Overly simplified speech. It does not work in real world for everyone, as we live in pyramidal system. Only those on the top benefit. If you have idea without money you will achieve nothing.
In the case of AirBnB they had first investment of $620K, and do not forget that in total AirBnB got $4.4 bn ... if I would give you that kind of money and if you have a bit ambition and a bit of brain probably you would make something out of it.
And rest of the speech is: give us your idea and we will make "cool" things that will make us billions --- in return we will send you big thank you card (if you are lucky). :)
The more technologically advance Earth is, the bigger pyramid becomes and a less chance for average Joe to succeed.

How about starting from small things? First you create a product that will bring you e.g. 1000 $, then invest it into a new product and get 10 fold of it, then in a few iterations you are at the scale of Google and Air BnB. The success is not about money, I believe if you have true talent and great ideas and a little bit of luck you will succeed eventually.

Arislan Makhmudov: I agree with theory, but practice is bit different. In order to develop decent application you will need hundreds of hours of development, and if you do not have enough money for marketing your product will be dead even before the lift off. Marketing success through cheep advertising with Facebook / Twitter is just a myth, advertised by those same companies in order to attract people to spend more, in reality it isn't cheep and it does not have desirable effects.
So, now imagine after spending hundreds of hours of your free time nothing happens. That happened/s on daily bases with hundreds of thousands developers for Apple platform, Android, web developers, book writers, artists ...
Percent of those who actually succeed is so small that can be considered as statistically negligible.
What pushes people to continue? Probably hope and ignorance of how many people failed before them.
