Good thing you have McGuiver Doug! Way to be prepared! So glad you have someone close by that can rebuild that motor.
Fingers crossed!
Doug and Katy, you are very hard working couple. Truly inspiring ❤
Thank you so much!
Amazing setup...thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Condensate line will always freeze with a trickle of condensate. The way to fix is use a reservoir pump combo tor the condensate. This way the condensate goes out in slugs and then allows line to dry between pump sessions. I know it is more complication but i have found it is the only way to prevent freezing. Hope this helps!
Thank you. Will look into this. We have to do something
We’re dealing with several heating related problems too this year. Almost ran out of propane yesterday as well and trucks weren’t running due to ice on the roads. If it wasn’t for our long standing relationship with the lady that runs dispatch and their offices we would have been in a bad way.
I just bought a mobile 200k btu heating system and enough tanks to run the heaters in the case of an emergency. I can’t afford not to have something like this again.
Taking care of that wood burner must remind you of babies. Up every few hours.
Hope you are able to get some rest!
Take care my friends
Chuck and Darlene
Still without gas. They say the motor should be done by the end of the week. We are still hanging in but the tomatoes are not happy and pepper -cumber production is way down. Need some heat!
We are good thou.... if it was easy everyone would do it...right?
@@HomegrownPassion very true! Keep on keeping on my friends!
Katy, you are so blessed to have your own natural gas source on site. I'm sure that really makes winter indoor gardening on your scale possible. You are also blessed to have Doug and the skills he possesses. if you ever do have to replace the oil well motor completely, there is a good bit of value in the copper windings inside that case. Just something to be aware of as it will never be "trash", even if not repairable.
Thanks I will keep that in mind.
Your greenhouse is amazing!
Thank you!
excellent video Katy, very well explained.
thank you!!!
loved seeing Doug as cameraman in the reflection on the glass door.
lots of hats to wear and Doug wears them all well
HAHA I did laugh when I saw him in the window wearing that stupid hat... LOL
Great update and explaining the redundancy ( self sufficiency ) needed in your country life and your greenhouse business. Doug has sure made all the moving parts dance beautifully together. That monitoring system is brilliant !!! What a great team :) You always are patient in your videos , explaining the parts, home made pieces and weekly maintenance required to keep the growing house happy. I wonder how many of the co-op food buyers are watchers and subscribers to your channel ? I noticed a generac panel on the right side , future video content ? 40 years on one motor , bad weather timing but a pretty good ROI. It is always something , living the country life :) Happiness by design . Hard work and great quality food for health . Natures gifts from your land and greenhouse. I hope that other folks across the nation will understand the opportunity of your crop king growing system , to feed local communities year round. I appreciate your weekly posts , family values and everything you and doug do to bring others along .
thank you so much for the nice comment...means a lot thank you. Generac... Sure I think I have some footage of Doug installing everything.
Katy and Doug, you may want to source a backup motor for the gas harvesting. As long as you have the information off the name plate of the existing motor you should be able to find a good backup. Even though you only have single phase this doesn't stop you from having a three phase motor using an inverter. I run my 3 phase vent motors in one greenhouse off from inverters. In one business where we generated our own 3 phase power, during business. I relied on single phase to run our kiln fans at those times using inverters.
The one place lacking any backup is at your gas well. Thank you for the update.
We will definitely look into this. The phase invertor sounds like the way to go, and we can find new 10hp motors (3 phase) all over the place... so i think you are right. It now makes sense why the manufactures stopped producing these low volt motors years ago. Was wondering why but this is the answer, I think. 3 phase invertors. Only makes sense. Thank you so much for your comment. Really helped and put us on the right path to get this worked out.

What do you do when it snows and the roof of the greenhouse? Does it just normally fall off on its own or are you shoveling?
Yes, not a lot of R value so it melts off pretty quick and if the sun comes out it really heats up.
Impressive setup. Where is this?
Ohio
What nutrient recipe use
Based off our source water. All bulk nutrients that we mix per recipe.
