(1502) Review: Tipene's Nessie Pro Pick by LawLockTools
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 24. 05. 2019
- In video 1502 I review Tipene's new "Nessie Pro Pick" that is produced bu Law Lock Tools in the UK. This is a multi-purpose tool with a rake on one side and a medium hook on the other, enabling you to use the same pick for both raking and single pin picking. It is VERY fast since you don't have to waste any time looking for picks. I bought mine from: www.lawlocktools.co.uk/index....

Pronounced Tipenny I believe. Yeah, Steve's design works well and is quite popular. đșđ
Very True Don Keep up the great work. âȘNickđ§đœ, CZcamsđ: Lock Pick Nick & Nicholas Aarons.
Yep that's a closer pronunciation than bills. Kinda more like tip-in-knee...
Not an uncommon Maori name here.
Love the lockness impression verry funny thats good made me laughđđđ
Thanks! I was struggling to find some weird way to introduce the tool. đ
@@bosnianbill no it was funny ill have to get a set of them like raking thay look good
I found you through the lock picking lawyer. Great video.
đđ
That was a FANTASTIC pick into!! Thank you!
Nicely demonstrated. Hope you have a great holiday weekend Bill. Keep up the good workđ
Just ordered a set. Thanks for sharing!
Gotta love them picks. Simplistic yet ingenious design.I hope we see more independent pick makers come up with new Ideas đĄ like these.
Seriously great bit of kit. A beautifully versatile tool and extremely well made.
Whow, great picks!
Nice give away
Received these a few days ago. Really impressed with them.
Another excellent video. Those are some nice pics
Lovely looking picks
Great review, those picks look well made
As a pretty new picker I LOVE this profile for some instant gratification. Opens certain locks very quickly indeed.
Man, already have a set. They are freaking nice to use.
Another interesting review - thanks!!
Very nice use of the back of a pick. Great design~
very cool picks great review
Just ordered! Woohoo!
Bill. I have to say thank you. Because of your tutorials, and reviews as to what's good or not. I finally picked my first Ziess Ikon mortise lock. It's been giving me trouble for a while now. What a PITA, now comes the challenge of disassembling it without locking it. (I don't have a key for it) lol. Who knows. Perhaps if I can get my hands on one you may get it as a challenge lock. Haha
I just got a pair. They are very nice. Now centerpiece of my revamped EDC.
very cool tools
I love this pick profile. Law lock tools makes a great feeling handle. I like that the handle is a little longer. Great video.
Taylor Chapman - I was just about to post your exact same comment. Instead, Iâll just give yours a âlikeâ. đ
Those are some quality picks, right there. The price isnât outrageous, either. Especially for a custom-designed pick.
@@Willam_J exactly i love the pick. I ordered it as soon as it was released
These are nice picks, but Iâve found that the steel used is not very strong. Iâve never broken a pick yet and l am not heavy handed, but these picks bend very easily. As Bill said, the thickness varies.
Hope LawLock improves the steel.
I have never seen a lock picking competition but I can imagine that every second saved counts. It is a clever two tools in one design.
Super cool!
Nice picks. I want one. đ
Just ordered them, they look brilliant 2đđ
I've been waiting to get paid to grab a couple of those bad boys. I've been looking forward to trying out some LLT picks.
Wow very nice .đ
Interesting design.
Keep kicking em open
Respect
Another great intro
Found your youtube channel from LPL and have recently started practicing, not very good yet lol but will stick with it. Keep up the good work!!
Check out locknoob , potti314 , Andy mac and the rest of the community to !!! đ there's far too many to mention here but there's tons of amazing locktubers out there you just have to have a bit of a look and the community is fantastic so helpful and kind . So good luck and welcome đđđ»đđđ»đđ
DaveyBoy1540 - Iâve only seriously started picking a few months ago. Iâm also not an expert yet, but Iâm getting better, every day. The best part about learning picking, is that the learning curve is exponential. Today, youâll pick one lock. Tomorrow, youâll pick two locks. The next day, youâll pick four locks, and so on. Iâve been keeping an eye out, at garage sales and flea markets, for old and new locks. If the price is right, I buy as many as I can. Even if you already have a specific lock, itâs worth getting another, because it might have tougher bitting, making it harder to pick. Another good thing to look for, is warded keys. It doesnât matter what the bitting is, because you can remove the unnecessary parts of the bitting and make warded lock picks. Warded keys tend to be plentiful and cheap, which makes finding them, even better. đ
Iâm sure you know, already, but be aware of your local laws. If you keep your picking activities at home, you wonât have any problems. Before carrying picks, or using them away from your home, make sure that you are obeying the law. Here, in Illinois, itâs not illegal to have lock picks, unless youâre in possession of them, while committing a burglary or trespassing on someoneâs property. Bump keys, however, are strictly prohibited. Either way, I wouldnât want to have to convince a police officer, that people actually pick locks as a hobby. đź
Anyway.... Good luck with your lock-picking! Iâm having a lot of fun with it, as well. đ
I have seen Nessie!! INCREDIBLY best evidence YET!! If we could get it in the naughty bucket.
how many different intros has there been on the channel? impressive and very well done and good looking intros you have on your vids Mr Bill
Now I really like those, a very smart design. Now there's supposed to be three thicknesses. I really would like that pinning tray as well, more than the picks & that's saying a lot, thanks Bill.
Better than any ad, just placed an order for a pair of them :)
Just got a set, looking forward to try them out! Looks like great stuff!
awsome tool
Great design on those picks.
I wonder what kind of locks they would struggle with?
Another fantastic review from Bill.
Nice picking Bill, those would be great for an EDC kit, get your hook and rake all in one. And I can't think of a better Nessie impression! Multi-talented Bill!
@@RM-nj3dz Thank you for straightening us wannabes and hobbyists out, you are quite the impressive person, I want to be like you when I grow up. Luckily, my state is supportive of us wannabes, and doesn't have such restrictions on lock picks. Sorry to have offended you and the other REAL locksmiths. Oh, and congrats on your certification!
Thanks
These look so pretty. You put the germ in me and after all this time i watch your videos i ordered my first cutaway lock. Excellent video as always
love you bill
He does good work (for a Kiwi :P)
Thanks Ben, I think đđ
Me likey great review
Very interesting design for those lock picks. You must have at least 20 different intros.
Nice
thanks for also telling in mm
Well thanks to you and your videos I am now hooked on getting locks open. Super new to it but slowly getting better.
Sweet giveaway just entered best of luck to everyone
Bill sent me the third lock in a trade. What is weird is bill gets that false set. I slid in a rake one time and didn't even pull it out and it opened.
Dude, i didn't expect to see those locks on your chan. When i was young, those were everywhere. Picked some of those with the weirdest kind of tool you could think of when i was a kid: A jackknife-style kind of fingernail care set for ladies đ€Ł.
So for me the locks on the thumbnail of this vid were some sort of clickbait i guess đ
FYI Tipene is pronounced tip-eeney. Maori form of the name 'Stephen' I believe
@ Doug Fraser
Hey I'm kiwi Maori as well, didn't know others were into lock picking.
Kia ora Doug đ
As always, a great review.
That last key was cut down to fit, because it's longer than the others, so that "low cut" was not meant for a wafer.
Damn, those are some certainly impressive picks, designed by a fellow kiwi nonetheless!
Lockness monster đ€
i want it
Looks alot like Sparrow's Medusa to me.
Ash ( locknoob) worked with tipenne to make the prototype of media then sparrows w9rked with ash to make it commercially available for the public đđ»
What phri said đ If you lay them side by side you will see their differences. Shank height is shallower, a finer Pick Tip with extra reach etc. This is not a replacement for the Boomslang / Medusa it's just another option (as all the Picks in our cases are).
I know you are a very experienced lock picker, but I wonder about your comments about where these locks were used. Did the seller say what timeframe they are from? They seem to be pretty old and just because they were in a jail doesnât mean they need to be high security, especially if the lock is 100 years old. Locks are also needed on doors to low risk areas that are monitored by guards, their purpose is to give the guards time to respond to an attempted access. Also, although weâve had pin tumblers in the US for about a century, that doesnât mean East Germany had access to the technology for that long.
That tray is better than those picks đđ§đŠ
It does cost about twice the picks.
đ me like.
east german here.. this locks are the cheap standard east german lock.. if i remeber correct there was at least oneother more expensiv mybe better type.. should have some of them here too
Anyone else notice the polterlocks?
Bosnianbill Very Nice Video, Picks & Picking Bill. Keep up the great work. âȘNickđ§đœ, CZcamsđ: Lock Pick Nick & Nicholas Aarons.
This looks very similar to a few picks @writemeoff made
Most Pick Makers are always trying things out. The problem is most of us are working away in our workshops completely unaware what others are doing. I posted my first Nessie prototype on the 3 Feb this year (see FB group Locksport (Lockpicking and Smithing))
Edit: just figured out @writemeoff is Scott Barrett from Rare Elements Lock Picks. Undoubtedly one of the most innovative Pick Makers I've seen.
Tipene Nga Puhi right on, I'm sure no foul intended, the pick I was thinking of was the Marianas hybrid from May of last year.
After much searching (I'm not on Instagram) I found a picture of Scott's Hybrid Pick. As you say, I can see the similarities. If Scott also has a similar design I'm confident we both have a good one đ. The man has a great head for Pick profiles design.
The Nessie evolved out of the work I originally did with Lock Noob on the Medusa (Boomslang). I wanted to modify it to make it more suitable for the Lockwood Locks with C4 keyways that are so prevalent in Australia and New Zealand (where I live). I started out just trying to slim down the Medusa profile to give it better access to keyways. I extended the tip to give it better reach and I thought I'd modify the snake rake side to give it an extra frequency (hump), to give both raking and rocking options. The Nessie was the result.
Thanks again for pointing me to Scott's works. I might need to sign up to Instagram đ
Tipene's
Tipene contacted me in another video about these. I need them in my collection. Nice picks.
