- House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 7 shows young Aemond Targaryen taming the dragaon Vhagar.
Unfortunately this pivotal scene was poorly lit.
Hence, this attempt of re-lighting the scene as if it were shot at dawn
NOTE about high valyrian usage:

Is aemond and vhagar good because I saw scene when vhagar at someone and a dragon.
At that point he deserved her. But he got arrogant. He saw Vhagar as a weapon. Not as a friend or a partner like Laena or Visenya. That's why he never had that kind of bond with her. His confidence then was built in the fact that he could "control" her. But it wasn't true. You can't control a dragon. A dragon is not a slave. Not a weapon. You have to fight together. And that's what Visenya did. That's what Dany did.
@@lisar3592Visenya was a much more vicious and cruel person than Aemond who weaponized Vhagar in the most horrific ways. In fact there are a few hints( though nothing is confirmed) that dragon and rider influence each other's personality and Aemond having a strong bond with a 200 year old war criminal might make him more ruthless.
The cameraman does not get enough credit for riding Vhagar along with Aemond to deliver this amazing scene

This boy was bullied relentlessly for not having a dragon, then chooses the strongest of them all, and Vhagar chooses him as well and the sheer joy makes me smile. Hearing his laugh is so heartwarming. Then he has his eye cut out bc spoiled brats are jealous that he deserved Vhagar more than they ever did or ever will.

The dragons are passed from rider to rider over time, not inheritance. They test them to see if they are good enough to ride
But 1 of the twins ( the one without a dragon) and Vhaegar was Lena's mount who's the girls mother and Aemond did steal Vhaegar in the night. Vhaegar only let Aemond on because he sniffed that Valiryan blood ( like Drogon did with Jon) but he would never let Jon ride him because he killed his Mother. I still remember the look of disgust he gave Jon after he melted the Iron Throne and I'm certain that he took Dany 2 Volantis.

This dragonriding scene was the easiest to believe in my opinion. If I rode a dragon, I'd be screaming my head off, even if I got used to it.
The acene had a very adventure like feeling to it, it was great!
I like how you can see Vhagar's thought process. At first she is like "don't touch me you little shit", then when he starts talking to her she realizes he has balls and allows him up. Then she flies rough to test him and he passes, at which point he has earned her respect.

I think the whole thing was a test on Vhagar's part. letting him climb on then initially trying to shake him off rising and diving seeing if he truly had what it takes. if he fell off and died then he wouldn't be worthy.

I think dragons truly love their riders. With Vhagar, I think she preferred younger riders because they made her feel like she did in her prime when Queen Visenya was her rider. Both Laena and Aemond were very young when they claimed her, and Aemond more so than Laena really brought out Vhagars potential. She’s not called the Queen of Destruction for nothing. I think she appreciated Aemonds guts and “fuck you Aegon im gonna ride the biggest dragon alive” attitude.

It is but it was a huge mistake by daemon. Vahgar should've never been left unguarded. It was a insult to his dead wife for another rider to claim her dragon as her funeral was taking place. Leaving the most powerful dragon unguarded was a mistake with long reaching repercussions.

@DarcXTiger93 it can look different on different TVs because TVs have multiple settings and picture modes. 90% of people don’t use the accurate picture modes like Movie/expert and then complain they can’t see anything. Movie and TV shows have all kinds of standards for SDR/HDR, colour gamuts etc. and it’s not the hotd production’s fault TV manufacturers sell TVs with dumb settings and inaccurate default picture modes (standard). Also if people are watching low bitrate SDR streams, night scenes like this will heavily challenge the compression and artifacts will be all over the place, making things hard to see too.
Just because you can see more doesn’t mean it looks good. This just looks overly lit and weird. Black levels are raised so much that now the scene just looks like some monochromatic mess.
I had to turn my lighting up all the way on my phone. I guess they were filming in battery saving mode.

Yes, Aegon conquered Westeros but he was the only one to have dragons then and no one on the continent had ever faced a dragon. 130 years later, dragons are relatively familiar to Westerosi and Dorne has proven they aren't invincible. Yes, Sunfyre and Tessarion are young but they are dragons (they quickly prove themselves during the Dance) and cannot be overlooked. Dreamfyre is an old and mighty dragon.

I think the secret to claiming her was to climb her when she was watching.
When he tried to climb the second time she's not watching she gets so angry she was gonna kill him but then gave him another chance to prove his worth and do it while she looks directly at him. And he has proven he's a worthy rider, because he's fearless and mounts her despite her staring him down.
It takes balls to tame a beast that is watching you closely as you do it.

Makes it impressive in hindsight just what Daenerys accomplished with Drogon when you compare him to this mighty beast of a dragon. Drogon was big in the show but here you realise that he was barely out of adolescence and still had a lot of growing to do.
Daenerys is the only Targ who managed to control three dragons at once. She literally was the rider of three dragons and could unleash them all at once. Not to mention that she had no training or any knowledge about how to bond with a dragon. She did it all by herself. She is the true legend.
Plus she rode without a saddle might we add !!!
@@miahsjamal Likely because her dragons were much smaller and could be ridden without saddles, she also didn't know anyone who could make dragon saddles. The targaryens had professional dragon saddle makers.

She raised them all and had a special bond with them all(and knew the Valyrian commands to command them) but Rhaegal and Viserion only followed her and their brother. Humans can only bond with one dragon at once and vice versa. There's a reason they only showed her true bond with Drogon(ie. him knowing when she was in danger and coming to her aid and always being the most "tame" and obedient one with her while the others were always seen on the sidelines just kinda following the show). She could unleash Viserion and Rhaegal because she raised them , but they did not have the same dragon/rider bond she and Drogon had. There's a reason Jon was able to claim Rhaegal
After watching this video I'm starting to think that Vhagar is like one of those grumpy old grandmas you should never ever piss off but is also a grandparent who loves her grandchildren. 😅

I like how you can actually see Vhagar show a little emotion despite her being a CGI dragon. First she’s annoyed at being woken up, then she’s pissed that someone is trying to ride her, then she shows a bit of respect to Aemond’s knowledge and then finally tests him to see if he’s worth of her before accepting him as her rider.

@@michska53 Dude, everyone has their own opinions, it doesn't hurt to show a little bit of respect for different views. Besides, it has been made very clear, both in House of the Dragon and GOT, and also the books, that dragons are highly inteligent creatures, almost second only to humans themselves. Facial expression isn't the same. Just compare this scene to the one when she kills Laena, for example. Most animals have different facial expressions for different feelings (when they're happy, afraid, angry, depressed, in pain, etc).

I love that Vhagar runs before taking flight, it shows her age and the difficulty with which she takes to the skies but once she does she's unstoppable. I hope we see more of Vhagar taking off and landing.
