    *Best Cameras for $1000-2000 in Mid 2023* - Great Selection - czcams.com/video/xypbFQr2gCw/video.html
    *Additional notes:* Sony A7 III has 30 min. video recording limited, X-S20 is unlimited. X-S20 is more overheating resistant + you can use external fan connected to the backside of the camera. A7 III is relatively resistant to overheating as well, better than most current gen hybrid FF DSLMs.

Because in a video we saw it overheated in 30 minutes in 6k. in photo it is how many hours please?? I have talked about that in my X-S20 video, it definitely didn't overheat after 30 minutes in my testing. I don't think that if will overheat at all if you only use it for photos, as long as you don't leave it in direct sunlight. If you need to use it in extreme conditions get that external fan.

      Ah aperture equivalence 😁. I agree that it is real, but in a comparison, you should only count for it once. Once you compare a crop sensor with a 1.4 lens to a full frame with a 2.8 lens, your crop sensor isn't shooting on higher iso with more noise anymore. 🤷. If you decided to compromise on image quality, your kit will be smaller. On both ff and crop. But buying ff and then compromising on immage quality makes little sense to me. 🤔

    The X-S20's video features for the price still is mind boggling to me. I paid almost 10 grand for a cinema camera back in 2017, that did not have a lot of the features that the X-S20 now does have for a fraction of that price. It is insane. I own an A7 III for some years now and still recommend it. There may be more modern cameras out there available today, but for this price point it is a great camera to get into full frame. That was the reason I got it in the first place. I wanted the FF look and switched over from Fuji. Fujis are great cameras as well with a very unique look and feel to them which I still like a lot.
    However, I find that the lens selection for Sony still is the most decisive factor for me. You can get cheap or expensive glass, compact lenses, lenses with incredible image quality and so on. There are lenses for every type of shooter and for all prices, too.
    Therefore, I will stick with my A7 III. At some point I will probably switch to a more capable model like the A7 IV, but for now it does everything I want it to do. Since that is the case I will rather invest into good quality glass for now that I can use for many years.

    It is incredible the staying power of the a7 iii. Great battery life, it started the turn around Sony in many ways. I have the a7r ii, and a7ii. Would love an a7 iii. But the a7iii is a tough one to get used. It has held its value really well. Though technically my a7Rii will hold its own. I like the new 100 series battery. I adapt my Sonys to run the less costly Canon EF glass. I buy all used, or open box at the most. I shoot both Canon, and Sony. Some of the selections are emotional too. Silly yes, but I got a used 1DX, and 1D mk.4 and those are my only Canon cameras save for the used Canon C100 Cine Camera I have too. There is a theme here. Used Canon EF glass. All my cameras take them. I snuck in a 35 f2.8 E mount Tamron. Couldn't pass up the deal for a fun street lens. Works great on my a6400 too. Fujifilm is killing it with their fun simulations, I love that, but it isn't in my system. Not a fan of the XT series ergonomics for me anyway. An XS-20 looks fun but can't justify it. I can buy a used Nikon Z5 for less and an all arounder lens but again not in my system. Love your videos, been a fan for a long time.

    i am buying my first camera, been borrowing and renting for some time now, i love the feature set of the fuji , it fulfils all my needs with the photography as i mostly take landscapes, macros ( really getting into product shots ) and not a lot of portraits tbh, the fuji also gives me enough space to growth in terms of videos ( which i would love to do as some promo material ) i really loved the video but it got me more confused tbh specially now that i am thinking about lens selections and the full frame look ( i have been using a z5/z6 ii till now with some zooms and f1.8 primes ) should i just pull the trigger on the fuji or looking into the sony will be a good decision ?

    • @professionalpotato4764
      @professionalpotato4764 Před rokem

      In terms of lenses, well, Sony all the way. There's not necessarily a full frame or even a medium format look. It's just all down to equivalence. You can still get f/2.1 equivalent lenses on Fuji or f/1.4 equiv manual lenses from Laowa. You won't get the f/1.4 or f/1.2 equivalent looks on Fuji. E-mount has more affordable options, and equivalent lenses are almost always cheaper/lighter than APS-C. Just look at Sony 24-70GM2 vs Fuji 16-55 weight. Or Sony 24-105f4 vs Fuji 16-55. Or the new 20-70mm f/4 vs MFT Panasonic Leica 10-25mm f/1.7 (f/3.4 equiv).
      That said, new Fuji primes are very well corrected, and you won't get the same kind of perfect IQ or performance in Sigma/Tamron lenses. So it's a tradeoff. The zooms are a little old and mostly are in need of updates.
      1) Do you want perfect clean shots at a budget? Then Fuji. If you don't mind some chromatic aberrations, slightly softer corners but overall better sharpness/resolution, go Sony FF. Sharpness/resolution is related to lp/mm (lw/ph). Larger sensors almost always has better sharpness even with slightly softer lenses.
      2) Fuji X-T5 does have pixel shift for macro or product shots. Sony only has it in the A7R5. But X-Trans files can be annoying if you don't use C1 (depends on personal tolerance).
      3) Look into Fujifilm rants and Sony rants, especially from people in your area. Things like customer service, accessibility of service centres can be a consideration. Or user experience complains. Lots of people complained about X-H2(S) for 1 year before Fuji did some firmware updates about the ISO button.

    I LOVE your channel! I honestly have watched so man of your videos. Your honesty is wonderful. I want to mention my case here in case anyone else is in the same boat.
    I am a long-time 35mm, medium format and former full frame shooter. I downsized to APS-C a while back and shoot mostly Fuji. I'm looking for a camera to do a few things.
    1. As a second camera for my event work alongside my Fuji XH2s. The XH2s will serve for fast action and video. This camera would hold another lens for low-ish light portraits, though that is only 25% of what I do.
    2. As a lightweight travel camera to do "occasional" wildlife, e.g. trips to nature areas where I often run into large birds or sometimes small song birds. This is only 30-40% of my travel need.
    3. As a street photography camera, which is 70% of my need during travel.
    My Fuji x-t30 ii - I love the IQ, have the lenses but struggle with sun and LCD, evf is a bit cramped but not as cramped as the Sony A7C, which I was considering.I The Fuji x-s20 seems like a baby XH2s (in some aspects only). Very appealing.
    Choices can be overwhelming but ultimately, it must have a good viewfinder and be lightweight because as I turned 50, my eyes are not what they used to be and I have a former hand injury.
    To give you perspective, the Fuji xh2s and the 70-300mm is feasible. Maybe when the sigma comes out I can handle a little more weight but not much more.
    I guess I was leaning toward the Sony system for the size and AF, but I worry that the lenses might be too expensive or heavy and having to invest in new lenses seems daunting.
    Obviously, I already have invested a lot in Fuji but also want a different "look" sometimes. I am torn between full frame "bokelish" and the unique Fuji look with added bonus of small body.
    That’s a long comment to say that I will have the A7iii in my hands this weekend to test and if I cannot get on with it well, the Fuji x-s20 will be next.

If my objective is to decorate my house with prints as large as the resolution allows, would you advise to go for Sony or Fujifilm X-T5 (with the kit lens 18 - 55 F2,8-4)? • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Před rokem +2

      @professionalpotato4764 Před rokem

      Adding on, having more megapixels may not help. Go read up on lens sharpness/resolution. Imatest has some nice documentation.
      Simply put, the physically larger sensor will always result in a sharper print image at the same resolution and lenses of the same lp/mm. (line pairs per mm - often converted to line widths per picture height to compare different sensor formats)
      Following numbers are just for demonstration and not scientifically accurate. Let's say you have a ultra sharp Fuji lens like the 18mm f/1.4 that resolves 91+lp/mm. 91 * 16 = 1456.
      On a FF sensor you would only need a cheap lens resolving about 60lp/mm. Many lenses in the $500 range already exceed this performance.
      Also, skip the 24-70 f4 lens. That's extremely old and underwhelming. Buy body only and a 28-60mm kit lens both used if you can. See if you can get a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 used if possible.

    I appreciate that you call out Fuji iso shenanigans. No one else comments on how Fuji underexposes, this creating a misleading iso. So, when exposure is adjusted, Sony iso performance is actually closer to 1 2/3 stops, which is massive. Considering that, a FF 1.8 will outperform a Fuji 1.2 in low light when comparing the actual results of the image...and a Samyang 1.8 on sony is going to be worlds smaller and up to 4x cheaper than a Fuji 1.2.

    • @TheHybridShooter

      Those are not shenanigans or attempts to mislead, SOS is actually an older ISO scale than REI, Panasonic and Pentax use it as well. It is simply like comparing kilometer and miles.

    In terms of lenses, while Sony has many options there are a few options in the aps-c field that Sony FF can't match from a price and size/weight perspective such as the sigma 18-50 2.8 for Fuji. That lens is half the size of any FF 24-70 type lens and is just as bright amd sharp. If you can afford it i generally recommend a full frame for portraits and work and then Fuji for travel where you have thousands of pictures andqybe you dont want to edit them all and you want something more compact and travel friendly.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Před rokem +2

      That is a common misconception. 18-50 F2.8 is not comparable to full frame 24-70mm F2.8 by any means. It absolutely isn´t as bright as FF F2.8, that has been explained million times over. It also sacrifices wide-end to achieve that size and price.
