it was the first, so they could use original ideas), and probably even my favourite 2d mario game. it'll never go stale in my eyes
I feel like the big thing that made the games too samey was the reused/remade soundtrack with every entry. It was most apparent when going from NSMB Wii to NSMB 2. The bosses, koopalings or not, were also very underwhelming compared to other 2D platformers.
I had a fun time with the series, but I'm also glad to finally see a new direction for 2D Mario.

I’ve had fond memories of the New Super Mario Bros. Series for many years! I might one of the few who actually loved NSMB2! But as much as I will miss this era, I am also agreeing to myself that yeah! I do love the new new era Mario is taking shape with starting with Wonder!
You're not alone because I also love New Super Mario Bros 2 and I think it's the best 2D Mario game made (I have no opinion on Super Mario Bros Wonder since I never played it)
having the luigi dlc as a stand alone makes it take up more space on your shelf so i prefere the packed in version.
the original nsmb was my introduction to mario. i played it on my friend's ds at daycare and couldn't get past 1-2. got my own ds for christmas and beat it in a couple weeks. still love mario to this day!

the bah mechanic could be useful in sme very specific edge cases. Like you are about to get hit by a goomba, then a bah plays, allowing you to jump out of the way/

I grew up with this franchise and I’ve hundred percented each game multiple times, I still have fun going back to it every now and then. In order my favorites are:
1: New Super Mario Bros. Wii
2: New Super Mario Bros. DS
3: New Super Mario Bros. U
4: New Super Luigi U
5: New Super Mario Bros. 2

I'll always love this series, although i am looking forward to super mario wonder in a couple weeks. We haven't had a new and official 2d game for a whole decade now (although i did play newer super mario bros wii to pass the time, and its a banger) i'm really glad wonder is different and will be a fresh experience, but i hope it still has some of that charm that these games have.
NSMB (DS) was the best game back when i was a babey

I play New Super Mario Bros DS when I was a kid on my Black DS Lite. I played it alongside Pokémon Platinum, Nintendogs, Sonic Rush, Power Rangers SPD (Gameboy Advance) etc. I even had a R4 Card. Good times.

Super Mario World on the SNES is still my very favorite 2D Mario game. The first WII one was incredible as well though and I absolutely loved it. Even liked WiiU and LuigiU but didn't feel as magical. I'd buy a Switch remaster of the Wii and DS versions without hesitation.

I'm gonna miss the NSMB series as well, but good things can't last forever. Either way, buying (mainline) Mario games have been a tradition for me and my family, so I can't wait for Super Mario Bros Wonder.

I'm quite sad to see my childhood series come to a close. I have so many great memories with all the games, and I'm thankful that it was around since I was 6 years old. I can't wait for SMB Wonder and the games that follow.

Even though the games were getting repetitive , it has a certain charm that I can't put my finger on, maybe it was the simple gameplay, graphics , music , power ups , all those times we played multi-player with our family and friends, even though I love wonder, I can give new soup , the respect it deserves, so long new super Mario bros
Everyone always says they got tired of it because there was "too many" of them. But, I don't like to think of it as 4 games, I think of it as 2 and 2. Since NSMB2 is called "2" despite being the 3rd game, cause it's a sequel to DS, and NSMBU is a sequel to NSMBW so I don't really think it's repetitive. I think they just wanted to make a version for the new console, and they both counted as the second game, but made a 3DS and Wii U version since most games did that. Especially since they released just a couple months apart.
I really am going to miss the New Super Mario Bros Games. The first one i played was NSMB2, then i played NSMBDS, and NSMBWii. Such nostalgic games to me, also, NSMBU was a grand game, but got boring easily, less nostalgic in my opinion, also they used NSMBU to make Super Mario Run. I am really hyped for Wonder, i cant wait to see what the game is like.
Wonder is Like NSMB Switch same base gameplay but with new abilities and levels
New super Mario bros wii was my favorite, i have fond memories of playing with my family, one the few games we would play with each other. (other being Mario kart wii, and just dance games) But the thing i remember most about NSMB, my sister lost the game but she blamed me.. but then a few months ago, She found it. I did not lose it. The game was fun to play, though.
