    dip test strip in water for 2-3 seconds not 30 seconds and read result straight away .Reading the instructions helps.

    I cut each strip in half and thus have 2 strips per stick. This does not affect the readings as long as you are careful to not touch the test pads on the strip. Use a very sharp (good quality) scisors for this for best results ..... I learnt this from experience.

    I've used this for about two years. I find it pretty good, especially if you make JBL account, then all the data/tests made will be available online (not just each aquarium's last five). Just make sure you test under the same lighting conditions each time.

    Please read the instruction before making a video like this.. You are suposed to have the strip in the water for 2-3 seconds, lay it on the card and then wait for a minute

      I was fuming after he didn't read the gumpf? And proceeded to say to leave the strip in for 30secs.

    Great video, good to see something different being reviewed. I have the API liquid test kit and do agree with your view on the time it takes however they are just as useful to have. I currently use the Tetra dip strips and it too uses an app but is slightly different as the app knows what the colours are etc. I also cut my strips in half to double the about I use. My only gripe with Tetra Strips are the ammonia ones are separate and isn’t compatible with the app. However in a established tank the strips give a quick snap shot of was going on. Perhaps you could do a comparison of liquid vs strip? I have a new unopened liquid kit should you want it

      Thanks mate, I appreciate that. Its nice seeing something new and different on the market than the same old stuff. Yeah definitely a liquid comparison to strips video will be coming I'm just awaiting on supplies from a sponsor so keep a look out. 😁👍

    Great review video. Pity only 24 strips in the pack for the price. I suppose convenience isnt cheap.

      Thanks for the kind words. Appreciate it. Yeah hopefully if they take off then the price would go down.

    I have been using this kit since Christmas. One thing I would say is that BEFORE using, find the JBL instruction video for it. Do NOT leave test strips in water more than recommended time! 30 secs - NO! I was also not tapping off the water as per JBL vid and this led to variable results. Since following the JBL vid on how to results have been pretty consistent. No its NOT going to be as accurate as a drop test - NO test strip is but it will be there or thereabouts and good enough for checking. If you need exact figures buy an expensive drop test kit. I have heard some folks are using the 7 in 1 easy strips but I have not tried this myself - yet. Plan to when my strips run out as the 7 in 1 strips are half the price, 50 per box instead of 25.

    Why do you want something quicker? It is not like the fish only have minutes to live. If they've survived the last few hours in that nasty water before you perform the test, I'm pretty sure they can wait a few minutes for you to finish and hurry up to change it... 😅😅😅

    Hi James, great review. I was just wondering what this product cost? I do have a liquid test kit which I tend to use once a month. API also do a test strip but it's more of a dip and see and is subjective really, as it's based on your visual perception of the colour (just like the liquid test kits) as apposed to an electronic device giving you an answer. Cheers matey 👍

    • @MrBrightfryed
      @MrBrightfryed  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks man. I appreciate it. I think it's around £18 so little pricey but I guess your paying for the app support too. Yeah I've used a few other test strips but the idea that you can just scan the strip is what's most impressive. As i said in the video I've not compared it to others in accuracy (definitely will do in a future video) but I do like the concept here.

      @@MrBrightfryed the concept is definitely awesome. Price is a little steep but I guess as you say, you're paying for the app support too. These reviews are certainly helpful and brings to light new and innovative products that I wouldn't have found otherwise. Great job matey 👍

      @@nayanmistry4641 Yeah definitely. I really appreciate your input and feedback mate. My main goal is to help push the hobby forward in the right direction and if I genuinely find something interesting or worth talking about then will certainly give my view on it.

    Looked for a review since mine gives me readings that are very off compared to the JBL-liquid-drop test kit. Wonderful to see this guy not even following the 2-3sec dip instruction. Awesome, not!

    30 or 3 seconds? strips on water?

    • @MrBrightfryed
      @MrBrightfryed  Před 2 lety

      I'm pretty sure the manual said 3 seconds it's been a while since I used the kit now. It sticks as I always wondered why they recommended such a small amount of time. I always did longer 👍
