- This video shows gameplay with all 21 characters in Pokkén Tournament DX for Nintendo Switch. I played a full battle with each character. The character roster consists of Darkrai, Blaziken, Pikachu, Lucario, Gardevoir, Pikachu Libre, Scizor, Croagunk, Sceptile, Gengar, Decidueye, Machamp, Braixen, Empoleon, Mewtwo, Chandelure, Suicune, Weavile, Charizard, Garchomp and Shadow Mewtwo.

Really wish they'd increased the roster a little more. Would have loved to see pokemon like tyranitar, gallade or electivire appear as playable characters. This roster is too small

The more realistic an animation is, whether in cartoons or video games, the longer it takes to complete it. This may be why there aren't many yet. I mean look at how much more realistic they are compared to the portable game graphics...

Maninflames3 it's still the 1st entry in a possible series, no fighting games started out with a lot in their 1st entry
Volting Master but tekken, mortal kombat, guilty gear and marvel vs capcom 3 all have more characters with better depth than pokken...
Maninflames3 all those games are over 7 games into their series(before MvC there was the Xmen vs SF games), fighting games NEVER start out that robust on their 1st entries.

Another first entry that came a few years ago is injustice. Even before the roster was fairly decent
Maybe the game might add more characters as dlc down the line but so far 21 (or less at the Wii u versions launch) seems rather small for what it is

This is awesome that my favorite pokemon is in this
Characters I would've loved to have seen:
*Greninja,* because every other smash character except Jigglypuff and Pokemon Trainers other 2 Pokemon are in this, and also an Ash Greninja synergy burst makes a lot of sense.
*Ninjask or Pinsir:* there is only ONE bug type in this game being scizor, and I think we need more. I think pinsir is a good idea, but an insanely quick ninjask avoiding attacks and chipping away at your health sounds amazing too.
*Marshadow:* I want to see a ghost type throwing punches rather than using special moves, and a great way too show off the new marshadow is by putting it in a game like this.
*Feraligatr:* We haven't had two water starters yet, and we haven't had a gen 2 or gen 5 starter either, and I think Feraligatr is just more fitting for this game.
*Hitmonlee, Hitmontop or Hitmonchan:* Personally these are the Pokemon id like to see the most. Hitmonchan would ace in attack and defence while Hitmontop and Hitmonlee would ace in attack and strategy.
*Fraxure or Haxorus:* I think Haxorus and Fraxure would fit in really well in this game, idk why though.
And finally, *Genesect:* I think Genesect would be a really good addition to this game. Fast and powerful, and a synergy burst move with lots of different types multi attacks would look amazing.
I would've put my favourite Pokemon, Toxicroak, but theres already croagunk as both a fighter and support character.

*Gyarados* ,would be surprising as he doesn't have legs.
*Emboar* ,looks like a fitting choice.
*Mawile* ,a nice fan favorite tha fits pretty well with the other Pokémon.
*Hariyama* ,has a cool Karate design and fits pretty well.
*Infernape* ,favorite Gen 4 starter and we already have Empoleon
*Hawlucha* ,everyone expected him to be in, and he's cool.
*Chesaught* ,a fighting type that hasn't received much love (still want Greninja)
*Mimikyu* ,i have no idea how it would fight but it would be unique.
*Zacian* ,he would be cool since he uses a Sword

Pikachu, Charizard, Decidueye, Garchomp, Lucario and Gardevior are my favorite
I have this game and love to play it mainly just to see everyone’s moves in action and incorporated into unique and devastating combos, though it irks me that someone like Greninja and Gallade were overlooked. Both humanoid types, should have been a done deal

Wish this kind of "live battle" was in some other pokemon game or even spin off. It feels kinda nicer than the classic turn based fights.

Game looks fantastic, looks like it plays fantastic, and just very almost scratches an itch iv had for a long time, but i really wish the pokemon company would focus on this more... 21 characters is a fantastic amount but could be expanded if given some love, same with the story and maybe an explorable overworld in the city?
And the woman's voice needs an option to be turned off. Here's hoping this this isn't just a one & done hit & run, because i love it!

Some pokemon in this roster are perfect for ash such as lucario, blaziken, gardevoir, braixen (please tell me what's braixen's final evolution is thank you), weavile, scizor, empoleon and chandelure
