    My lunch box for school in the 70s was just a tupperware box very fashionable back then. My mum used to have tupperware parties

    I hope you are doing well and I had a Gi joe lunch box and other 80s cartoons. They were great. Loved the video. Have a great day and I’m hanging in there.

    Man, I had that exact Garfield box in your intro in the late 80’s. Also pretty sure I had the Alf one too, and at least one other Garfield one at some point. A couple other older metal ones I remember friends having that I liked, were the ones from The Goonies, and from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. My mom was always really good at packing my box. One thing I always remember inside was a juice box. You know, the kind with a small bendy plastic straw stuck to the side, that you poked through a small foil on top. My drinks were usually either Hi-C or Juicy Juice. Of course I loved Ecto Cooler. Snack Pack pudding was also a staple, those little mini breadsticks with cheese in a container with a tear-away top, and a good ol’ PB&J sandwich. I used to love how your lunchbox was kind of your own personal statement of “you”. Even if in the 80’s that statement was just a single big sticker on one side of a plastic box.

    Finally finding this episode! I was a 70s/80s kid so I had a few over the years with Charlie’s Angels being my favorite and Kid Power being the most perplexing…it must have been a show because as I typed this a theme song is gong through my head.

    I did not eat school lunch one single time from about 3rd grade until 9th I believe, always bringing a packed lunch. I looked forward to the new lunch box for each school year. Mine were always plastic but I don’t remember any of them and then in 6th grade, I found a soft insulated Chicago Bears bag- I think at Goodwill. This was really before those soft type of lunch bags were a thing so I’d never seen something like that and it was even better because I was into the Bears at the time. I think I used it all through middle school. In high school I continued to bring a lunch much of the time and by then I had several of the lunch bags and eventually just took a brown bag. As a side note my mother always packed my lunch even to 12th grade. She’d put little notes and make mustard smiley faces on sandwiches. And! I always loved the brown rye chips in the Gardettos mix. You can buy a bag of nothing but those rye chips now. But back then, my mother would hand pick them and fill up a baggie for my lunch!

    I had the tin transformers and he man ones. Oh I wish still did. They are works of art.
    I would probably use it for lunch now cause I'm old enough not to care what people think anymore.

    Nice collection! I wouldn't mind having the Labyrinth or Planet of the Apes (1st choice!). I have an 80s lunchbox I got from a client when I was in college... I was working on their property and came across it in the garage. I asked them about it and they offered it to take home... and ORIGINAL great condition Roger Rabbit lunchbox and thermos. I still have it to this day and really enjoy every time I walk past it.

    I had a generic race car lunch box but it came with little magnetic cars and a spinner and on the back was a race track that you could move the cars along depending on what number you spun.

    I distinctly remember my brother and I (and maybe our dad) having several lunchboxes in the late 80s and 90s, such as: Garfield, Super Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog, and Tales from the Crypt. I don't think I ever used one for lunch, though!

    I had that Incredible Hulk lunchbox. I used it primarily in K thru 2nd grades. Sometime in the 90s my mom threw it out, but I recently bought another one just like it, but in better condition and with the thermos!

    When I was a kid we only had the crummy plastic lunchboxes. I always wanted a metal one, but they disappeared from the market. I was told that the metal boxes were discontinued because kids were using them as weapons (bludgeoning each other in the cafeterias). I don't know if that rumor was even remotely true, but it's funny to think about. :)

    • @NerdOutWithMe
      @NerdOutWithMe  Před rokem +1

      It was true, I remember seeing a news story about it on tv , it showed the parents talking about it, and if I remember correctly, they announced that lunch boxes were going to be made out of plastic, and no longer going to be made out of metal

    Awesome episode! If I remember correctly i had a 60s batman show lunchbox, and probably a superman one too. I need to ask my mom if she has any pictures. That Lance Link should be Lancelot Link secret chimp. It was a show that exploited chimpanzees, making them perform, wear clothes, smoke cigarettes, etc. Lancelot worked for APE (Agency to Prevent Evi) Their nemesis was CHUMP (Criminal Headquarters for Underworld Master Plan.) Basically it was Get Smart with chimps. Lancelot's girl friend was Mata Hairi. :D

    "Lunchboxes aren't cool to bring to school". What the hell do they expect, to pack their lunch in their iPhone?

    • @TheStuffandthings
      @TheStuffandthings Před rokem +1

      Exactly! Besides who cares if it’s cool or not. If you like it I say use it anyway. The only one I really remember was a soft insulated Chicago bears lunch box that I believe was found at a flea market or yard sale. But I do remember what a scam those thermoses were. 3 sips and it was empty! I took lunch to school probably 95% of my schooling and my mother packed it for me even in high school.
