Roman and Shiv thought that Matsson would be content with the name and they would control everything else, but Matsson had the goods, so he was not looking to be acquired and Waystar did not have the position. After looking at this yet again, look at the seating: to Logan's immediate right --- Tom; to his immediate left--- Shiv and Gerri; a few seats down from Tom --- Roman; via video ---- Frank and Karl. The end game of those in the room: Tom, Shiv (wife) and Gerri survive the acquisition in some form. Frank, Karl, Roman are out. Kerry, probably dismissed. Logan, deceased.

I always love it when these odd little subplots in shows come crashing headfirst into the main storyline. Never would have thought this is how Logan, Shiv, etc. learned about Roman and Gerri (or that they would learn about it at all), but fuck me, it was beyond perfect.

Sometimes I feel this show ended too soon, but the writing is so densely packed with great lines and figures-of-speech, there's more than enough to savor on on every rewatch. "I can win any bout with a boxer but I don't know how to knock out a clown."
I think Tom is so smart and handsome in this scene and I think he would be a good boss I would love to work for smart and handsome Tom even just reading his emails or stapling papers or something I just think he is strong. And he looks like the boss in this scene.
what I've noticed in every meeting that shiv's been in is that, shiv never adds anything different or unique to the conversation, she's always repeating the most obvious statements that could be said, and she says it with such so much confidence that you almost won't notice it, which makes it easy for her to keep her presence in a meeting without suffering risk. But once you notice it, you can immediately see how incompetent she is. I think the best example of this was the meeting at the panic room when the deal with Rhea began, I couldn't help but cringe at the pathetic and uninteresting arguments she was throwing out, same applies for the president picking part. Roman and Kendall atleast does bring some genuinely new ideas to the conversation at times, regardless whether htey're bad or good.
I remember her conversation with Rhea in the panic room being a huge part of them getting the meeting with pierce. The huge pile of money Logan was offering being the other part.
the more funny knowing logan's "you are not serious people" burn in season 4 said with the context of asking the question in season 3 re: "is mattson a serious person"
