This was no pointless relationship, not narratively at least. This is a sad, terrifying predicament. Mark wanted to lead a happy, quaint, enriching human life, just like his mom, and in spite of viltrumites. He wanted to so badly, negligent of his metric of power, but obligation after obligation came, robbing him months of earthly time. Anissa was the last straw, she killed Mark's way of life, that sense of normalcy given throughout all his childhood. Him coming to face that, and the temptations of violence he likens to Nolan, and inadvertently failing/endangering Amber. It all hits him at 2:26, the love was hurting. It was a bitter, ugly ending to a cute chapter of his life, which made him cry, which admittedly made me too.

The thing is Omni man didn’t have people that could go up against him and he made it pretty clear his identity was secret. Mark on the other hand has the responsibility of being the earth’s protector and has viltrum people looking at him at all times.
Amber has the will. She makes that much clear when she says this isn't about being brave, but rather about her lack of agency, that she can't stay in a relationship where her life feels so inconsequential. It's not that she's afraid of dying, she afraid that if she died it wouldn't be about her, that all it would be is a way for one of Mark's enemies to hurt him.

They still should have kept her like her original self, not just her personality mind you but her design as well. Raceswapping is not only lazy, it's very racist as well. From white to black or black to white doesn't matter anything in that regard.
Even though her blunder in season 1 can be summed up as what was probably a writing mistake, it also works as a fatal character flaw and sense of entitlement. Amber was finally faced with the reality of Marks life in his fight with Nolan, and from then on she’s been doing all that she can to be understanding and tolerant. All things considered Amber wasnt a bad person. She had good ethics and did care for people among all of her flaws that many didn’t like. This scene and the music was really nicely put together.
This echos a lot of relationships where it feels selfish to think about yourself. People who leave othrs because of depression, stress or a difference of life. Despite trully and deepply loving them you never felt like it is your choice to stay. They really did course correct with Amber. From a person who felt super selfish and ignorant on Mark's responsibilities, to someone who is hyper aware of them and felt deeply guilty about feeling unhappy.
@@GameHunterDeathhunter honestly? Maybe for the best. There's no way you can really justify Amber being angry in season 1 and the backlash was real. Could've had Mark get mad back at her for her reasons, but it would've felt awkward to do so much later on. Her reasons here are fully valid, there are people who can't date Cops/Firefighters/military for the same reason, and this is honestly what a lot of people voiced as being what they WANTED Amber to be mad about early on. For me? I think if they just changed one thing about Amber's initial blow-up, it would've been just fine. If Amber stated in that blowup (and wasn't mad at Mark for not spilling the beans on his secret identity, OR for spilling it TOO EARLY!) that she wasn't mad at *him*... just mad at the situation and the fact that she COULDNT blame him because what he was doing was good, but it was still tearing her up regardless, which is the concern she expressed here. I still hate that scene in Season 1, but I think going a different route instead of trying to double down on what was clearly a bad change from the comics? I think that was a good call on the writers part.
No, they merely reverted her personality back to her original self. They should have kept her like how she was in the comic, which includes her appearance. Raceswapping a character just to appeal to a bunch of racist people just leaves a bad taste in my mouth (and yes, raceswapping a white character to being black IS racist. You are essentially saying that her original skincolor "isn't good enough". Imagine if it was the way around).
@@nielsdejong I mean... I'd agree that raceswapping white to black for no reason than just to appeal is pretty racist, however it's not crucial to her character for being a certain appearance. I think the character's just fine appearance wise, my only gripe is how she blew up in Season 1, as everyone has made clear they're not okay with either. There's a difference between raceswapping solely for the sake of appealing, and raceswapping because 'honestly it doesn't matter', and Ive got no issue with this. This is a different matter than taking, say, Iron Fist and making him Asian (Which also is kinda racist that people feel the need to make martial arts characters all asian...) When one of the aspects of the character is to show that he's not a native to the place he works out of, as it was intended originally to give an idea for Americans as to how it feels to be the outlier via having him work out of China. Then you've got someone like Mary Jane Watson. Much as I loved Zendaya's character in the Tom Holland movies, I could never get over one thing... She didn't have red hair. Sounds small, sure, but that was always a striking feature about her! She still commanded presence whenever she was on screen and talking, but in a different way that I was fond of, so she still stuck true to the character itself, but the lack of red hair always bothered me as a fan. so then we go back to Amber. None of her features were particularly striking and nothing ever was super important in regards to her race/culture, so there's really no issue in changing her race... specially since it wasn't shoved down our throats every 5 seconds.
I don't understand the hate between Amber and Mark being together. I understand if they wanna break up. They both see it in themselves that they're kinda failing each other, and I love that about them.
I think It’s because of what happened in S1 where amber was pissed at mark for disappearing during an episode acting like he abandoned her and the next episode where he told her the truth she was like “I already know your a super hero, I’ve known for weeks” so her “anger” is unjustified as she knew he was the guy who saved her, will, and the collage and the fact she never apologized for what she said and did.

They really did course correct with Amber. From a person who felt super selfish and ignorant on Mark's responsibilities, to someone who is hyper aware of them and felt deeply guilty about feeling unhappy.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEES finally the mark eve arc begins
Bout fuckin time
Well, at least THIS break-up is WAY more relatable than in the comics, and that’s no joke!
I wasn't a big fan of the romance from season 1 but they did them right in season 2 and made the breakup really sad.
Welp! Now that Mark's a one-man-band, it's time for him to get his priorities straight, forget about college, and get started on his training
About fuckin time
OH NO they broke up
"ANYWAY" - a smart farmer that loves cars
This is Mark understanding why his father felt women in his life were just pets. And hating it so much.
"pops champagne"
Moistcritical: Wooooh! Yeah baby! that's what I've been waiting for!
YEYYYY! ABOUT TIME!
If she wasn't in season 1, she'd be a pretty good character.
But she was, and being good here doesn't absolve those decisions.
Thank god this is over.
I teared up
Best scene in this show !
WHERE WAS THIS WRITING IN SEASON 1! Imagine all the hate Amber could avoid, if she acted like THIS during THAT scene!
So glad he's done with Amber!!! Let us have a toast!!! 🍾 🥂 🍾 🥂 🍾 🥂 🍾
They definitely did Amber's character justice. Her reasoning is genuinely valid, and the whole scene was delivered so well.
This dude blatantly ignoring season 1 lmao. She sucks and no amount of retcons will change that
@Reno750 so did the writers to be fair like they clearly just ignoring that argument ever happen lol
I knew this would happen
Her delivery of “I can’t live in your world. I want to…” was gut wrenching.
This break up between Mark and Amber it's definitive and also the next episode is the final of the series or will we have a season 3?
Season 3 was already confirmed 💯
S2 and S3 were confirmed long ago in 2021 Kirkmen is shooting for 8 seasons of invincible to cover all 144 issues
Well hoesntly at this point I think we all take L's. Life be shitting on us all for no reason at all 😢.
I don't understand the hate between Amber and Mark being together. I understand if they wanna break up. They both see it in themselves that they're kinda failing each other, and I love that about them.
Amber is a worthless pos thats why
I agree, why they hate Mark and Amber together, to me they are perfect together. 💔💔💔😢😢😢🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
I'm happy they broke up. I don't care what anyone says.
It's mostly because of how she acted during S1. She acted terribly towards Mark, so people kind of dislike her.
I actually felt this moment ngl but then, LETS GOOOOOOOO ITS NOW EVE'S TIME TO SHINE
Poor mark❤😔
"We can give you superpowers"
Better than how the writers for Harley Quinn did Ivy and Kiteman.
IS THAT ETHEL CAIN IN THE BACKGROUND
God, finally
He puts his life at risk, saving the world.
And she STILL makes it all about her.
She makes that exact point saying she doesn't wanna be that person. Did you watch the scene?
Just like a Whamen 😅
I mean she almost could’ve died.
Yes but she was well aware of the dangers and still treated him like the bad guy last season. @@tariqmuhammad471
I mean it does have something to do with her since her life can be in danger just being with him.
Now the question is... will Amber date an abusive guy and will Mark threaten Amber's abusive boyfriend over a tall building?
That's the question and the answer Is:
Yes.
FINALLY!
Finally!!!! Now we can have Samantha and Mark!!!!
This was kind of expected
I know that must be disheartening knowing there is literally nothing you can do
From season 1 to season 2 writers did a great job with Amber
🥺 😭 oh my God. This is too sad to watch. I know we were expecting them to break up, but this is so heartbreaking.
🙄Oh, thank God.
Anissa: "So he's single?" 😏

I didn’t even know this was a break up
I understand that this scene needed to happen but the entire time I'm like "Am I supposed to feel sad about this?"
I hope this means Mark and Eve will start dating.
Yh I think this breakup is ok than those sort of break ups
I’m sorry I couldn’t not notice the shoes on the bed 😭😭😭
Yea if I was Amber, I don’t wanna be put in life or death situations, or be alone 24/7. Eve better make a move now
Thank God they're over. I might actually watch the show now.
