  • The Piper Navajo is a workhorse in the world of piston twins, and Mike Jones Aircraft in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has a rather thorough refurb program called the Lock & Key Navajo. Aviation Consumer's Larry Anglisano took a close look at one of the latest Lock & Key refurbs at SUN 'n FUN 2022 in Lakeland, Florida.

Counter rotating props and a crew door should be a must do

I love this, I cant even imagine how much it cost to do that to a plane, rich man targeted program. Holy cow you are just up the road from me here in Huntsville!!!! Man I need to come visit!

When he's talking about strakes, the video is showing what looks like stall fences.

That Navajo is the way to go now that the 400 series Cessna's have that spar AD, due to the history of spar cracks on those.

The spar inspection takes a couple hours it’s not a big deal. And if you go with 2 planes they’ll give you a discount

@@TomCook1993 That's good, as long as no cracks are found. Then I hear it's like a $70K repair.

Beautiful aircraft, only thing missing is the crew door mod to be a true Bahamas station wagon. I have plenty time in Panther's both with the crew door and without and believe me without it its a pain.

The 350 hp engine was standard with the Piper Chieftain, if they really wanted to improve the aircraft they would go with the new Lycoming 580 engine and something North of 350 HP and above that they would covert the Navajo to turbine power like the Piper 1040, which Schafer Aviation in Waco TX did back in the 80's and that makes the aircraft a real Hot Rod. but please don't talk about 350HP like its something that's completely new, the Chieftain has always been there.

Look at the price of a new 172/182 if you think this airplane is expensive. Yes, this is a millionairs game!! I'll just be happy with a clean, low time 150, or a Cub!!
