I wonder why this game has such few fans compared to the other Pokemon games, it's so detailed and it's just a fun game to play. Sure, it might be harder than the main games but it's so good. Hopefully this game gets the larger fanbase it deserves.
Yeah it's such a good game but maybe it's because it only focuses on battle aspect rather than story maybe they should've found a common ground between this and original games

Graphics like these would've been a possibility if it wasn't for a crack studio like Gamefreak that is in charge of developing game. Gamereak's graphics and animations still looks like GBA/N64 era.

Sit your ass down, imma explain to you how a Double-Elimination tournament works.
Simply put, if you lose one set in Double Elim, you fall down from Winner's Bracket to Loser's Bracket. If you lose a second set, you're knocked out. Think of it as having two lives.
Thanksalot was undefeated prior to Grand Finals, so he still had both of his lives intact. Tarutaro only had one life. That's why Thanksalot wasn't immediately knocked out when he lost the first set against Tarutaro; he EARNED the right to have a second chance. Thanksalot then won the second set, thus knocking out Tarutaro and winning the tournament.
It's not "BS" as you put it, it's fair. Stop screeching just because your homie Tarutaro didn't win.
It really is not fair though, assuming all players play at their one exact skill level whole championship, meaning yes tarutaro might have been a life down, but thanksalot didnt earn that, tarutaro's stronger bracket opponents are to thank, i really dislike this bullshit like yo, I beat you like 5 times and you beat me 3 times so clearly you are the better player.

I think the guy you’re arguing with is just saying that watching two pokemon fight it out in a more “anime based” style is more exciting to watch than traditional turn based platforms. Ngl, I enjoy traditional turn based pokemon over this due to the raw strategy and intelligence required to be REALLY good at it, but Pokken Tournament is CLEARLY cooler to watch in real time just because it’s like “WOW! A pokemon fighting game! That’s cool!” vs people like you and I who enjoy, appreciate, and love the traditional turn based system of pokemon. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion I guess, so you really didn’t have to go off on him like that

Every Pokken match was explosive this year, it made me want to go out and buy the game. It's just so much fun to watch!
honestly the game is fun but it is for sure the easiest "competitive"" fighting game there is atm , and it lacks characters :/
What devices are this available on?
Wii U and Switch. The Switch version has exclusive characters, including characters that were previously exclusive to the arcade version. Speaking of, if you can FIND a Pokken arcade cabinet, it's worth killing a few quarters on.
I really don't think the pro controller is necessary at all. You could justify it if you need a second controller to play the game with, but the stock Switch controller still works just fine.

This might be my favorite set of Pokken to date. The players, the commentators, the reverse 6-0, the atmosphere, all of it came together and made this such an intense fight to watch live. HUGE congrats to Thankswalot for being Pokken's first US World Champion! \o/

@@NotGord this is a late response but the game had nearly no marketing compared to other Pokémon games after its initial release and it was only available in Japan for a year when it first came out unlike other Pokémon games and it has not gotten a true sequel

This is probably my favourite Pokken Worlds Championship in Pokemon Worlds so far. The games and sets are incredible, so many high intense actions and close games as well as comebacks. Congrats to our Winner and second place competitor, We hope to see you guys again next year. Speaking of next year;
I do hope Pokken keeps on going to be this amazing exciting fighting game even after Smash Ultimate is release as well as that there should be hope for adding new characters, assists, stages, and extra content offline and online via DLC/Update, To keep the game fresh and to extend its lifespan for years to come. Pokken Tournament DX is one of the more underrated fighting games for sure right now that there are still people out there who still dont even know this game or that this game exist and I still find it weird the it didn't get a second run at EVO on the main stage.
Lets hope all the best for Pokken Tournament DX and its future casually and competitively and I hope to see more of this in Pokemon Worlds as well.

These characters take a lot of time and effort to create and balance as each character has their own unique play style. If Pokken continues to be updated, it’ll be a long ways away from getting 50 but every new character adds something original and well-executed

18:36 was the exact moment i got emotionally invested into this battle
Game 6 round 2... on the verge of getting 6-0ed, thanksalot is just losing and would’ve lost by timeout, but the grab hit with 0.01 seconds remaining, winning him the round and the game, leading to the comeback. Insane. He was .01 seconds from losing (but no one ever talks about this...)
If he lost it would have went to Game 6 round 3 but yea it was still clutch

Grabbing doesn’t freeze the timer, he grabbed him at 1 second but it stopped at 0.1 to allow the grab to finish

Watching this game made me want to come back to pokken tournament! I broke one of my joycons and my controller was drifting, so I stuck a piece of paper in the left stick, wiggled it around furiously and it fixed the drift a bit- it still drifts a tiny bit occasionally but I fix it by wiggling it around furiously again, and now I am starting to get back into it. We need another pokken tournament!

That empoleon switch kind of worked out. I would've wanted to see Gengar switch
I'm a full year late, but I agree, Empoleon's extended hitboxes were really great for catching Gengar out of i-frames, and his projectiles were perfect for controlling Gengar in the air. However in order for Empoleon to win he has to get some pretty big reads, I think in the end it's easier for the Gengar to predict the Empoleon than vice versa. So In the end going back to Sceptile to challenge as many reads as possible - because the more potential interactions with Gengar, the more opportunities you have to start a big combo on him and control his movement - and as we could see, Sceptile had more than enough mixups to screw with the Gengar once Thanksalot adapted. It also seemed like the Gengar started getting a bit flustered in the way he was playing towards the end.
Totally had no idea this game existed. Where was this when I was a kid?! Back in my day, we had Pokemon Snap!

Tarutaro really looked dominant through resetting the bracket. What intestinal fortitude by ThanksALot to hang in there and pull out the clutch at the end!

This is how it played in my head when I was in the 5th grade playing Fire Red on my Gameboy ngl.
That was pretty epic. USA actually winning was not even as good a story line as just how epic that battle was. Every round was so good. Tarutaro looked less aggressive near the end. That momentum shift though.

sceptile is my favorite starter evolution so it's cool seeing how he fights

I never played pokken or tekken, but CZcams recommended to me. I turned this on just for a killing time, and when the game was over with Thanksalot's reverse sweep, I could see myself cheering with an excitement.
