The medal seen around Norrington’s neck in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl is the Most Honourable Order of the Bath Knight Companion medal.

I may be wrong, but you seem to have omitted reference to there being both military and civil divisions of the Order of the Bath and the Order of the British Empire, with slightly differing insignia.Well done, though, for mentioning some of the more rare and dormant ones

Thank you, Peter, for your great and informative comment as well as feedback! Yes, you are right. - The introductory scope of this short video was a conscious choice of mine. Always happy when fellow CZcamsrs contribute so beautifully.

My grandfather Ole Earl Sir Algood Stickapopple was awarded the Order of the Boot when he dropped his paw on a rather fetching lass from the highlands, at a lively dinner at the Palace, yes indeed ! He was shown the side door with a cutlass prodding his arse, banished to West Offaly to where we now reside at Pickapopple Hall surrounded by savages, the ignominy never leaves one !!!

Having grown up in the UK under a monarchy I now live overseas in a republic.
      What is the difference?
      Nothing..
My life is in no way better or worse living in a republic, the wealthy minority elite still f**k us over..
Oh and the President isn’t directly elected by the people either. The President is appointed by the government.

Doesn't the UK gov actually function as a republic for the most part already. For that reason, one wonders if the aristocratic class and nobility provides a reasonable layer to governance. Perhaps it's greatest value is as a cultural and heritage asset. And ironically, it is Westminster that has made it exactly as it is today, a limited influence of more or less any use.
