The way he threw the ball with the blitz in his face was better than most veterans ever dream of
It was stunning. Move back , shift left. Step up right before the guy in his face closed and throws a strike
his ability to avoid serous contact is elite too. he gets the ball off and shrugs in a way that keeps him from harm from the rushing defenders contact.
His spatial awareness is just outstanding. That's something you can't measure, and it's something you can't draw up a reliable plan against.
Shanahan has got to feel like he's got an Xbox controller in his hands.
As a niner fan I feel spoiled we got Purdy every week so far. I know you can’t do everyone every week but I hope he stays on your radar this was awesome as usual
thankfully his Purdy videos continue to get good traffic so I Anticipate (capital A) that he’s going to continue doing them weekly
@@zeb_reynolds And it seems like JT genuinely enjoys watching and breaking down Purdy tape. Always 2-3 throws that gets him excited.
@@GalathNox
It's also just an awesome story, and don't forget that JT was on the Niners for a year and was also a late round pick.
@@zeb_reynoldsbecause 11 games into his career people are STILL mystified as to how good he is exactly.
Oh we are spoiled from owner willing to spend all the way down to the last pick of the draft. We need to truly appreciate these moments and really take them in. I do for damn sure.
On the Ronnie Bell TD, Prime showed an angle from behind him in the endzone. It's highlights a point that Purdy threw it well before Bell broke his route. That's alot of trust and anticipation on Purdy's part.
AAAAA
ANTICIPATE BABY
That 7th round connection lol.
It's the cheapest touchdown in NFL history lol
@@crazedvegetable😂😂😂
LOL @@crazedvegetable
He will never fall off. He’s gonna have bad days and he’ll lose games like everyone else.
But his anticipation is synonymous with a deep understanding of the position. It’s hard to teach that, you either have it or not. We finally have a truly competent guy running the show.
Yeah and scrw y’all. My team been drafting first round can’t find a guy that can do half what Purdy does. Blows my mind people need to see this year to confirm Purdue I knew he was the guy after 3 wins last year. Dude gonna be knocking on the top five
Since Joe & Steve
Will he? Hasn't lost yet lol
Either you have it or don't? Who is born out of the womb knowing how to read NFL defenses?
He passes the eye test. Jimmy never anticipated the type of throws that Brock just seems to do naturally.
Kittle wasn't putting the sword away haha. He was saying he had him strapped. Like a seat belt. He was joking that he was on defense. Was funny though
lol Kittle is so dope, hope he's Niner forever
#10 is Ronnie Bell - from Michigan, another 7th round pick.
JT calls everyone by number.😂
the niners should trade all their firsts for late round picks?
J.T. one of the earliest memories of the Niners was when you were QBing for the us. Much love.
blitz on 84% of dropbacks and B. Purdy nailed it!
84%. That. Is. Insane.
This is why this guy is where he is, and Purdy is where he is. Tired of completely mediocre players who NEVER were able to execute anything they’re critiquing. 85% blitzes and he’s blaming Purdy for stuff. Jimmy would have had 3 picks this game. Purdy is on a fast track to being widely regarded as a top 5 QB after this year. Never been with a coach as nuanced as Shanahan, lol, critiquing wide receivers efforts when they’re quite literally the last read is where I draw the line.
@Giants4Life you don't have to be a great player to be a great coach and know what you're SUPPOSED to do.
@@Giants4Life I mean, being the last read isn't an excuse to put in low effort. Like do you think Deebo would defend himself if his coaches harped on him for that play? No, he knows he can try harder lol.
The fact that Purdy's misses in this video are even seen as anomalous should be flattering, not insulting. JT is correctly pointing out that Purdy is normally more accurate with mid-range throws.
@@Giants4Life Ugh. So ignorant. Obviously someone who sat in NFL QB rooms can teach you a lot about how to read a play from the telestrator (it's a different story at the speed of the NFL). Instead of realizing this and seeing this as an opportunity to watch someone who made it to the NFL level teach you how to watch film, you waste it. I've learned so much about how to read which side to throw to, how route concepts work (and how to see 1-2-3), and how all 11 tie together... honestly what JTO & Kurt do is effin gold for football fans.
Leaving the stats at the door.
Purdy passes the eye test.
With jimmy back there, i held my breath every time he dropped back.
With purdy I'm confident that he will make the right decision almost all of the time.
That's a excellent quality to have.
I feel the same way. Purdy isn't great at everything but what he is great at is anticipation, seeing the field (huge Jimmy flaw) and not chucking it to a "wide open" linebacker every other play (cough cough old #10)
Definitely woke up Monday thankful Purdy now our qb
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the center kept hiking the ball low and making Purdy have to reach down for it the whole game. That has to also affect the timing of route plays, not to mention forcing Purdy to lose focus on who is coming in on him for a split second.
yeah I noticed that. they need to clean that up
Bro that shit was so annoying, especially considering how many times the Giants were blitzing Purdy 🙄
@@rawmeseesoundsavvvy170 The blitz probably caused the low snaps
I'll throw it up to TNF. I think that's what the issues were on both sides of the ball. I've seen a lot worse on any given Thursday
Just be glad Brendel haven't snapped the ball off his ass yet like he did a few times last year.
Was waiting for this video after watching the game last night. Watching football has become so fun after watching these videos. Each game Im trying to figure out the pressure, the coverage, what’s the 1st read, watching footwork. It’s great
Brock "Glock" "The Big Cock" Purdy is a stud.....has everything in place to be considered one of the best qb's in the league.
Man its nice to see someone breaking down offensive plays who knows what they’re talking about. You earned yourself a sub
Kid makes big time throws with free rushers running at him. That is half of what it takes to be an NFL QB.
Purdy loves those 1 on 1 matches. That’s a huge indication that he trusts his receivers to get it
Brock is still learning and performing well
Just clicked. This should be good. A game with 80% blitz rate and free rushers galore. Shortest time to release of his career.
2.3 seconds
Spicy 🎉🎉🎉 let's go Niners.
Yea that's an insane adjustment can you imagine our previous 2 QBs trying to adjust to that type of pressure??? Purdy is HIM!!!! lol
Actually his first real game against Miami last year I remember they blitzed purdy a lot.
@@randydaytona5615 Right, that's a short time for a 23y.o. in his 11th game, blitzed 85% with an avg right side OL. He does have great anticipation and teams may slowly blitz him less. Purdy with every game keeps learning. With another 2 yrs exp he'll clean up mistakes and be even better.
I still cant believe the rise of Purdy and as a big 49ers fan i absolutely love it. Its going on 30 years since our last superbowl and having lost the last two was crushing but i really believe Purdy is the one to win title #6. Theres just something about him. He reminds me of a young Tom Brady and his first couple seasons in the NFL when people debated if he was a game manager style qb. As a 49ers qb it will all eventually come down to if Purdy can win a title and hiw he plays on that final drive in the playoffs or superbowl and if he can join the ranks of Montana and Young. His journey has only just begun and he still has alot to prove. Its just crazy how everything has played out so far,its like destiny. Purdy comes in against the team he idolized in the Dolphins and Marino, then he becomes the only rookie qb to beat Tom Brady and he blew out the Bucs in what could one day be looked at as a passing of the torch moment then he gets injured and comes back and keeps playing well. I know 7 or 8 games is a small sample from Purdy but i do think hes the real deal at qb. People forget that the most powerful tool a qb has is his mind. To find the open players,to be able to read and scan the field and make the best decisions and being calm and poised. Accuracy is also very important and Purdy is very accurate and he is very quick. Purdy is everything and more from what we all wanted from Trey Lance. Mr Irrelevant the last pick in the draft and hes on the verge of superstardom.
That 😮 sound you made at 11:18 is priceless. 😂 love the passion man. I cracked up more in this video than any before with you. Thank you for that.
On that Deebo catch where he broke all those tackles, Ronnie Bell blocked his man from hash to hash. That’s why a rookie is getting playing time. They trust him.
Ronnie Bell is showing so much promise.
I was at this game last night. Brock started off rough but got better and better as the game went on. He was masterful against the blitz during the second half.
i agree the way he navigates the pocket now has improved and in person he looks impressive
Brock "Glock" "The Big Cock" Purdy is a stud.....has everything in place to be considered one of the best qb's in the league.
I feel like we will look back on these games and be impressed as he learns and adapts within the same game. How is he gonna look with 5 years experience if this is him with essentially half a season's experience?
The crowd didn't seem like they were into the game that much and sat on their hands.
Nice to see how polished Brock is in some areas and how much he still has left to improve. It'll make watching these videos next year to see improvement more fun.
Brock "Glock" "The Big Cock" Purdy is a stud.....has everything in place to be considered one of the best qb's in the league.
I like how Purdy isn't trying to make a Hero of Himself. The team is pretty stacked and is really helping him get into his groove. If Purdy does his due diligence and continue to develop himself, I'm sure he'll be throwing more of those deep posts with great anticipation next season
He can't get the ball that far.
@@jonnyvelocity lol yes he can.
Pretty stacked…most talent in the league! Very stacked!
Crazy that he has never lost a regular season game.
Never lost a game that he actually finished. Wild. As the last pick of the Draft. Such a wild story
Can’t stand when people bring up that Eagles game and use it against him. It was a freak injury that could happen to any QB and some of these haters act like he lost the game for the Niners lol
@theburnedman5641
The only way to stop him is to hurt him...
Purdy is a beast.
I must say though that I'm waiting for his first season L because it's only going to make him even more of a beast and learn from his mistakes thats only going to make him that much better.
Hurts is 21 and 1 his last 22 games Purdy hasn't even played 17 games yet which is a full NFL season
@unrhu Hurts can't throw consistent. This is why he throws 200 yards at best and constantly gets into arguments with his WRs. He is a good runner, not Vick or Kap, and an average thrower.
Purdy was obviously a little off in the 1st Qtr but once he and Shanahan figured out what the Giants were doing..they capitalised.
He is still young and can clean up some stuff..but he does A LOT of things well. In this game, he showed a lot of ability throwing when he's not set.
Also, the 49ers need to address their pass protection..just because Purdy CAN make those throws with free rushers..doesn't mean he should be exposed as often to that as he has been. He's been pressured on 40% of his dropbacks this season...only 6 QBs have been pressured more often.
They need to protect him better.
It almost felt like Purdy and Shanahan were feeling the Giants out the first couple of drives. Seeing what sort of looks they would get on such a short week for preparation.
Martindale blitzed him on 33 of his 39 drop backs. That's an 85% clip! For reference, league average lately is around 25% blitz rate. It's hilarious to me that nobody is mentioning that he was pretty much under duress the entire night and he still didn't make any big mistakes. All of his detractors are saying last night proves he's a dink and dunk guy. Such ignorance and dishonesty, it's honestly kinda pathetic.
@@googleisskynet7312 it also looked as if Purdy's pass protection had an obvious "leak" on his left side that the Giants were exploiting consistently as they blitzed & blitzed. In my opinion Brock handled the perpetual blitz situation fearlessly. Anyone who can't see how great he is isn't watching enough of the other NFL games being played.
@@PureMagma
100% we saw the same thing. Martindale was running a LOT of different looks and exotic blitzes. So the line was getting confused about blocking assignments. Even Trent and CMC missed a couple of assignments, which is probably what you saw on the left side. Shanahan wasn't prepared initially for an 85% blitz rate. He was initially calling some plays with a lot of moving pieces that took time to unfurl. Those weren't successful with the pressure the Giants were bringing, so Shanny adjusted and started calling screens and a lot of quick hitters. The defense will usually adjust once they start getting burned by the short game, but Martindale just kept blitzing relentlessly, so Shanahan just kept running the short game LOL. It was a really weird game to watch for someone who actually knows what they're looking at.
@@googleisskynet7312 Bingo. It may have looked like a bad or average at best game for Purdy, but if you go back and watch the game, put his throws in slo-mo, he had a much better game than what the average viewer saw through the telecast. Those who are so down on him haven't taken the time to honestly study the film.
Back To Back Brock!!! Note: Blitzed 33 Of His 39 Dropbacks
The Giants blitzed on 85% of all passing plays by the Niners. That is the most in the modern era. All the big struggles came at the start, the first few drives scripted before the game. Once Kyle Shanahan and Purdy settled in and adjusted to the blitz, he really found his stride and continued to make some great throws
I too think I’ve noted Deebo having two speeds, or sense of urgency. I was hoping it would subside with last season’s distraction. He’s such a high effort guy with the ball in his hands, I wonder if he knows what a clear signal he’s sending to an experienced corner. Maybe a film session with Uncle Sherm could make him less oblivious. Jimmy G used to ask Richard what he would see, that would get him to move on the ball. It has to do with speed and shape not looking right.
Yes, BUT Deebo's simply getting tried from all the hitting. JT is right, he should take himself out for a play.
3 games, 3 pulling starters. Purdy is dope. With the team he has around him the sky is the limit
This is probably the only channel where videos are longer than 10 minutes and closer to 20 or 30. Where I don't feel like it takes that long. Such great analysis, JT. Thank you!
OL last night for SF was not ready to protect. They adjusted second half but they put Brock in some really tough positions to make quick throws.
It was tbf and I’d say my opinion on our O-Line is this
LT Trent Williams = still the best LT in the game even at his age he just let his emotions get to him last night
LG Aaron Banks = got shit off some fans at first but is turning into a solid guard
C Jake Brendel = he’s not terrible but he’s not great either though he’s ok enough to do what he needs to do
RG Spencer Burford = in his second year and I can see him following banks in development so I reckon he’ll be even better next year
RT Colton McKivitz = I like Colton but he ain’t it he’s more of a depth guy/back up at best and hopefully with how some teams will suck and how much cap space we have maybe we’ll get a better RT before or at the deadline
Th OL is helped out a lot with #23 blocking in the backfield. Probably only his mother knows he plays football in the NFL.
Bro hasn’t even played a full season of nfl football yet it’s crazy how much potential he has
Dirty Purdy doesn’t even have a full season yet and is killing it 🔥🔥🔥
The niners resigned Shanahan and Lynch to multi yr extensions based on Purdys 3 games this season lol
Go to hell-bears fans
I wish you included the dropped TD or maybe batted pass to CMC. That was a perfect throw and execution he pulled by stepping up in the pocket to make that throw.
It was ripped off by LB Micah McFadden
Dude I just realized you played for the 9ers in ‘08. I’m an idiot and never made the connection until now! I always liked you on the 9ers. Thanks for getting this Purdy video out I was wondering what you were going to say
He was good. Until he threw picks
Yea he was kind of a gunslinger type from what I remember… He always seemed like a good QB though
he hd some nice moments but he had problems with turnovers.
Pretty insane that the offense put up 30, when Purdy not having the sharpest game... on a Thursday night, short week, without Brandon Aiyuk, and the defense blitzes at an extremely high rate.
Just gotta appreciate that, while not every decision and throw is perfect, Brock Purdy plays really fast, very decisive.
Thanks Coach,Brock is very young but he needed a game getting blitzed almost every snap its only gonna help him in the future..Brock is a great fit for Kyles Offense and is getting better every game..He looked like he could of used a few more days off having to play on Thursday Night but as the game went on he got better..And he learned alot as you seen how much better he played in the 2nd half..Give him 10 more games and he will be hitting the hot WR..Young QBs dont do what Brock is doing if you didnt know he was a rookie QB less than 10 games you couldnt tell in this game or any other game he played this year love watching him grow..
they blitzed him like 84 - 88% of the time last night...he did superb for that...❤
I signed Ronnie Bell right before the game and started him. Following my lead, one of my league mates went and hit up the 1 TD prop bet and won $200. There are those of us who know who #10 is.
He really played great football in this game! His attention definitely stayed on the field. Congratulations to you for helping someone pick a winner! 😎💯
Check out his downfield blocking on the Deebo catch where he’s got a defender hanging on him for ten yards, too.
With BA out that makes sense.
@@eddierodriguez3472 Yeah, that's what prompted me to sign him. I said in the league chat, "if you watched the preseason, you understand that signing." Someone went, "I watched almost every preseason game. I definitely understand it."
Sadly I'm in a state that doesn't allow online betting or I'd have done the prop bet as well. I just had a feeling he'd get something. I see a major talent and yet another big hit for the 49ers in the 7th round.
@@biznatcho7 Deebo did an interview this week in which he mentioned Ronnie as being someone who was shocked at how 49ers receivers blocked, but bought into it immediately and is putting in the work.
What's most encouraging about Brock are games like this, where the physical stuff isn't quite up to expectations, but he doesn't let it impact his mentals. Goes through progressions, makes his (usually correct) reads, doesn't lose composure.
He played fantastic. If this is a bad game then he’s better than any QB has ever been by far.
He struggled a bit at the start but he definitely picked it up in the 2nd half.
He was blitzed on 85% of his dropbacks. It's crazy that he didn't turn the ball over.
@@googleisskynet7312 Not only that, but Purdy proved that if the other teams answer to HIM is to throw everything but the kitchen sink at him, well...they better come with a better plan. Trying to force him into making costly mistakes just isn't going to work.
3 missed throws is not struggling lol
@@itskelvinn 3 missed throws in 2 drives isn’t that good
Struggled? Who? When?
7:50 If that's the hot, it's well-covered.
22:39 Kyle is taking the underneath now and setting up the post for later in the season.
27:26 He didn't have time to get it to 19 due to the rusher. Timing of the play was messed up by the pass rush. Also it looks like the play is designed to go to the right, probably due to the number of defenders on the left (pre-snap read). It's probably meant to go to Kittle, who lost his feet on the shove (and grab?).
29:17 Can't see it from this angle, but Deebo took a knee to the ribs.
32:21 Gotta disagree. The ball was perfect. He put it a little underneath and outside where only the receiver could get it.
Love these videos, find myself waiting for the Purdy film every week as a niners fan.
Me too. I even hope Brock takes some time off to watch these videos of himself 😄
At the end of the year you will see a title saying what happened to the 49ers
You will see the title with the 49ers.
The YAC in this game just unreal ! & how bout Purdy for MVP ???
My second favorite part of the Bell TD was Kittle making sure to grab the ball for bell to keep.
Thank you for doing these break downs! I only watch the niner QB breakdowns tbh but it's super informative and helpful to better understand the QB performance but also understand NFL offenses and plays better. Thanks!
Fantastic analysis. Detailed breakdown of all of the subtle nuances, and in a way that it is easy to see and understand. Thank you!
You're really good at analyzing. Thank you
Thank you for the Purdy coverage--I really think his vision and quick decision making is what is making him so efficient. Love these breakdowns as I apply them on game day when the game is rolling!
Last weeks game and this last one has me starting to worry about Deebos effort when he’s not the guy in the play. Glad I’m not the only person who’s noticed that. Earn that big ass contract you just got bro
You are doing a wonderful job at raising all our I.Q's. Cal Aggies are smart folks and you are making us all so very proud of you. Great analytics. Keep it up kiddo.
Love the show, JT. I hope fellow Niner Brock brings even more love to your channel. He’s an interesting case study to say the least.
Well done.
Great, well spotted criticism and praise.
It's crazy that they're gonna continue to improve from here and even when they have sloppy plays drives or a quarter, they're still scoring 30ppg
Having that running game helps so much.
As a Hawkeye fan it pains me to admit but this dude has moxie.
Brendel needs to get his shotgun snaps in a consistently better location. Purdy is having to reach down on almost every one of these snaps.
Comment from a french niner fan since 2010, 2 years sub and first time i say anything good about what you did in a Video. I wasnt sold on BP until u gave him crédit in W2 and not éven 19h after the game u drop this
Thank you sir
Brock "Glock" "The Big Cock" Purdy is a stud.....has everything in place to be considered one of the best qb's in the league.
Love your break downs of my guy Purdy. 🔥
I really think the lack of arm strength is a counterintuitive positive for brock purdy. Since it takes the ball longer to get to the target he has to process and make his reads a lot earlier than quarterbacks who have stronger arms.
These are pretty amazing. I don't know if it's realistic, but it would be incredible for the nostalgia and whatnot to do one of these long in-depth videos for one of the 49ers superbowls with Montana...or Young.
Awesome Doc! Informative, Insightful, Intuitive!!! Always an honor and a pleasure!!!
I appreciate that
4:40 Agree with you 100%, JT. I love Deebo, but....yep.
He studies extremely well. He knows windows. He throws into them with confidence. But where the defenders aren’t and let the receivers run into the spot.
JT, can you do a series with other positions? I’d love to see the RB school, the WR school… etc. As fans, we talk shit about the players thinking that these are simple things to do but you break down how something that we perceive as simple as highly complex. I think it will bring an appreciation to the game and a newfound respect for other players.
I’m learning so much from these breakdowns. Thank you.
Such awesome analysis!!! Thank you so much!
JT, this is great stuff, thanks for the outstanding content
Thank you again JT. Awesome job and it really helps us understand the position on a much deeper level.
Wow that was fast. Love the content my man keep it up!
Absolutely LOVE your channel Dr O'Sullivan. The quality break downs + the humor & personality.
Hell yea…LFG!!!! Been waiting for this to drop 🔥🔥🔥
Appreciate your insight.
where are all the brock haters at. common i know there are some! 😂
Right here, and if you watched the game you would’ve seen why. Man almost threw 3 interceptions (2 on the first drive) and was making inaccurate throws all night. He had a handful, aka you can count them on one hand, of good plays
BROCK PURDY 🌪
Average qb at best
@@Whazzuppok, first of all he didn't throw any interceptions and second did he lose though?
He’s a good not great qb i like the way he plays but the moment ppl say too 5 and top 10 i think thats where i draw the line
Hasn't even played a full season yet and this offense isn't easy to grasp yet here he is playing and making great throws and getting his playmakers the ball.
Good analyis. Enjoyed the show. Thanks!
Dude you got my script. Video by noon shows me you're a hard worker.
Love your videos JT. I think you did a great job explaining the 1st play. He obviously didnt see the CB. But even if that guy isn't there its a miss. Kittle isn't catching that regardless. Purdy is really good but he does seem to miss a few big plays every game. Miss accuracy wise. They are a top unit and could be even better. Also you're 100% spot on about Deebo. It's not up for debate. It's all over the film
Enjoy your content & honesty
I was hoping you would have covered the incompletion to McCaffrey that would have been a TD if he held on. Was a great throw!
Great content!
Another banger. I was looking forward to your take
Love this!!! THX
EXCELLENT breakdown. Interesting point on Deebo also. thanks JT
Balanced and thoughtful. Thx.
Come on JT, it’s not a sword, it’s a seatbelt 😂 Strapped!
Great vid bro!
#10 Ronnie Bell lol remember this name! Keep up the great work, thanks from Spain!
I subscribed to your channel because I like your play by play demonstration of the game’s, good job, keep up the great job…!!!
Thanks for the sub!
The play at 5:30 - it looks like an imprecise throw since it's behind the receiver but I wonder if he meant to put it there to get it over #29
To stare down Wink and beat his blitz routinely is special and few can do this or have done it consitently without injury
I love the “HIT the bell”
Hey man, major props on the channel. Love the way you break it down in the zoo. I would say that if there's an Achilles heel to this 9ers team, it is the O-line. They will be challenged by Parsons and the Cowboys in 2 weeks. We'll see if Purdee can answer that bell. That's shaping up to be the match up of the year so far. Can't wait.
You’re getting your TDs tonight for The People’s TE!!
Can you do a run game breakdown as a QB? How it feels to call runs and screens on long distance downs, handoffs out of shotgun, swing passes, etc and what it does for the team
A new channel I subscribed to that im always looking for new content to drop! lets goooo! #GoNiners
I was just thinking the same thing about deebo , I agree with you on that everyone should be playing hard every play
Easy to say from a fans perspective.. At the same time, Deebo is being asked to do what really no other WR's are being asked to do and thats being a duel threat WR/RB and run between the tackles as well..Lawrence Taylor was noted as someone who took plays off, but he showed up when it mattered..
Everybody who thinks that Purdy is a mediocre, not much to him, plug and play QB, you don’t need much skill to play in this team should watch these videos.
I don’t think he’s mediocre but I also don’t think he’s the next coming of Brady either! He’s fallen into a perfect situation: great receivers and running back, good offensive line, on a great defensive team! Even if Purdy had played mediocre, the 49ers are winning most of those games so long as he doesn’t turn the ball over!
Please continue doing these breakdowns on Brock. As a niner fan I really appreciate it. If Brock has the work ethic that it takes to be an all time great QB, I think he will be.
We’ll see! Has to stay healthy AND have a great supporting cast!
