    I like this set, it definitely has potential. I need a leather case like that for my picks, wondering if they would just sell the case? Great review bill and I definitely agree, this would be an amazing starter set. Covers everything you would need to get a very good start at lock picking.

      @EnzoGuardino Před 6 lety +1

      Kennedy's Locksport Yes, they sell just the case for about €26 + shipping (link below). They also have listed Southord 74 leather case and Sparrows Sherman case but unfortunately, both out-of-stock.

    As a beginner I'm wondering if these sets are a must? Most pickers I see use hooks, bogota/worm and/or cityrakes. Wouldn't it be better to just buy a few (in case you break some you have spares) of the most used designs and an assortment of tensioners?

    If, for any reason, one of the sandwiched handle sides will fall off, you'll recognize that even on the inside of each the model number is engraved! Makes it easier to reassamble the matching parts ... yeah, you still could call germany with the serial number to identify ... but that's more likely a "german backup to the backup plan".

    For a eu country to make picks that are too thick to fit in the tighter eu locks is kinda silly lol . But guess they fit in a few more american locks . Multi pick products look nice but we actually use them not buy to look at or displaying purposes . for picking kinda need thinner and more practical size. Ok rant over i think its up to us to speek our minds if we dont tell these companies who the hell else will . They look pritty though go nice with the wifes cutlery

      Both companies make excellent tools from durable stainless steel. It comes down to 2 things: where do you live (so you can possibly save some cash on shipping), and do you like plain handles or sandwiched handles? In my kit I have picks from BOTH companies and like them both.

    • @AveragePicker
      @AveragePicker Před 6 lety

      Personally I think it’s good to learn one pick really well, then as you discover it’s limitations to move on as needed. But different picks do behave subtly differently, so it’s not really surprising to have some issues. (and some picks aren’t that ideal for a lock and simply are harder to pick one with) What you are running into is perfectly normal learning.

      Jay H, You can keep beating me up on this, but I'm truly at a loss here. Nothing changed between video 1239 and 1240. Same camera, mic, software, etc. I'm recording these in my garage, not a soundproof booth, so sound does leak in from outside. Sounds of passing cars, helicopters, airplanes, birds, kids, barking dogs, trash trucks, etc. are pretty common in my neighborhood. In the past 2 months I've taken extraordinary effort to quieten things down - I'm thinking of doing a short video to show everyone. Specifically:
      1. Replaced 14 fluorescent shop lights with noisy ballasts with silent LED lights.2. Had sound-deadening insulation injected into the garage walls.3. Had 20 more inches of insulation installed into the attic.4. Lined the inside walls and ceiling with an air-filled reflective barrier.5. Installed 4" of insulation on my garage doors.6. Bought 4 different microphones, hoping that would solve it.6a. Installed a Stedman pop and Hiss filter on the mic.7. Experimented with different filtering recommendations in Audacity.8. Replaced the microphone cabling and shielded it.9. Installed a shock isolation mount onto the microphone.10. Mounted the microphone ABOVE the bench instead of ON it to reduce vibration.11. Rearranged the shop layout to put the laptop (and its fan) about 12' from where I am recording.12. Installed a baffle around the laptop.13. Installed 180 square feet of acoustic foam tiles around workbench.
      I honestly believe the sound is better than it WAS, but don't think it will ever be perfect while recording in the garage. I live near I-95, about a mile away, and when the wind is right you can hear the traffic. The biggest hospital in N. Virginia is a mile away, and has a constant flow of helicopter traffic. This near National and Dulles Airports, the occasional jet flies over, depending on the wind direction. On top of all that, my neighbor has a dog that barks almost constantly. At least ONE of them always decides to mow, weed whack, chop wood, or use a backpack blower every time I try to record a video. Also, there are FIVE different trash companies serving my neighborhood - ALL of them with different, and mostly random schedules.
      On top of all that, I have no control over how YT processes and compresses my videos. For all I know, the artifacts are introduced when that happens.
      I'm doing the best I can, honest.
      bill
