Mystery flight: UK's most underrated Airport to Guernsey 🇬🇧 ➡ 🇬🇬

- Thanks to a bit of code sharing (aka price fixing!) from Blue Islands, Aurigny and Loganair, I had no idea which airline I was taking from the small but convenient Southampton Airport back home to Guernsey after a fun weekend in my university city. So I decided to vlog it!
Also featuring the ridiculous convenience of Southampton Airport Parkway relative to said airport, a closed airport lounge (boo), my most random meal deal of all time, and beautiful views of England's south coast from my window seat.
Always nice to have a little peek and a report inside the local airport i so often planespot at!
Great airport for it!
Nice video Nice Aircraft ATR
Love an ATR, spotted a couple last week coming in to London city
Before COVID hit and flybe went bust, I used to fly from Southampton to Brest-Bretagne every year to see my family in France, it's an airport that I really like, because it's so small and easy to get through and I have such fond memories of looking out at the runway watching planes whilst waiting for my flight, looking forward to see my family, and enjoy the beautiful beach.
Hope they reinstate that route for you soon
@@helloantoniotraveladventuresI hope so, last year I took the new Flybe from Birmingham, but now you can't fly to Brest from anywhere in the UK and I don't really like Birmingham airport - it's so dark and dingy and the buildings just aren't very pleasant to be in
Shame, I hope you get a direct route soon !
Grief! It's less than an hour from Southampton to Guernsey... You really aren't going to starve!
Grief indeed!
That pilot reminds me of when I flew from Madrid to London with Iberia a few years ago when they operated the a340 on that route. I heard him talking for ages in Spanish and then he went on for ages in English too detailing every little bit of the route and even telling us how much fuel we had onboard. I love it when they go into detail. Unfortunately it did mean that I missed the last 10 mins of the film I was watching on the seatback entertainment.
Love flying from Southampton as its so much easier than the big London airports. So glad Easy Jet are starting a few more flights from there now.
😂 I love a pilot with character! Wish easyjet could come to Guernsey...
Class video, glad this was suggested. I miss the FlyBe days at Southampton.
Glad you enjoyed it! I enjoyed a few FlyBe flights from Southampton back in the day!
Flybe were awful!! Hopefully easyJet make themselves at home and start offering flights to Greece etc 🤞
That would be ideal
Great plug for Southampton Airport, very convenient indeed. Sounds like you had a good time in Southampton even though it wasn't exactly a culinary weekend. 😅
Haha i realised that I had two meals my entire time there, and one of those was this dodgy airport meal deal!
I'll be doing the opposite trip in June 2023 (Guernsey to Southampton). Then I'll be trying to get to Portsmouth. I think it'll be relatively easy, especially if the train station is right next to the airport! Though it'll all be strange since I'll be coming from Canada (other side of the road and all that).
Yes should be easy to get to Portsmouth but you'll need to change trains at Southampton Central or Eastleigh

as its my local airport,i think its a very nice regional airport and good for planespotting!!!!!
💯
Trouble is it's simply too expensive to fly it. Most of the time for 2 passengers from Southampton booked well in advance is around £475. Its scandalous. Blue Islands are now charging £142 just to fly between Guernsey and Jersey!
It's crazy! £142 between Guernsey and Jersey!? Daylight robbery, I'd expect a lie flat bed!
@@helloantoniotraveladventures Me too ! I live in Norfolk, and blue islands want £ 675 for 2 from Norwich. You could almost go to the Caribbean for that !
You really could! Wish there was more competition
@@helloantoniotraveladventures It's exactly the same on the isle of wight Ferry routes £175 to take a car plus 2 people from Portsmouth to Fishbourne. A distance of about 8 miles.
Flipping heck I didn't realise it was that expensive to get to the isle of wight!
Okay
Okay
Southampton Airport is convenient for the railway station - YES. Other than that, it has almost nothing to recommend it. Parking charges are extortionate, even for drop off. The security staff have convinced themselves that they are on the front line in the battle against international terrorism, and treat elderly ladies on SAGA trip to the Channel Islands as if they were ISIS Brides. The last time I used the airport was to fly to Glasgow, and the experience was so grim that subsequent journeys have been made by coach and rail.
😂 Saga trip as isis brides, love it !
They treat everyone like a terrorist at every airport, that's just the way flying is
Brilliant!!!😊😊
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Where can I get an uber from the Southampton airport parkway
Other side of the station from the airport
Nice video, bless you. However, Southampton airport is pointless. The runway and airfield bay are way too small. Even now with the expansion still way too small. Bournemouth Airport will be the future on the south coast with major progression. Funny how things change within just a couple of years. If it's not British owned then it's never going to survive but it will always be up for sale.
😂 bless me, cheers. Bournemouth has potential but isn't well connected with public transport
Is there any service onboard the plane?
Good question! No
Do you like living in Guernsey?
Yes, i love it!
Runway probably too short for Ryanair Boeing 737s at Southampton
Think you're right there... Strangely enough, the more time I spend in Guernsey, the more I appreciate not being overrun with loads of flights
Ryanair have already said they would probably not be interested in Southampton (even after the runway extension is completed).
Bournemouth is cheap and Southampton would be more expensive.u
Southampton should adapt their prices, then!
@@helloantoniotraveladventures Don't tell me, inform AGS airports Ltd, perhaps you have more experience on how to operate an aviation business.
Fair point !
*promo sm* 😪
Sorry?
