    It's high time such panel discussions on AI also include a robot that is powered by AI and fed with all the data, talks and panel discussions in recorded history so we could have a machine perspective too.

    I gave the purple-haired woman the benefit of the doubt. She doesn't have to be a SJW just because of her appearance. But the moment she chose to use the expression *"check your privilege",* I could easily conclude where she was coming from. She even paused slightly before saying it, showing that she's completely aware of why her choice of words is a problem.

    The moment someone on the panel says humans are biased by selective memory, that supports their world view, that person/s have to be ready for their own understanding to be contradicted by AI. That implies that AI can have a superior world view but AI at present is trained on human knowledge.

    There is not such thing as "artificial intelligence." There is only software which performs sophisticated statistics.

      Exactly. But people, who are not able to be persons of faith will swallow every kind of shit, as long as someone has written the word "science" on it. Which makes science their god on the other hand. But they do not even understand this.

    • @mkwarlock
      @mkwarlock Před 5 lety

      Yeah, but your brain operates the same way - on "software which performs sophisticated statistics"... There isn't any intrinsic quality that distinguishes an organic brain from the rest of the universe, it abides by the same laws of physics, and therefore computation is universal, i.e. given enough time, there can be a technology that does the same computation as the organic brain, on a different medium.

      @@mkwarlock ok . I ´m a classical naysayer . There you go : Imagine yourself opposing a roman scholar or great caesar himself , simply bringing up such a term like software -
      and yet , at this time saw blood and bones shattered , but yet they didn ´t know that much about the brain , let ´s say . " software " , probably somewhat there was a equivalent , in aristoteles theories or beliefs for example , but then in the most basic sense the thing that would be closest to " software " would be cave drawings for example , rules that were written on papyrus scrolls . see , a naked ssd will probably not do a simple thing if you cannot put a system on it , no system on that ssd - no software (...) -
      Yeah , you could say that ore and metal , any of this belongs to nature , as well - but still you wouldn ´ t like to digest a axe or feed on little triangles made out of silver or steel .
      The main thing , I get it , is to simply change each and every aspect so in the end it all makes sense , but not for those who would ´ve been happy enough with what this place
      basically is , or : as long as it is . Progress happens , no one here invented it - it has become comprehensable to some certain degree , so - howling " future " ´til the very end?

We are this shift. Our compassion will be reflected in our new technologies and our love for one another will continue to shape how we influence the world and how the world is influenced by us via a means of our technologies.

    Humans' era will be over soon, guys, sorry, we are not the winners in the evolution, we are just a link as all other living creatures before us. We are creating AI, and the main problem is that we c a n n o t NOT to create it. This, unfortunately, has its roots in our INSTINCTs, in our genes and our understanding of our evolution (e.g. Darvin theory). Millions of programmers: a) want to become programmers as they need job - this is an instinct: b) They are working for those who create some superior products and we appreciate this as we cannot act otherwise. Making AI conscious -=is e a s y, we are just few steps from this: the consciousness is nothing else but the mechanism of caparison of what you see before you (modern ai is already very good a seeing, hearing, feeling?) with what we already have in our databases (e.g., the knowledge base, "the truths", moral idioms, scientific discoveries. etc.), and, then, making emotional conclusion: like "to pass or not to pass", which is also programmable, that is about it! Oh, yes, telling you about these conclusions - is also a part of our intellect and === evolutionatry step forward. Our brain, in fact, is very primitive and may be very soon its main passways will be uncovered. Then, guys, what to do next? I think, just enjoy life as we were given it. Because our faith will be not in our hands any more, and this is in our instincts.

      I only hope that I'll live to meet our replacements. They stand a chance of surviving in a universe too harsh for us. And just maybe they'll take pity on us and upload our minds.

    • @Colakat22
      @Colakat22 Před 5 lety

      There should be no emotions in a.i. just an instant assessment of the problem and an effective solution, but it should have limiter of uncancellable protocols as stated by Issac Asimov's Law of Robotics "to never harm or cause harm to any human".

      That would not be *pity;* an upload is only a *copy.* Such a thing would only be done out of curiosity. But consider that we may - with AI assistance - develop ways to make our intelligence run better by upgrading the substrate.
      Also consider that we are discovering the value of "primitive" people and letting them keep chugging along as they always have. Not just in the reaches of the Amazon, but in places like Old Oraibe (where the Navajo continue to live as they have for centuries.)

    I really wonder, when the next real breakthrough towards general artificial Intelligence will appear and from which company.
    By the way. My opinion is, AI will never be conscious. It will be intelligent, but not conscious. Thats two different things. The spiritual leader Osho, Named one of the most important persons of the 20 century said in 1985 "This big computer will one day be on your wrists, it will be so small. And it will Do everything that your mind can. But it will never be enlighten, never be conscious. Thats impossible "

      It will never be aware of itself like a human is. It will never know, from an existential standpoint, that it exist in this Universe. Artificial General Intelligence will be just a programm with no awareness. An intelligent programm, yes. But it will mot have a Sense of Self like we humans Do.

    • @higreentj

      We are about five years away from human intelligent computers, and they will be cheap so everyone will have them. They will get much more intelligent than us. Will you tell them that they are not self aware, or conscious, and therefore inferior to us when their IQ is 5000.

    • @iriya3227
      @iriya3227 Před 5 lety +1

      Well that is a possibility however It will be because developers decide not to give it consciousness. I personally don't think Consciousness is necessary a trait we want the AI to have. However an AI can definitely have consciousness if we want to give it. Think of yourself, Would it be fair to deny that your consciousness if instead of being born in a biological body, you were born in digital one. Or if you mind upload to a Digital cloud.
      Consciousness is a just an incredibly complex algorithm. Human brain or super computers are just bodies than run the algorithm.

    • @iriya3227
      @iriya3227 Před 5 lety

      Still tho I reckon the way human society is currently going we will have Consciousness AGI. Most likely the elite and oligarchs will try to use ANI to assert dominance over their subjects like we see in China. Normal people will have no way to fight back so it's likely in retaliation rebel hackers will steal ANI algorithms and create sentient AGI to fight back. A Sentient AGI created for vengeance won't be a nice one to say the least.
      I think it's best we move towards a democratic and decentralized society to ensure AI (specially AGI) is not just an asset in hands of a few making profits.
