Why do Furiosa's VFX look so fake?

    nice video, I agree. I believe another major reason for shooting in Australia is because George is Australian and that is what he always intended. Even with Fury Road Australia was the first choice but due to environmental factors (an apparently heavy storm that made the dunes very vibrant) they eventually had to shoot in Namibia. From my understanding.

    I loved this movie, but the CGI did stand out. And the reason it stood out is it was too 'clean' which made it all look filmed indoors under artificial lighting. I'd like to see them take it and run some color grading and post processing to wash out some of the color and up the exposure to dirty it up a bit so it is more in line with the 'look' of the previous films.

    Mad max furry road the whole movie was pretty much flim in the desert, so it had a more realistic feel

    I will say, the trailers did furiosa NO JUSTICE what so ever. Imo I have never seen such a bad trailer, felt like they just used the worst rough cuts and threw them onto the collage. I went into the theater expecting to get ready for the worst, and noticed almost none of that. The only time I ever noticed it looking "fake" was the scene where she was hanging off the hood. But it wasn't even that bad or for long.
    I read this on reddit and I think it also think it's a pretty good point. We have to remember that this is her flashbacks/retelling of the story and in that retelling it seems that she has a more "fantastical" and artistic view of her world, prior to the fury road era where everything is already even worse. We see what happened to "the green place"

    My theory is Furiosa was originally suppose to be an anime released around the same time as fury road. So stylistically it’s a live action trying to mimic animation. Also during that year in Australia we had La Niña so was very wet and green. I know because I was in Broken Hill l after they finished filming and the area around the mad max 2 museum was green. It wasn’t the red earth wasteland I was expecting to see.

    Even Fury Road had it's bad moments. What I found so jarring about Furiosa was that the VFX quality is SO inconsistent. There are some scenes that are absolutely perfect. Some wide shots were the background looks like they went for old school matte paintings, and then you have green screen work that looks like you accidentially ended up in someones Skype meeting. I initially thought they were intentionally going for an old school vibe with the VFX, but some of it was SO bad, I can only assume they ran out of time/money 🤷‍♂ (and there were a few bits where the fire/flame throwers looked so bad they could have been straight from a 2010 video game)

    I think the only bad effect was the guy in the back of the war rig, not sure if he couldn't film on the rig for safety reasons but the effect of his face in the hatch is awful every time we see it. Rest of the effects were great imo.

      There was one scene where the monster truck drives out of the colapsing bullet farm. Just watch it when it goes up the steep wall. ;-P

    Nice video. Furiosa is a good movie but, for me, far far away from Fury Road, which I consider a masterpiece. I think another difference, other than the vfx you said in the video, are the characters. Beside Dementus, there are no new “cool” character. Like Nux in Fury Road, amazing, or the wives. I think I missed some ambiguous figure, except the ones we already know. Sorry for my bad english, i’m Italian lol

      At some points, it feels more like a history lesson with some action sequences in between. For how long the movie is, a lot of it feels quite hectic.

      @@Orozco_PNW its tough cause some of the vfx shots do have bad lighting, but there are a lot of very gorgeous frams in the film imo. If you can see it in theaters, its definitely worth a watch (just dont expect fury road lol)

    George Miller is not in his 80s, as stated twice. He is still 79.

  • @fatherlucid4995
    @fatherlucid4995 Před 4 dny

    George miller was already old when made Fury Road. If he wants success he needs to make a more difficult film on location once again. The good news is Charlize Theron won’t be in The Wasteland so Hardy won’t have to work with her. If he decides to make The Wasteland he needs to go with compositing method of Fury Road rather than complete cg backgrounds.

      You do understand, that Fury road also had tons of fake bacgrounds, right? Most of the stunts in this film were done with the same composit shot method.

    Nicely done short video! I just saw the movie yesterday and liked it quite a lot. I even think that some comicly CGI was deliberate. Even if not. I had a really really good time and nachos with cheese sauce.

    I just started watching this and it looks so bad. The kids in the apple tree. Fake tree, fake apple, fake cliff. Looks like a better version of an old Star Trek (original) set. Then they show the women running out of the village to help. Most of them are fake, or green screened in. The last woman looks like she's skating across the dirt. Landscape perspectives are all janky (because they're fake). Oh man, it's so bad.

  • @sagelight7777
    @sagelight7777 Před 14 dny +8

    They wanted to film in Australia because it's set in Australia lol. You need to do more research.

    • @-Eternal-Damnation-
      @-Eternal-Damnation- Před 14 dny +2

      There is a lot more that goes into the decision-making than that. Just because it's set in Australia doesn't necessarily mean Australia is the best choice to film it.

    • @sagelight7777
      @sagelight7777 Před 14 dny +5

      @-Eternal-Damnation- lol no george miller actually stated it. The reasons for fury road being filmed elsewhere were financial and environmental. There are some very fake looking shots in fury road at the end of the film where the engine is pulled from the vehicle, it looks horrendous. Furiousa is going for an even harsher saturation look and has much larger set pieces requiring much more fully digital shots. I think it's a visually stunning film but the high contrast saturation does not help the obviously cgi shots. Both films are stunning and far more impressive than the usual Hollywood fare.

    Fury Road… ground breaking ? Revolutionary? First I heard of that. It already looked cartoony. Road Warrior (1981) was practical effects.
