    A few minor quirks but overall this is the most accessible TSPROF sharpener to date and it does NOT spare quality or key features. I like it. What do you think?

    • @davestelling
      @davestelling Před 11 měsíci

      I hear all the time about the price, but - we get what we pay for and if you want quality, TSPROF is the bottom line.
      I'm learning w/ the KO-3model, and am so impressed with the overall design & construction. Very nice tool and a pleasure to use...

      Question: so the major differences with Kadet Pro is the angle adjustment system and lighter stand, but the sharpening quality is the same? I only care about the sharpening result.

    Honest point by point review. Can't ask for more than that. Yes, not having a carrying case and especially an angle finder is a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the review.

  • @cameratool

    The stone clamp should index on the abrasive face not the back, that way you don’t have fiddle with angle if one of your stones is a different thickness.

    I have the K03 and the Blitz 360 Pro. Looking at the Pioneer it seems that the gap in the center of the rail the clamps slide on is too wide.
    This limits how close together the clamps can be moved. The "set screw" used to adjust the angle is also lame.
    That said for the price of $300 looks good.

    Are these style of sharpeners worth getting if im already fair at freehand whetstone sharpening? The jig for constant angle support and blade holder scream consistency. I use 400-1000 and 3000-8000 grit to leather strop, i can sharpen my knifes good enough but i think it's a skill issue for my own stones on my part

      prob not unless you just like cool stuff

  • @Runoratsu
    @Runoratsu Před 11 měsíci +1

    What I always wonder about with these style sharpeners: Does the angle not change along the blade? The stone is fixed in a static point around which it rotates. But the edge of the blade does not form a perfect circle around that point. So the further away from that center point a point on the edge is, the shallower the angle will be, right…?

    • @GreenBeetle
      @GreenBeetle  Před 11 měsíci +1

      that's what intuition says but it's not actually the case. go look at my axi cube one review where I slide the arm across the blade with the angle finder in place, angle doesn't change.

    • @Runoratsu
      @Runoratsu Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@GreenBeetle Not _just_ intuition, maths / geometry too, but maybe the change is so small that the angle finder can‘t pick it up (and then it probably won‘t matter for the knife either).

    If you are on the fence about buying a TSProf sharpener - DO IT. I have the kadet pro and its incredible

    • @Platoface
      @Platoface Před 7 měsíci

      I concur. I just got mine today. It is sweet. I have sharpening stones of all types I started with then I bought a Tormek 800. Pffft… yes, the Tormek makes quick work of sharpening but there is a lot of fiddling plus the water and it’s in my garage. The Kadet Pro erpT Beats both them hands down. I bought on Black Friday for about 30% off MSRP. I sharpened two kitchen knives, just finished in fact, and they are scary sharp. Scary sharp.

    Would you agree this is a better sharpener than the Hapstone R2?

    • @GreenBeetle
      @GreenBeetle  Před 6 měsíci

      I think it’s personal preference they both have pros and cons. Because of its aesthetics I prefer the tsprof but functionally the Hapstone is just as capable. Its magnetic ball sharpening arm is brilliant. The arm garage on the pioneer is a bit flaky.

    since the product being reviewed is of Russian origin i feel it leaves a sour taste due to the state of the horrific conflict. i'm sorry if this comment is out of place. delete it if you have to.

    • @GreenBeetle
      @GreenBeetle  Před 11 měsíci +10

      I don’t mind. Putin is a deranged war criminal committing genocide in Ukraine. I think it often has little to do w the Russian people who have no free press or legitimate elections and will spend the next few years sacrificing their sons, brothers and fathers in a war they know little to no truth about for the promise of financial stability for their families for the first time in their lives in the form of active duty combat pay. That is my opinion. I don’t know how TSPROF feels about all of this and I don’t expect they can offer their views regardless of what they may be. They make damn good sharpeners though. And likely enough they pray for peace like everyone else.

      @@GreenBeetle i do indeed think they make a neat product and i like them i enjoyed your other reviews and even considered buying a kit then.
      It's just that even if they can't control their government the money they earn do in some way support the economy even if its a small part.
      We here in Sweden have a chocolate company named Marabou and they are even on a Ukrainian blacklist because they are owned by another company that do business in Russia. i would still buy the chocolate and you should still buy and enjoy the sharpener.

      You know, guys, they sent a mission to the Moon and I was crossing my fingers for it. Not because of the country and Putin, but because of all the science it would've made and all the engineers working on it.
      And Putin already put 3 scientists (or engineers, I don't remember) in jail for treason... Because of the rockets that should've been hypersonic.

      @GreenBeetle unfortunately it isn't like that, there are too many russians that are pro war and worst than putin. A lot of them are being brainwashed for 25 years, but others didn't even needed to be brainwashed, they were like this already. Russians have access to free media, they can search for news that don't come from cremlin controlled media, also vpn are being downloaded a lot. Buying russian made products now is just financing the war, unfortunately it is like this until this war is over, any russian that don't want this must leave the country, a lot of them already did it. Sorry for the long comment (however i love your videos)
