Great review Anthony. A 4,400 lb. Mini made me lol a bit! I wonder what John Cooper would have to say lol! I love Mini but they are too small for me. I really like this a lot but that center touch screen for everything would be a deal breaker. It did sound to me like that transmission was not revving to high when you were smashing the go pedal no or?. Happy long Memorial day weekened to you! I was very excited for this one when I went to the Mini event which they gave me a few to test but this one the screen didn't work 😔 and the one they showed every at the event worked, come on guys 😂 . Unfortunate because of this I couldn't see what mode I was in, could not lower the climate control or fan but I could turn on and off the radio. When I went back I told them they didn't finish the pdi (programing of the vehicle) but I added footage of the Mini cooper S so I could show how it looks working but with this vehicle it has a few other feature which next time around I will show.
Nothing planned on this side kids finished school today and we are all getting ready to go to England. My wife is going about 2 months, kids just a little over 2 months and I will go for 2 weeks. I'm planning on reviewing some vehicles overseas 😃 . Enjoy the long weekend James
@@HawkeyeRides Oh wow that sounds amazing! I've watched a few CZcamsrs over there reviewing cars and it was great. I don't know about driving on the left. I went to Thailand and they drive on the left and drive like complete maniacs lol I plan to just lay low here and enjoy the cool weather while it's here. Have a good one Anthony
Nice to finally see an American review of this vehicle on American soil. You seemed a bit rushed. I test drove this car a couple of weeks ago and my own one arrived in Michigan today for my pickup next Tuesday. I really liked how it drove,:especially in Go-Kart mode which really sharpened the gear changes and the HUD was clear with speed, speed limit and turn directions so I didn’t need to keep checking the infotainment screen. I hope that mine won’t have the same issues that your test one did.

No rush just wasn’t happy with the infotainment not working. They are still fun vehicles to drive congratulations when you get it 👍

Nice review…I agree with you…bring back the button and toggle switches…not a fan of the center screen, though they did a great job with it for what it is…I just test drover it while my 2023 Countryman was getting the oil changed….I was impressed. Like the looks of the previous gen better, but all in all, it’s a great vehicle…I need another vehicle that is a bit bigger for road trips…was thinking do the easy thing and get a CRV hybrid or RAV4 hybrid, but this thing is, like you said, a BMW for 12-15k less…tranny is almost flawless (better than a CVT any day), seats and sound system are excellent! Was blown away by the Harmon Kardon…never heard one I liked until this one…we’ll see if it’s big enough for us…family of 4 with two grown post teen boys…It’s still much smaller than the Toyota or Honda, but might not need all that room, and can always throw a roof rack on if needed!!

As a steering wheel connoisseur, the mini steering wheel has officially enteted top 5 best modern steering wheels, joining the likes of the bmw m sport steering wheel in the 2024 5 and 7 series

Very similar to X1 M sport steering wheel. Big win on this front.
I’m not a big car person but I’m gonna need one eventually, hope a big Mini is small enough that I feel comfortable and big enough for whatever I’ll need.
I really like the new minimalistic design, I barely look at the speedometer since my Mini has the HUD so I don’t mind losing that, but I do hope the new one has more things in the HUD to compensate.
Review is pretty great, but as I’m not American I couldn’t understand any of the numbers 🤷♂️
They are nice vehicles and it is big but in a smaller size package 👍
It's okay. It's more a BMW X1 than a MINI. They are both built at the same factory in Germany. That's not a bad thing, but it's too big to be a MINI. With the same options it's thousands cheaper than an X1. Not to mention since it's slightly smaller and has less weight it is faster than the X1. Unless someone likes the looks of the X1 better the Countryman is a better deal.
I agree it’s definitely well priced
They are built in different factories. I purchased a fully optioned Mini which is a better deal than the X1 and I find the screen better than the X1 after a few days of driving. The seats are definitely more comfortable as well.
I’ve had the two previous models of the Countryman…both were spectacular vehicles and I’ve loved the way they drive and their luxury amenities (I had signature level trim). I was really looking forward to this new model, because I welcome the little bigger footprint. I am so…so…disappointed with the new interior dash and upper door trim. Odd colors, odd feeling material, with little odd highlight colors mixed in, and they don’t really fit in with the seat and lower door and dash trim colors. All this is just my opinion…but it will keep me from buying one. Don’t think I can look at that interior every day…

@@HawkeyeRides I will try and be open minded, but I have sat in a few of the new models now, and put a handful of miles driving them, and I feel like this interior was a huge miss. My belief is it will hurt sales overall...it really bums me out. Even the sales people at the dealers (I have visited two) admitted that the interiors have caused issues with their sales. I'll be hoping they make a change soon...

I'm a bit confused on what you're saying about the screen. Is there a defect or is there a design flaw on how it functions:
1) What is the issue with the BDI and what does that mean?
2) Through the touch screen you can't control a) climate control and b) drive modes? 13:00
I have test two now and both have had problems with either the head up display or the touchscreen. You see it is not working, my problem like I stated is when this happens you lost a lot of controls because everything is with in the touchscreen.
@@HawkeyeRides - I just drove one with the head-up display not popping up. Not sure if it was something in the settings or some defect.

@HawkeyeRides like a fungus? I don't think so. It unappealing inside and out. The only positive thing I can say is the increase in size and ground clearance.
