Today is an ambitious day, as I decided to check out AM by Arctic Monkeys. I decided to do a "you complain, you give money to charity" type of deal, and needless to say it was not easy. Like the album or not, you gotta admit the AM album cover is genius.

The 'wave thingy' is relevant, as the album is quite bass heavy.
It looks like boobs which suits the tone

I really don't know how "I want it all" made place on AM, and "stop the world i wanna get off with you" didn't...
Genuinely forgot it was even on the album must just subconsciously skip it whenever it comes on

i feel like its because stop the world has some eerely similar sounds to other songs from the album, theres a melody that is exactly the same as one in arabella and its distracting as fuck xd

mad sounds is so bland and inexpressive that it makes me mad that its not doing anything wrong by not doing anything in general

I want it all is so filler it hurts my soul. After arabella, lots of songs fall flat on the samey side, but the last third of the album is actually good though

I don’t think that’s the case a lot of fans hate it because it’s boring, bland and generic. Not everyone who listens to arctic monkeys is a hipster who doesn’t like anything popular. It’s just not a good album.

I love this. This is the first time I'm commenting, but holy shit. The editing style. The jokes, the attitude, and the fact that I can tell you enjoyed this one. Definitely my favorite video from Brad.

Surprisingly this is my favorite Arctic Monkeys album. I think it's absolutely bada**. The tongue in cheek lyrics work extremely well and I'm a fan of Alex's pomade persona. I find it pretty consistent and it's just a great listen start to finish. The success this album had didn't give the band justice and I know a lot of fans love to shred open this album but apart of me just adores that melancholic midnight vibe. Perfect album for night driving as well.
This was the first album my boyfriend and I listened to together and no one else in our friend group liked it but we had it on disk in my truck and we would go on long night drives and park in the country and look at the starts and smoke a little green together it brings such beautiful midnight memories for me 💕

I will never understand how AM is so much more popular than their first album.
Its only more popular online cause it came out 7 years later. But their first album sold more records.

you're not alone, it gives me a nostalgic romantic prom dance vibe, and I'm 100% there for it and it was really funny how much I was vibing to it while he just bashed the ever-living shit out of it

Tonnes of people like it, it's a quality song. I also love I Wanna Be Yours. Brad (and a lot of people), just seem to have this perception where slow-paced = bad or 'bland'. If you watch Brad's expressions across the different AM albums, he only get's excited when it's a fast-paced, heavy guitar, multi-layered song. For instance, he hated 'One ones Who Know' on FWN as well, and said it's like falling asleep. Only exception to this is TH&TBC, which tbf might be slow-paced but definitely is still multi-layered and quite unique. Music is subjective at the end of the day!

no.1 party anthem is my favourite Arctic Monkeys track of all time, and yet seeing Brad break it down didn't change my view on it, it just let me see how its viewed from other perspectives. I appreciate Brad's opinion and I know he appreciates that of Monkeys' fans too, and its refreshing to see a new take on a 7 year-old album thats been beaten to death by weird e-girls and strange tryhard edgy kids. This album still holds a special place in my heart, but it's so refreshing to see someone give their unfiltered opinion on it. Love you Brad xo

Some patterns I'm seeing is that basically Brad doesn't WANT to listen or pay attention to slow songs about love, relationships or anything related to that matter. Especially if it's alex turner singing.
If the lyrics resemble even a little of love in general and the song has a more calm nature, he just turns his brain off and starts complaining. Too bad cause that's basically everything that Alex has written till tbhc.
I personally love and yeah, can easily relate to the stories that he tells on these albums. Still love to watch the reactions tho

i actually disagree, if you see other reviews he made he actually likes some songs like that. The main problem is actually alex turner lyrics and the corny stuff he does. AM was fine till Humbug, after that suck it and see was too plain, AM was a desperate attempt to get a US fanbase. If you want to see more of the alex turner problem, check his 1st album as the last shadow puppets and then listen to his second album where he F** up again.
Oh you are right. If he ever reacts to suck it and see and does the same thing with piledriver waltz, of one their best songs, I'll be fuming...yes it's a slow song, but what about the emotions and the lyrics?

He knows this and credits the debut album for properly being paced. The difference with these slow songs and slower songs in their earlier discography is that the instrumentals were creative and good backed by solid lyrics

The best way to describe AM is painstakingly polished, and extremely compressed.

I’m glad brad finally realized one of the main problems i have with his reactions, that the point often like misses him and he just does not like process anything that happens and kinda like takes it at face value. of course this album isn’t like the fucking wall or anything but it gets a lil annoying seeing any pieces of subtlety or musical ideas just get like ignored and watered down in his mind . (especially with the #1 party anthem bit where he just called it another mid album slow song and completely ignored the lyrics and didn’t take the time to actually listen to it as it’s own song until about halfway through.) Still love the man but he definitely has room to grow.

I always thought it was just me being too tired, but there’s some albums where you finish the songs, immediately forget them, and still have the ability to listen to every song for the first time over and over again.
