I had a dog like that. Hated everything with an engine and wheels. Chewed the rubber of multiple lawnmower tires and even dragged a mower across the yard and down into the creek one time 😮
I’m enjoying this series too Jeff, I can see why you took a while to get around to doing it. It is a big job but the old girl will be nice to use when it is done.
Thank you Jeff. Your continued perserverance and patience are lessons to us all. I love the way you never let something beat you, you come back the next day with an inventive idea and beat the iron into place. Jeff wins for sure ;-)
The satisfaction of rebuilding these machines will be great every minute of operation will be with pride start to finish even for a flatlander like Jpaydirt , stay safe sir dirt
Saw the short showing the cylinder popping out. Goes to show never leave a hillbilly with a shop full of tools and other devices. We will either get the job done or tear up a bunch of stuff trying to figure it out and refix it. 😂😂.
You, sir, are the picture of persistence...... eventually, you get stuff apart. That 9 is gonna be nice when you get it done. Guys who can still work on that older equipment are a dying breed. Watching your videos takes me way back and reminds me how much work that was compared to the high sprocket dozens of today. It's hard to believe assholes refer to your machines as junk. those scrapers are about as sweet as they come, especially for C models. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for another great video Jeff. I (as a mechanic) am lucky enough to have a friend/ mentor kind of like you, who owns a company that is similar to your in some aspects. His mentality is the same as yours, the best equipment is the stuff that’s paid for, and reliable. An “old man” as some people may call you guys (please don’t take offense, I don’t think you’re old, LoL) with knowledge like yours is irreplaceable, while the young guys are using tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars of precision gps and grading equipment on hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars of shiny new equipment, someone with with knowledge and experience like you can achieve the same grade, and you don’t have to worry about if you have a full battery or a good connection, LoL! I really enjoy your videos, knowledge, and insights. By the way, LE on bolts stands for the manufacturer Lake Erie, and if I’m not mistaken all of there fasteners are made here in the USA. Have a great day and thank you for another great video!
ROTFL! He is a game little fellow. I loved the zoomies doing laps of the pressure washer while you were starting it, and then biting it showing it who is boss.
Great video Jeff glad to see you're getting the U-blade all back together. Once you get your track frame back you'll be close to having undercarriage back together with the new tracks. Thanks for sharing stay safe Jeff.
Fiesty little Gorky, he was gonna eat the ass end of that hot pressure washer. Good boy Griffey. Fantastic seperation makes the mission successful as Jeff wins again.
Your a hard working mother trucker Jeff, awesome work an awesome video series, lovin the work an commentary, thanks for sharing an I look forward to seeing the next video 💪🤙👍🇺🇲✊ #T2024
It's a darn shame about the electrical issues that You and Matt are facing on the excavator. This newer equipment is great... until it isn't. The line-boring work that You've had done on the D9 is fascinating. Good luck getting Killdozer back on track. Best Wishes to everyone at Anderson Construction, their Families and Friends.
Jeff to remove a piston easily fit a hydraulic fitting and then connect it to a pressure supply like a tractor or porta power and use hydraulic oil to drive it out the worse that can happen is you make a mess
Good job mate love watching your videos that ram was pretty stubborn but you got it you do what you gotta do looking forward to seeing more of your videos
About 4:30 I mused... bet he puts some air on it ... boy I hope he stands back ... :-) :-) You can compress air, but you cannot compress fluid. At 9:17 we have the NASA solution ... :-) :-) At 11:40 I started to cry ... 13:00 you used the universal "F" word then within seconds the solution. :-) :-) "Hit this and run ... " works every time.
Jeff continues to win! Glad you got the cylinder apart without injury, air can be hairy. Hydraulic pressure is better if you've got a pump - easy to get way over 200psi Makes a mess I suppose and given the size of tthese rams wastes a lot of oil. I've just written down the reasons why you don't do it 😊😊
Jeff, can you do a mini featurette on your Case 446 lawn/garden tractor please...? It looks in amazing condition. does it still have the original Onan engine still in it...? My first ever job was working for a chap who had a fleet (well, three actually...!) of the 646/648 backhoe loader variants...superb machines 👌
My experience with heavy equipment was mining. I know that we ran my equipment differently than you use yours. The 9s were used primarily in the cut pushing shot rock. We steered with tilt only, no clutch when pushing. Since the tilt was constantly being used, leakage around the tilt cylinder piston seals wouldn't be noticed. If the polish rod and seals were good, there wouldn't be any oil lost either. The reason I mention this is that the small amount of rust damage on the cylinder bore that did not hone out would not have mattered to us. I understand that it may be different for you though.
LE fasteners....Centrally located in the American heartland, Fontana Fasteners, Inc. produces LE USA® fasteners and provides customers with high quality cold-formed fasteners producedfrom steel melted and rolled exclusively in the USA
I would think that a slight bit of cylinder rust pitting (not too deep) isn't as bad as a scared rod because all that will happen is slight internal bypass (only in the effected area) which isn't going to be leaking out externally? May be a loss of hydraulic power but with such little pitting, my guess is that it wouldn't really be noticeable during normal operation? The only thing to worry about is if the bypass gets to the point where it will erode your wear sleeves and whatnot.
Those calipers you got are very sensitive to temperature change, make sure they're acclimated and don't hold them in your hands too long. Same with what you are measuring
You should have used the pressure washer to push it out . We use the pressure washer to pressure test well heads after we finish drilling and setting the plug down hole until the service rig can finish the well .you can pressure it up slowly and up to the pressure washers max if needed.
@@Jpaydirt yes that is one obstacle and when trying to get that task done the air should have done the job especially with that large diameter piston. Love seeing you tackle these jobs . It’s very good to see you winning 🤔 as when working by your self takes more time than we all realize.
Le bolts are made in USA by Fontana Fasteners for Cat, John Deer and others. You can go .015" over with standard seals, the tapererd oversize head seal is almost useless your beter of machening the head to fit the o'ring face seal when .015" oversize or more specs and part numbers are in the Cat hydraulic cylinder seals guide.
Are the laws for width such in your stake to allow you to move with the blade on? Know back in the 80 when I moved 9G and 9H with U blades we had to take them off due to width.
Why not just jack it apart with hydraulic pressure? fill it with used oil and then put the pressure to it with a hydraulic pressure source like your jack/porta power unit.
@@Jpaydirt We used to strain the chunks out and then cook the water out of contaminated oil and then filter it for reuse at the hydraulic shop I worked at, cheaper to recycle and reuse than dispose of it and buy new. Used it to test all rebuilt components before shipping.
That can certainly happen. I know of a header (combine to some) belonging to a mate that got struck by lightening. It fried everything, they couldn’t even start it. Of course it struck the newest of his fleet and they were parked together. Cost a bomb and they won’t know if it is any good till harvest later this year.
I never get tired of this introduction. It still makes me smile 😊.
That intro drew me to this channel years ago after my wife died. Been here ever sense. I'm retired truck driver Owner operator. Big stuff, big tools.
Absolutely phenomenal amount of determination and dedication. Big iron, big job.

You work 12 hours a day to get it done. Jeff Wins! is hard work. I have a D7 and need to get it going.
Thanks for the lessons, Jeff.
Getting closer to having the 9 back in service.
I like how you rebuilt the cylinder but kept the original patina so it matches the rest of the blade.😂
Thanks for your time. I do enjoy watching these videos.

I just repacked a Hyd. Cyl. today.
Wasn't that big and heavy, but same steps apply.
Jeff Wins!!
You got more projects than Jimmy Carter has Peanuts
Nothing is fast with big iron. May be taking longer but it will be done right.
Have very much enjoyed the rebuild.
Thanks for your time.

Thanks Jeff for the old intro. When you are prying with the bar and fall off I've been there. Jeff wins!
Sure been a project...I am thankful to have been able to watch from in the AC at night. 👍👍

Gotta love the original paydirtarosa intro.
my favorite is king of the hill intro
I have the Bonanza song stuck in my head..... That was a cool side shift cylinder blast.

Thanks for all the hard work making these videos jeff. I know its a lot more work for you filming it vs just doing the work.
You are going good Jeff well done

G'day Jeff,
Thanks for all the vids on the dozer ,
really enjoy them ,the ram had me on the edge of my seat ,
But ,
Jeff wins .
Respect.....!
My heeler does the same thing. Bites at anything that moves and runs too. Even my dozer tracks and brooms. That hard work takes a lot of grit🤘
Because the little China man's that made them wasn't Cat !
I love it Jeff WINS!!
Been enjoying all your work on the big Cats bro. Safe travels. Ken.
Nice work jeff she's getting closer and closer to a push

i like your videos ...but i really like the wrench time ones. good job jeff!
At Work we use the mast on the towmotor
Loving the series Jeff wish I could give you a hand.
Hone, hone 😀 n the range where Jeff and the Cats play....
Jeff will win! Thanks Jeff
Can we have more boom vids. That was exciting like the 4th of July. Remember safety first😂😂😂
I knew SOME DAY you would use that extension for something other then wall art. LOL
never seen you move so fast done well

Hook your pressure washer up to that cylinder

Hook your hydralic cylinder jack hose to it and blow it out or a tractor hydralic hose .
Jeff. Thanks for the video's.
Bon Boulo Grand Bordel autour des machine 👍👍😆😆

Very good quality bolts worth every penny love the videos jeff
Keep on trucking
All most done
Thanks for the video.
Mics Starrett to boot.
You should have hooked the pressure washer hose to it and let the water push it out
70's case lawn and garden tractor
Are the laws for width such in your stake to allow you to move with the blade on? Know back in the 80 when I moved 9G and 9H with U blades we had to take them off due to width.
yup I can move with the blade on, I wouldn't ask anyway LOL

whadya think about using a pressure washer to push it out? Less explody anyways.
a grease gun might have worked better with higher pressure and less "pop" when she lets loose
Is that a Gravely tractor? Maybe an Ariens?
i wonder if u got a defective ir impact gun seems like it impacts you more than the bolt?
Why not just jack it apart with hydraulic pressure? fill it with used oil and then put the pressure to it with a hydraulic pressure source like your jack/porta power unit.
Thats a lot of money in wasted oil, plus I would have to refill my pump several times

Are you going to paint the blade ?😊
So, Anti Seize hardens up over time.......
add engine oil to hard neversieze?
Can your Cylinder guy sleeve that first cylinder?
I wondered about that
👋

Shop Foreman Mr. Griffy approved this episode.
Why didn't you just use a porta power
My thoughts initially.
But too much wasted oil I guess.
@@markdauncey927 yes and it would be contaminated
tarded, as in re...
Again Jeff wins I like that !!
do you have much lightening in your area? think the 336 has been hit by it?
That can certainly happen. I know of a header (combine to some) belonging to a mate that got struck by lightening. It fried everything, they couldn’t even start it.
