- Hello everyone,
Today Lawrie's having a look at the Ivy Railway, built into the side of a Welsh hill - a place that most people would never think to have a garden railway - but the owner wasn't deterred by location!
If you want to follow Ian's progress with the railway and his other modelling projects, check out his channel here: / @elvinley

It was great to have you visit the line and stay with us. You must do it again soon and get your coat back as well! Great video!
beautiful little place! If I ever get an appropriate garden, this will be the first thing that I do!
That is the cutest small rideable train I think I've ever seen. And I've been addicted to these kind of videos for a few weeks now and have seen hundreds this is top tier
@@sodomiziation Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it.
Takes garden railways to the next level. Ian has created a great little railway of Wales.
This is such an amazing little railway, so a lot of effort and love was put into making this and it shows
I had a feeling at some point that you would do a video on the Ivy Railway seeing that you have appeared in their videos
What a great little set up throughout, small woods with sun shine through the trees, hats off to the owner I absolutely love this little video. brilliant lawrie.
I love it it's like a real railway at the same time as being small
It's fantastic
This is like the smaller equivalent of the Driving Creek Railway here in New Zealand. That's a 15inch gauge line running up a mountain with five switchbacks and a double-decker viaduct. It was the brainchild of one man - the late Barry Brickell - and I highly recommend visiting the railway if you come to New Zealand again.
I've followed Ian and the Ivy for awhile now. It's both a model and yet real railway, well done!! Bravo!
Been following their channel for years now. What a great little project 🙂
Absolutely delightfully eccentric well done thankee yet again.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This looks like a gorgeous location to have a miniature railway, even if it’s not absolutely ideal!!
This railway is so cool! Thanks for posting lawrie ❤😁👍
I think I might have heard about this gorgeous little Railway before. It might well have been on You Tube!!
Amazing video, and really happy to hear the owner has a CZcams channel! I’ll check it out, love little yet useful railway’s and their kit. Way Out West is a favorite as well, amazing creative builder in Ireland who build his own railway from scratch that he actually uses for his farm and other projects. He even made an airpowered piston locomotive, unfortunately he needs a stronger compressor still. It does run! And does pull!
lovely!
Great little railway. Looks like a lot of fun, and a lot of work to dig it out
So much hard work
Been watching this railway develop for ages now. Great to finally see this video come out
Class! What an achievement! Really scenic little route too, i'm sure the neighbours love seeing it on it's runs!
Great video! Next year maybe get to the Aln Valley Miniature Railway for there grand opening. You might see me driving around in a Scamp.
Great railway. What a lot of digging has been done. The clearances remind me of the top half of the Ffestiniog railway.
This railway looks really nice!. Amazing video!
I really enjoyed this video - more miniature railway content please! :)
Love these railways 7 1/4 and little ones you've been doing I hope you get to drive the new engine at Statfold mate keep bringing these out hope you Romney or Lal ratty sometime too
Thanks Lawrie, quite a project, and close to the hill edge at times! 🙏🙏
i lol'd when i saw the speed controller! we have wide speed and MAD speed yet when i saw MAD speed my mind automatically heard it as "We have wide speed and we have Mutually Assured Destruction speed" because that thing doesnt look like its designed to go faster then 25 anything faster would be Mutually Assured Destruction to said loco, track or area!
I've been looking forward to this one :) Absolutely superb little railway.
A interesting and wobbly locomotive 😊👍
Sunshine in North Wales, impossible. If so please get your backside back here so we can more. But brilliant, a work of love you can tell.
Oh dear lord in heaven.
I do believe I've fallen in love with a private railway.
Now there is a little engine that not only could, but can. :)
Fantastic!
I've always been worried that locos on such a narrow gauge will topple over.
love it, amazing!
So presumably now Lawrie is attempting to convince his landlord that a similar setup is required to bring parts and supplies up the driveway to the shed.
Totally amazing. Excellent use of an otherwise useless piece of land...
How twee. I’d want to take a picnic out on it.
Mad
Is this a new refresh into music I like it
Hehe tiny locomotives on hillside.
That's something I'd love, have a house that's a solid distance away from the actual road, big shed for cars right on the road so you don't have to drive up a dirt path to your house all the time, space in car shed for a train so you don't even have to be outside to transfer from car to train, and then another small shed at your house and just take the train between your car and house every day! Why are houses built around driveways and not railways?
Lawrie should really go to Postojna cave in Slovenia and check out the narrow guage railway we have running inside the cave
could be a really interesting episode in ur "Lawrie goes a little loco series :)
That sounds great - I'd love to.
oh darn, you actually responded, thanks!
@@kremsnita446 if you are involved with the railway and want to make it happen, drop me an email
@@lmm well unfortunately i am not, the only way to reach out to them is probably their website, thanks for replying
"Snug" Guage!
Ivy is so cute and wonderful ! But i cant help to ask Where Can i buy a engine like ivy ?
phoenixlocos.com/products/model-locos/the-hefty/specification/
That'll get you to the right place!
Oh thank you so much lawrie !
I love trains
I don't think you said how long it was as a run?
It's about 80 metres but the run is doubled with the return loop. I now have a run round at the other end and a turntable as well.
What is happening with the scrapyard Ruston 48? I was at the whitwell and reepham yesterday and it’s just under a tarp with the wheels next to it, any ideas of when work will be done on it? If you can’t say I don’t mind. Great video, bye
How do you make or get the wheels?
hello lawrie, intrestingly, today i didnt watch it in the UK
im now in hong kong and about to go to its railway centre this month. btw, in any chances, can you do a video in asia?
