  • Italian Sesame Seed Cookies Recipe | Biscotti Reginelle
    Recipe:
    250 g all-purpose flour (1 cup + 1/2 cup+ 3 tbsps)
    90 g sugar (1/2 cup)
    1 egg
    40 g milk (3 tbsps)
    80 g butter (1/4 cup + 2 tbsp)
    8 g baking powder (2 tsp)
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    orange or lemon zest
    sesame seeds
    *For guaranteed results, it is strongly suggested to use grams as the unit of measurement.

    My parents moved to Canada in 1949, and brought with them, many authentic biscotti from Palermo... simple, crunchy, and delicious! Thank you for reminding me of these treasures!

    Thanks a lot for this video. I made these cookies and they turned out to be wonderful. I did some changes though. No Tahini, no mixing the butter with hands. Wet ingredients in the machine, added to dry ingredients , added a tea spoon of orange zest to the dough, left in the fridge for one hour, cut the dough to suitable pieces and in the oven for 15 minutes and again 15 minutes. They taste fantastic and thanks to you.

    I loved these cookies as a child, when I visited my Sicilian grandmother. This week, in her honor, I will try your recipe. I do remember them as a bit darker. Have you ever tried toasting the sesame seeds first? I love that you did it all by hand.

    I WAS WONDERING HOW THEY WERE GOING TO BE CRUNCHY SINCE MOST RECIPES USE CRISCO SHORTENING INSTEAD OF BUTTER. TWICE BAKED...PERFECT. I WOULD LIKE TO TOAST THE SESAME SEEDS A LITTLE FIRST, ROLL IN WATER, AND ROLL IN SEEDS. THUMBS UP!!!

    Great recipe... Nails the Regina cookie! Don't have to change a thing... If you've never tried baking Regina cookies.. this is the recipe and method to start with and to stick with... 👌👌👌

    I substitute olive oil for the butter and use fiori di Sicilia extract along with the mandarin/ lemon zest and vanilla extract. The olive oil makes the dough a little more "delicate" to handle but the taste is superb and it's healthier.

    Can I do them with oat flour or any other seed flour?

      Thank you so much for your kind words, Flor. I have never tried making them with oat flour so I am not sure. Yes you could use other seeds if you like. Citrus zest are so nice, I agree.

    Delicious! Note: You said double for a few minutes but you then put back in the oven for 15 minutes. Which one is it? I tried 10 minutes for the second bake and they were very good. Thank you.

    I used the food processor by pulsing on and off for about a minute That worked fine. Kept my hands clean.
