Great video Brian and yes I do have a Google Pixel phone and up to now have had very annoying processes to follow - almost like doing a triple backflip in the piked position - to get photos from the phone into my computers. This is going to simply that transfer and make my life a great deal easier👍👍
DID NOT work on my Android Samsung Note!! There is NO “copy to” in the drop down box!!!! Video WAY too long and an advertisement for a 30 second video? Pffffft
This is especially useful for those whom don't have any other forms of backup or just looking for something simple. For me I utilize a large micro SD card in the phone, likewise similar method is used with my PC'S. I have separate storage drives built in to keep my resources low on main drive. I now have a NAS to which I am trying to learn to use properly. This way should something happen I will have at least a way to recover. I guess you can't have too much storage, better than none at all.
bought myself a couple of usbc to usb adapters - best purchase ever!! (long story short: got a laptop that functions on usbc only and had an 'erm... how do I...?' moment) now I back up on the fly to anything that's handy. best £4 ever spent (twice - because of other devices). it means all usb devices work with what I have. including a midi usb keyboard which now works well with what I have.
Brilliant Brian thank you for this, I do automatically up load mine via ftp when the phone connect, s to my network, but stil a very handy thing to know 👌
Hi Brian great video easy to follow .Bar for everything on my Galaxy was in different places .other than having to find them the rest was plane sailing .Content and portrayal was great. many thanks Gerald
This method would also be after than transferring files over the network in most cases. I got one of the Sandisk drives and its not to bad. Thanks for the video
Very timely, Brian. Just tried to copy photos from my Samsung A22 to a flash drive. Thanks to this video, was able to complete the task. Also, thanks for that link to a legimate seller of Windows keys. Have upgraded an old laptop and the repairer was not able to activate the install of W10...
Is there a one stop shop app to copy all pics to an external drive, remove duplicates, sort them into their date taken? I need this for a family member lol.
@@ScarfaceLittlebee-mj2ch I now use Syncback Pro from 2 bright sparks for all my backups. As for duplicate cleaner, I used a program from the Windows store. Hope that helps.
You can plug your android phone into your pc and do that directly with a linking software that will download itself. I haven't figured out how to do the SMS that way though. So, the photo or image in a text has to be saved to the phone before you can grab them this way. The folder is the DCIM on the Android. A good topic for another video.
Hi Brian. I have a question: I saw instructions on another video above removing the flash drive after the transfers of photos, etc. The advise was to go to settings and dismount the drive before manually removing the flash drive from the phone. The video was from a few years ago. I didn't see you go through this process so is this still advisable or is it an unnecessary step? Thank you.
What about if all your photos are in Google photos? I found out how to download my images from Google photos and followed your instructions. Very, very easy and I Thankyou very much for your help 👍
What about transferring TEXTS. I have a large amount of texts I want to save to SD card on my phone but I cannot find anyone saying how to do that. In fact, one fellow said in his video that texts CANNOT be transferred onto the SD card. Is this true?
My phone a galaxy note 10 does not show any of those settings. I bought the same type of flash drive u show here but no matter what I do, the flash drive isn't showing anywhere so I can move photos or anything else. I've watched numerous videos n every one shows the same settings which do not show wheni plug in my flash drive.
What we need is something to back up not only images but all files in both iOS and android phones without having to connect to a computer or having operating system incompatibility issues between phone and computer. Only thing I have seen is this possible with rooted androids or jailbroken apples. Not fair. On the go and need to have the ability to copy to a portable drive without issues. Need to copy .pdf's, Microsoft office files etc.
Am i able to use a usb c to usb a adapter to transfer my photos to flashdrive or do i need to purchase something more specific besides the usb c flashdrives youve shown in the video?
My pixel 4a did not ot see my thumb drive which was formatted xFat. Did you reply to a post that your's was formatted NTFS or exFat? You didnt specify and not sure which you were referring to. Thanks for all your work in sharing your knowledge.
Honestly this is a lot of manual copying over and over so I'd call it nonsense. Now if there were an app that could be opened which copies everything I set to copy (maybe a compilation of folders,) then I'd be impressed. People have 512 gb phones with 256gb of data which can get cumbersome if changes aren't being duplicated. Remember you're create a new backup every month or so.
I need to do the iphone version of this video. but then sometimes I can't see the photos and videos I brought over because they're in a different format or something.
@@LaVidaLocaHomie I mean, i may or may not be a snowflake for that, but trust me, putting an *iPhone* on a thumbnail of a video which is about *Android* is obviously a mistake

Are you serious? There's no operating system on a USB to infect. And if the usb is plugged into a pc with an operating system, it usually has an anti-virus built in.
Thank you for explaining all of the steps. I appreciate you taking the time to give a thorough explanation.

Bravo! Well done!
Thanks Brian. Works with USB's formatted with Fat32 but not with NTFS. (Haven't tried Exfat)
works fine, that is what my usb was formatted to
I found your video too long and wordy and felt you could have explained this effectively in half the time. Thanks though.
It depends on the person. I thought that the explanation was good and appreciated that your speech was clear and unhurried.
@britec09 what Pixel is being shown in this video? I'm considering the Pixel 8 Pro or the upcoming Samsung S24+ and sort of wavering between the two.
So all androids can be plugged into this device? What if it's not compatible to plug in?
Can't you use a cable to connect the phone to the flash drive?

This is why the sd card slot is missed badly

I just attach the photos to an email to my self and they are located on my computer in a back up drive. You really do not need the usb flash drive.

doubt it since they even won't let you access the files themselves

If the mobile device has Spyware, bots, etc, connecting a USB via adapter will likely infect the USB and any Bluetooth devices also.

just plug a cable in to the PC and phone job done copy over much faster

I normally just copy them to my PC using the app running on the PC, such as Total Commander.
