Succession | Shiv Drops A Bombshell During The Pierce Family Dinner | HBO Max - Zábava
" Roman, what's happening?! "
" My life just ended "
🤣🤣🤣🤣
the fact that the most educated guy at the table is asking Roman of all people what's happening is hilarious.
You have to love how Nan Pierce sees a tear between Logan and Marcia and they she proceeds to start ripping away at it. Shiv's timing could not be any worse.
I love the way she lays her head on her hand the second she discovers it as she realizes exactly what she can do with it.
The second hand embarrassment from all the awkward moments in this series (especially this scene) is unmatched...sheesh, I just wanna reach through the screen and put my hand over everyone's mouth
You should see Peep Show. Jesse Armstrong's first show. Now that is second hand embarassment. This is Diet Coke compared to it.
@@1987Liono very much so lmao
its stressful to even watch it on tv cant imagine what it would be like to experience that in reality while sitting at the table.
Lool
@@red2977 This might come as a bit of a chock to you, but it's actually fiction.
This is exactly why Shiv was never going to be picked.
Complete lack of experience and situational awareness
correct and ppl still try to defend all her actions.. I liked her better when she was in politics at least she was doing something she actually enjoyed doing.. once Logan dangled the power over her head she lost it everything
The worst part is Logan never wanted to give the company to Shiv. He just couldn’t handle having her work for his enemy right after Kendall screwed him over. He dangled the carrot in Shivs face long enough to quit and then didn’t have anything to do with her after.
I believe in his gut he knows they don’t hold up. I also believe he understands how all of his children’s shortfalls is a reflection of him failing as a father no matter how much success he’s had as a businessman.
Logan gave all of them a chance to prove themselves. They all failed.
@@jerry85g7 Exacty. Maybe he never intended to hold to his word, but he did give Shiv a plan and a timeline and she rejected it, she rejected the training. She proved to him that she wasn't serious.
Heavily heavily implied he said the same to Roman, the audience just didn’t see that one and only saw the scene with Shiv. So the whole time he was playing them both off each other.
@@xanthelinhs2143maybe bc shiv or neither of the kids truly want to be CEO? They just want daddy’s love in truth
This shot 2:15 is so different then the rest of the camera work on the show. A steady travelling in. No shaky guerrilla style camera. It emphatizes Shiv emotional state in that moment. Like if she is attracting us towards her before explode.
Perfect shot
Great observation
Stuck out to me too. Kinda makes me wish the rest of the show was filmed in a more traditional, controlled style, or at least curious about what that would look like.
Yooo that always stood out to me too, great catch
The filmmakers have a lot of steady shots like that throughout the series. Many of the steady shots are there to convey the seriousness of a situation, while other steady shots, like this one, makes the viewers focus even more and tries to prepare them for what's about to happen.
The moment Logan takes out his anger at Marcia was brilliantly-executed my god this show
I thought it was the least believable moment in this scene. He had just gotten through, not long before, telling everyone to play it cool. I was surprised he reacted that way.
1:17, the past and future CEO. Like that subtle imagery
Great catch, damn.
“she doesn’t like to talk about it”
her: anyways, SO
Masterclass in building tension. What a show
This scene is so bone-chilling. I mean I had full-body cringe. I was feeling the fear that shiv must've felt when she realises she now has to face Logan.
Kendall was the only one that kept this dinner together
Ken was the unsung hero of this episode
"WILL YOU STOP!" Shiv was shaken AF @ 4:31 . That's the posture a young child does when they are waiting for punishment.
This dinner scene was intense.
I love how Logan specifically waits for everyone else to leave him and Shiv in the room only for him to walk out.
She announced herself and embarrassed her dad so that he would have to be straight with her and take his own offer seriously. But Logan recognised what she was trying to do and punished her for it. Ice cold.
2:36 Brian Cox face LOL. This whole series is an acting masterclass
Absolutely agree with you!!
LMAAAAO HE'S FLABBERGASTED
@@VAJ-fb4vqCompletely befuddled
@@andrewmeyer4124shiv was given a lifeline and she threw it away. Dropping the ball is an understatement.
Shiv was the meanest of all and that is a fact.
Godfather taught us , you should never tell anyone , particularly outsiders what you are thinking , and shiv just let the cat outside of the bag ..............
I love show when the characters are in high position of power and you get the see the psychological chess game. That lady new she was going to rattle the cage. Hell of a power play
I was rooting for shiv from the start until this point, the downfall was unbelievable
It showed how unprepared she was.
She had no acumen, no subtly, and certainly no patience. She was too reckless and brash and that's why she lost.
@@frankieseward8667This is one of her main and saddest issues. No patience. She’s been cut out and excluded for so long that the second it seems she has a chance, she can’t wait for it or plan things out long term she just rushes in headfirst.
@@angelbotagi and it's why Tom won. He played the long game and came out on top. He had the right qualities to succeed .
Were you still rooting for her when she put Nates hand inside her pants while she was engaged to tom?
Scenes like this are what movies used to do but just have lost the ability to do so. Talk about sustained tension...My God!!!!
Some movies do! Like Parasite
@@weirdisspeltweird Parasite’s overrated. I prefer The White Tiger. A great Korean film about class is The Handmaiden though.
@@timbuktu777 just watched the white tiger! Also very good. Ill have to check out the other movie you mentioned
The last movie that did something like with some sucess was Knives Out
@@TheWrestlingful Knives Out was amazing you're shitposting
This dinner scene was absolutely perfect, remarkable and an absolute joy to watch as the meltdown unfolded. I mean the filming, acting, music and editing was superb but the real champs are the writers who did such a phenomenal job with the script. I have not seen such a well written show since Breaking Bad and Ozark! Such excellent story telling!!
ozark no
@@bncbcbbc31 ozark is good
Ozark? LOL
My favorite foods are lobster and skittles
Ozark? No lol. BCS, The Wire, Sopranos, GOT
The entire Roy Pierce dinner scene was the hardest scene to watch from the show. I was literally ready to throw up lol
I'm glad i wasn't there "WHEW"
I have difficulty in choosing this Dinner Party vs the Office Dinner Party 😂
Absolutely right.....
This one is funnier
And then Boar on The Floor scene is The Red Wedding of the show
How tf this was so intense without any music. 🤯
...there is music....
Exactly because there was no music. The silence is the most unnerving thing in a stressful situation.
bc ur little Brian cant comprehend actual scenes w out music
I loved that Shiv got put in her place in this episode. She has to understand that Logan only made her the C.E.O. offer to get her away from his political enemy.
Kendall’s face at 2:38. Fantastic acting
Every character could be a villian.
This is actually where Shiv lost it. No subtlety.
1:17 This shot here had to have been deliberate considering how the series ended.
yes, I was just thinking that!!!
It's different seeing Logan around someone that he detests but also envies and someone that he needs to butter up in order to get what he wants.
I had a knot in my stomach watching this the same as when I first saw it.
Shiv Roy time of death 2:35.
The acting/character development on this show is truly unbelievable. It deserves all the praise and more.
The Spanish saying “The Fish dies from the mouth” is very fitting for Shiv
The way Logan looked at her I said to myself "Dam Shiv WTF " 🤦
Por la boca muere el pez 🐟🤣🤣🤣
You know that you messed up. When Connor give that look 😂
i cannot believe shiv was stupid enough to do this!!! any person could see this was a bad decision
Shiv what were you thinking. Stupid you blew it girlfriend
i think she had enough of waiting on false promises
Its sad because despite how smart and strategic she is situations like this still happen because its so easy for her to hit her breaking point
@@angelbotagishe had no chill no long term planning. Her downfall was her own inexperience and lack of skills.
All the above, but also she genuinely thought that her being the face of the company would smooth over tensions with left-leaning power players like Nan Pierce. It was her taking a gamble that she misjudged as a good strategic move.
3:04 Tom looking like he may have just wasted so much time and energy marrying shiv lmao
He realised that the moment she said she wanted an open marriage on their wedding night lol
Every episode a huge event happens. There are no slow parts to this series ever, all while having no crazy action. Amazing how with such a words heavy show, it is easily the most entertaining one out there as well
Now listen up friends, this is called excellent acting, and it doesn’t get much better than this.
That was the most Roy thing I’ve ever seen!
One of the best scenes of the show
What a majestic scene, wonderfully written, acted..
I can feel every bit of the tension in that room.
I don't think I breathed much during this scene 😂
Frank's face at 2:43 lmaoooooooooooo
One of best scenes in Succession! The whole show is just PIECE OF ART!!👌
couldn't believe they did that when i first watched this
reminds me of scenes from The Godfather I and II when Sonny and Fredo would talk out of place
Man I was writhing on my couch during this scene it was so cringe. Painfully awkward for me just watching. GOAT show.
Well placed probes by Nan led to an epic meltdown by the Roy family no one at the table saw coming. Point Pierce.
She was masterful in her performance.
11 taps on the glass as Shiv stands there in shame waiting on her lashing. Lol.
This scene was more intense than war movies
I mean the pierces definitely wanted to poke at them but the Roy’s are so un polished can’t keep their problems behind the door it really made that even more awkward then should be 😅
I needed a Tums after watching this scene
Are you kidding I need to go to the nearest liquor store
I just don't understand why Shiv would have made that announcement. For whatever reason, Logan is clearly playing it close to the chest. Why would she undermine him?
Cause the bit*h only thinks about herself and she felt like she wasn't seen as a real player in the game. Which she 100% isn't, she should stick to politics...
Because, as the finale again proved, she is by far the worst of all the children.
Because at this time in the show, she had a good work opportunity working for an opposing politician (which would have embarrassed Logan), so Logan offered her the keys to the realm to keep her from working for this guy. She got tired of the empty promises, so she felt it was a power move to get it out there, so now he’d have the pressure to make it real. But she miscalculated. It’s Logan we are talking about. He doesn’t care to make good on things he says. He only cares to come on top. He wasn’t planning to ever do it, even if she didn’t embarrass him during the dinner. It was never going to happen.
@@simplyrowenshe might've had a chance before this point if she played her cards right
This was Nan’s version of Boar in the Floor. She traps them all in a room and, while less overtly aggressive, aggressively extracts their secrets
She’s masterful in the way that she controls all the pieces on the board. Worthy opponent.
2:03 "There is a name" I believe he meant Shiv. If only she kept her mouth shut...
I don't think there was ever really a name. I think Logan would rather destroy his own company than give it to one of his children.

Absolutely.
An inner beast came out of him for a second
This show is such a masterpiece
What is it with every dinner scene in television being hard to watch
A sincere 'screw you' to whoever decided to not release season 2 on blu ray.
This scene is sooo goood
how do they shoot the scene like this? so many casts, tension, eye contacts, man..... i just wanna know... how they do....
Pretty much the whole cast has professional theatre experience, I imagine that helps
Shiv is not as smart as she thinks she is
Exactly, she reminds me of Cersei from ASOIAF in that way. Only more unlikable/detestable the more you watch them

Logan looks like he wanted to climb in that glass of water @ 3:30. 😅
Mark is the Pierce’s Connor
I was Tom during this entire scene 3:03
Rewatching Succession, Rhea would have a great job as CEO… Logan had a bussiness vision even if he was a terrible person. None of them kids were prepared
Shiv why did she have to interject her response 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
I never got through many episodes - probably because the acting, etc is so good - it made my skin crawl. I was left wanting nothing to do with this kind of existence. I couldn’t get the attraction. Life is just too short. Can’t even finish this…
I can only imagine what the actors’ reactions were when they read the script for this scene.
Hey isn't that lady with Logan the one in Blade Runner 2049 as the one who told K to kill Deckard?
yup
Fun fact: Logan actor (Brian Cox) would later go on to voice Wallace Senior (Jared Leto's characters dad) in the animated show Blade Runner: Black Lotus
@@lucasharding5336 Woah!!! Nice!!
Even more than this scene, is the scene with Shiv and Tom in their room...just hilarious. And yes, I agree with all of you - the cringe factor is off the charts!
Man so Mark is just Mr. Kettleman reincarnated huh.
WOW ! I'm so glad I'm not a part of this gee whiz 😳
Shiv is just completely oblivious. Always blurting stupid jokes at the worst times, then she pulls this off. Man oh man if she kept her mouth shut who knows how far she would’ve gotten leveraging pierce
Oh no
Sadly I found this continuity mistake: when Logan mentions Gerri is on the papers her glass is almost full of wine and when she answers her glass is almost empty.
I mean I would’ve downed my drink to mask the awkwardness of this moment. Cause 😬😬😬
I call the siblings the 3 stooges they always blow it.
Logan really shot himself in the foot when he ditched Marcia for Kerry. Kerry is a colossal downgrade. But a person like Logan could never tolerate a partner who is remotely at the same standing as he is. He prefers them agreeable and stupid.
Thank you! I didn't know if I was the only one that felt that way. Every time when she's in a scene I don't want to look at her it's like ughh lol
A what kinda pillage is Rhea referring to at 1:17 ?
Potemkin
Potemkin village
She’s saying Potempkin Pillage, Potempkin meaning having a false or deceptive appearance, especially one presented for the purpose of propaganda. Pillage meaning to rob a (place) using violence, especially in wartime. So what Rhea is saying to Nan sarcastically (I think) is that the acquisition that Logan is dealing with is fake or not really happening. That's why Shiv reacted the way she did after Rhea says it.
I know this is kind of the point of the show, but what the f**k is Logan's problem with not naming a successor? His death isn't hypothetical, its a fact, its perfectly reasonable for people to expect a successor, yet he acts like hes being threatened every time its brought up.
The successor to his empire is a big choice. He wants to make it count. That restaurant scene during his birthday makes his fear very clear.
I know for a fact that Kendall is going to rip the company out of everyone's hands ✌️. After season 2, we know he is the one with the guts. The other siblings miss the bigger picture.
Me too! It’s always going to be Kendall! His dad is just making him 100% a calculated & confident CEO. Season 1 Kendall seems a little half baked to take over the company
This doesn’t age well…
All Logan children are damaged

Not sure this was ALL improv.

Never, ever tell a female a secret you actually want kept. Not even your female relatives. You'd think a worldly man like Logan would have known that. Oh, yeah...and you never, ever put a female in charge of anything of importance. Take notes, gents.
You totally missed the point of this show. Logan was put in charge of his kids, failed them, and thus lost the company to outsiders.
