- In Transformers, Optimus Prime is the definitive leader of the Autobots and there have been tons of toy versions of the character made. Including Masterpiece versions. These two knockoffs are modeled from the popular MP10 Masterpiece version, though they are two different sizes. Captain Kyle examines them to see if they would fit into your collection.
Optimus Prime was the first Transformer to receive a Masterpiece edition, but the MP01 is not considered the best of them. The MP10 was much more popular due to its innovative design and accessories. These knockoff versions of the MP10, called MPP10 or XP10 by Weijiang and the KBBMP10V, are excellent toys with diecast parts and great accessories. Captain Kyle examines these Autobot leaders to see if the quality is worth it.

MP10V is still the best option for an Optimus for your Generations line up. The Earthrise is by far the best Optimus Hasbro has ever produced but MP10V is far superior, considering it's based on decade old MP engineering that cleans up fantastically while the Earthrise still has some kibbly bits.

These are old Oversized and undersized knockoffs. I was one who did adopted early, since it was too good value for the money. IMHO, the MPP10 on its own it the true master piece Optimus Prime toy. A hundred time way better paint apps, all issues fixed, lots of die-cast, I love the size more over the MP10 scales. Looks awesome displayed, especially if you got lucky and get the upgrade kits (way more articulated hands) that came out around this time. I have this displayed with the Wei Jiang Megatron that's the same scale as MPP10. I have the same opinion with MPP10V as the best voyager Prime G1 ever.
After so many years kbb mp 10 it still holds up. Still my go to optimus prime for chugs tf toys.

The oversized MP-10 KO lineage is weird... first there was WeiJiang's MPP10. Then there was a simplified KO of that called MMP10. Good plastic but many features cut down- solid hands, plastic wheels, leg panels fused in place, hand-held axe but added an LED light to the head. It also had a lot of recolors but the supply of anything other than the normal version is exhausted now. I would guess you have XP-10, a sort-of rebranded MMP10 that loses the LED light in the head but restores the separate index finger that MMP10 lacked. I own that one. Aside from the lack of knee ratchets it feels decent enough. It can't quite haul the MPP10 trailer, it does have the indents but they're sealed up inside. I wold guess taking the legs apart & cutting away at that inner plastic to deepen the slots would fix the issue.
But then there's a new one, the Aliexpress seller I bought it from called it "MPP10" but the box simply calls it "Commander". It's MMP10/XP-10 with the head painted better & rubber tires, yellow translucent plastic & the knee ratchets restored. It mostly feels better, though in both cases an actual Weijiang MPP10 is still easy to find for not much more money & it's far better than either of the simpler KOs- though I do prefer this simple folding rifle over the spring-loaded latching MP-10 or MPP10 rifle, as the spring gimmick was hard to lock in place.

@@michaelscholes8956 MPP10 is a larger MP-10 with no simplification & longer legs. Commander, like MMP10 & XP-10 has a few parts fused, cheaper plastic matrix that's a bit harder to get slotted in, cheap handheld axe & the front shin panels do not fold up for truck mode. Both lack any springs in the gun, it just folds up(an improvement, really). Joints may not be as sturdy. XP-10 has the bumper & matrix cover fused, Commander at least has them separate. Neither is bad for $50 but Commander is better than XP-10 for the same price.

You got storage for the gun, its the reason theres a hole in the back of Optimus and why the gun can fold itself.
Not transform MP01? It's the easiest and most fun to transform. The only bad thing is you have to twist the matrix chamber that is attached to only a screw that loves to eat the plastic. If you want there's longer smokestacks to buy for him worth a try if you can find them nowadays.
And no, let your official MP10 stay in his prison that's where he looks the best

No you don’t have to open it
Just realized the energy axe is with a traditional handle. I believe this is not the original Wei Jiang OS KO. It's someone else, and these batches got way more cheaper than the original WJ. They cut some corners on the design, but STILL a great option, since they didn't skimp out on the paint apps. Probably different factory, since the owners of Wei Jiang was caught by the CCP police and went to jail.

@@michaelscholes8956 I believe Chinese police were cracking down on KO companies, and Wei Jiang was the most popular KO company at the time.
I have the big XP-10. I love mine.
The mpp10 maybe a ko of the wei jiang as I got one when they first released and the energy axe replaced the hand and was correct colour, he the wheels had rubber tyres and mine did come with matrix and Daniel
I say keep MP-10 in the box, but I am an "in-box" collector, so I may be a little biased. 🤣
I bought my MPP10 a couple of years ago. My default Optimus Prime out of the many I have. He's amazing and heavy and yes, I also got the trailer which is enormous! Mine is slightly different from yours. The energy axe is orange, more like on the cartoon, the windows on his chest are clear and the colors on his "belt" are yellow not blue. He did come with a large diecast Matrix and a larger Spike figure which, of course, looks awful. Anyways, yours looks just as amazing, I do wish mine had the blue windows.

What he is reviewing looks like the XP-10, which has blue windshield (and blue plastic pelvic pieces instead of yellow) by default
0:49 I don't think that one you got there is the WeiJiang MPP10. What you read off sounds like a listing that has options to purchase, but the put all options in the title. I think you have the XP10.
[1] MPP10 is Wei Jiang's OSKO of MP10. In addition to OSing, the made some improvements (like longer legs so it looked more proportionate than the MP10 and its "gorilla arms" some complained about).
[2] MMP10 was a simplified version of the MMP10, but the same size. It sold for $50-$65 shipped at the time, compared to the $85-$110 the MPP10 was originally going for.
[3] XP10 was about the same quality as the MMP10, but the added back some of the functions/features taken out via MMP10's simplifications.
I think Wei Jiang was essentially shut down by the time XP10 came out (if memory serves right, they were in the midst of KOing an MCU hot toys ironman, and the Disney mouse got angered to the point of having action taken).

I think that sword MP-10V comes with is from AOE... A G1 Optimus with Age of Extinction Optimus' sword is so cursed.

Wei jang brought out and upgrade kit for MPP10 new hands a new gun and a new head with aa small battery so his eyes could light up I tries to buy the upgrade and they were sold out everywhere and I asked when will you have more in stock and all sellers replied saying no that's it no more available

Screw on the back of the head.
Get an MP10 KO (original scale) for dirt cheap, and sell your unbox one and get your money back or maybe more. Just being practical is what I'd say.
If you opened up MP10 , Lucy Lawless would be Shocked ! Maybe OP got the Matrix between 1986 and 2005 from Alpha Trion's old Lab.

I'm confused about the little one I got. Sold as an original , my wife bought it for me. Seems ligit, but I don't want to assemble it for fear. It could be real. Everything, even the box, reminds me of when I was a child in the early 80s getting one. So now I'm digging out my worn-out b usted up original for comparison. Did they bust out the old moulds?
Is it sealed? There have been many reissues of the original Optimus Prime, plus nowadays, you can get lots of counterfeits. If the box is pristine with a 1984 copyright, it's probably a counterfeit.
@ToySpotlite in a sense, with a piece of tape. But that's how I got toys in the 80's. I even compared it to mine, and just as cheap and less functional than what later generations got. The downfall of the counterfeit is that we didn't have ultra shiny cardboard. Also some last minute decals thrown in and not packed. But the recon buggy and parts are in the mould racks yet. I was afraid to put it together, but I think I will.
Will the second one scale well with ss86 ironhide
Well, I'm getting the Prowl and Ironhide set, so I'll bring in that Prime to see how they all scale together.

Not sure if that's a WJ MMP 10... it looks l Iike the knock of WJ's knock off. The WJ is good quality in terms of the plastic etc, also the WJ has a cover for the wheels on the legs, and the axe is the correct colour and attachtes to prime had like mp10s does. These ko of WJ are much lower in quality.

Just bought the MPP10, cool figure, but it did come with the matrix. You sure you don't have one on the box?
You also mistransformed him. You are supposed to open the stairs which are in the arm. See that empty part behind the wheels? It was supposed to be there.
The gun can fold to be hidden in the backpack, which is literally a backpack.
I don't want to sound rude, but did you really read the instructions?
Mine didn't come with a box. And the instructions were rather lacking. It's possible I just couldn't make out the step to open the stairs in the arm or I skimmed them so fast in making the video I didn't see that part. And it showed nothing about the backpack. But thanks for letting me know. I will adjust him. One of these days.
