  • Banjaiga’s Open House 29 features Faisal Rashid's Residence designed by SRDW & Co-Lab. This beautiful house is situated in Block C, Model Town, Lahore.
This Feature is a product of Banjaiga & powered by Gobis Paints, Marblelinks, Class Wood Craft & Architects World.
media coverage by Rafay Anwar Creative Studio.
An out-of-the-box “retreat”, an experiential amalgam of spaces materiality and tectonics through a desire line expressed by the client, orchestrated by the architects, builders, and fabricators.
The design focuses on maximizing the spatial quality and exploring a synergy of spaces. A reflection of the times we are in, the idea of an integrated living style rendering the formal as obsolete, the house literally has no” Drawing Room” space.
The structure is challenged with elongated cantilevers “concealed” and “upturned” beams an integrated steel and glass curtain wall that creates a forced perspective, and reflections that accentuate the space through virtual visual expansion.
The “agony and ecstasy “of the design process requires a continuous meticulous discourse between the Master fabricator's laborious drawing sets, client-architect approvals, and collaborations, converging the design at its various stages of structure and material joinery.

Extremely impressed with the very spatial experience and visual expanse. The tall ceiling, the Natural Light concept allows Light to define the day. Awesome living is defined by personalized election and selection. A Trend Setting Project for sure. Mubarakbaad to all the Team. Something very nice has happened with this Project. Aweome.

The only house in Pakistan i like. Designers know what they are doing, instead of slapping fancy elements randomly here and there. Love it. I wish to have a house like this one day inshaAllah. The owner has a very good taste from my likings.

The best thing, that allows designers to think creatively, is for clients to demand less bedrooms. Only then space is left for architectural creativity. Otherwise, majority in Pakistan are so fixated with number of bedrooms that people demand 6 bedrooms in 10 marla houses.
A family acquaintance of ours built 1 kanal house with 7 bedrooms and even then, they were complaining why the society didn't allow them to build basement else they would've gone for 8 bedrooms. Direct hotel hi bana lo na. Outcome of having half a dozen children is that you compromise on quality of life.

functionality vs aesthetics is the biggest issue ... all these open spaces cannot be used for majority of the year bcz of Lahore weather.
I believe making more bedrooms make sense but drawing and dining separate for guest is def. a waste of space, but it is customary to build it

Very nicely done. Get to see few modern/contemporary designs in Pakistan. Open spaces with 2 story ceilings but I wonder how does it affect the heating and cooling costs. Also getting rid of formal D/D rooms . Wished they would have put the water element in the zen garden. Any way good job.

Looks like the client is inspired by the houses of the rich and famous of US.Its a nice replica of those houses and architects have done an excellent job to replicate their dream house but Pakistani weather can play havoc with these plans.Lot of adjustments and alterations will have to be done when the honey moon period is over. Its very difficult to follow the American stlye of living in a desi land.
